Background
Born in the Year 1810, Lady Dawn of House Tracano grew up in the scholarly world of the Bazan court, sent there to be trained and schooled. From an early age she studied, intending on taking a life as a scholar or perhaps stewardship. Having aptitude as a healer, she began training there in the arts. But, the dawn of the Thirty Years War called, and the House's scant military could barely defend itself. So as she was in her early teens, trained as a battlefield healer and given scant time as a Knight, she was off to the battlefields of Lonnaire. As a medic, she was horrified by the scorched earth tactics employed in combat, the terror from the guerilla attacks, and the partisan warfare, and never knowing whether the locals would attack the knights in their sleep.
The never ending casualties and skirmishes over the same small plots of land, to advance and be driven back over a period of years dug deeply into her,and she questioned the point of it all. Many years of warfare over the same battlefield to no progress seemed but a minor point of the war as a whole. When the Thirty Years War ended after generations of combat, she was emotionally exhausted, and while a peace came with honor, she wondered much if there had ever been any point to it at all.
Over a decade serving as a medic and healer left her as skilled, and those were skills she hoped to take back home then as the war ended, and to teach and serve then. The war had seemingly left Rivana stronger as a whole, but to Dawn it seemed but a shell. She married shortly near this period, a marriage of arrangement to a Royal Lancer, Fiero Bazan (nee Tracano) and settled in Bazan, where she had been schooled. He was a dashing man, filled with honor and duty. To Dawn, empty things. But she understood obligation. So her husband helped her to start mending some of the holes in her soul, and they had children as the War of Rose and Thorn, the Succession War began.
Her period of traunquility ended with the Succession War, as the Queen of Rose and the King of Thorns went to war with one another over the kingship. Dawn mourned, but duty and obligation called once more as her family's allegiance went to the Rose Queen. The war, to Dawn, was one of horror. The earth was scorched and salted. Partisan warfare the norm as the people's allegiance was but one more thing. Her years of stewardship had shown her the larger picture rather than just her small part of the battlefield. The scope of the Succession War terrified her as her husband went to ride on the front lines, her children defined by it as she had, and the bodies piled up.
But her skills as a healer maintained themselves. If not perhaps growing near famous. But they were never enough. All Dawn could ever see were the bodies of those she would try in the medical tents to save and fail, or those behind the lines left as corpses. The war's static pace of sieges and fortresses left her with too many images of barren lands. And then the Rose King died, in the same battle as her husband. As Dawn realized she loved him. The war all but seemed over then, all this conflict and loss for nothing.%R%RBut the Rose Queen survived, taking the tattered remnants of her forces together. And in the inspiring Queen Alysande, in her mourning Dawn perhaps found something to hope for. If not her own survival, then for Rivana as a whole then, and to perhaps help teach her children to avoid her mistakes. The war ended, after more struggles, more loss. Then came the hard part. The peace. She had known but fighting intersperced with periods of quiet ever since she was a teen. Now Dawn would have to adjust to an age, with strife, would not have conflict. Helping in Bazan to act to take care of it, her soul heavy with loss, and withdrawn from her children, she was on the outside, a cold, embittered woman who had saved many. And on the inside, was but an exhausted shell who tried to fight to hold on to a semblance of hope for peace. Now.
But the start of this new era of peace did not come easily. The remaining Thorns once again went to guerilla warfare, and plagued the land as they tried to take out the Rose Queen and her supporters. There was more fighting, more suffering. Dawn was one of those who was trapped when Sunsreach was taken by Garrell, having to help with treating the injured in the process as well as the nobles. The strength of the others kept her through, though. How could she not when those who had hope fought when she did not? So, when the forces of Seaguard marched to help rid Eastfield of the Thorns she joined them, taking command of the army's healers. In the fighting she saved many lives and had her own saved by the men under command of Sir Aidric leaving an open favor between them. Since the rebellion has been put down she has rmeained emotionally distant from her family and her children in Summerseat, doing her work and prayingthat she might live the rest of her life without war. SHe has had enough. But it seems one of the constants of all life since the Imperial era.

Dawn Bazan is a middle aged woman in her mid 50's. She has short, cropped cut grey hair that's been lopped in a military style. She has faded, dark eyes and a lined, creased face full itary style. She has faded, dark eyes and a lined, creased face full of wrinkles. Due to stress she has aged prematurely and looks quiet much of the time, her lips always pursed and has a cynical air.
Dawn generally wears a faded tunic of a good cut fabric. It is not quite stylish but it is thick and comfortable. On it is the heraldry of her house in a long since faded emblem on the front. She often wears thick gloves as a matter of course and heavy boots underneath the dress of her tunic, and will have a knapsack with personal items
