Elaida was born the eldest daughter of Vice Chancellor Marcel Toulan and his wife, Cantonia Toulan nee Lancella, on Fevrier 26 in 1847.
She spent her early years in the burgeoning City-State of Pacitta, where he father serves on the Council as Vice-Chancellor. A quiet and kind girl, she was generally more desirous of playing with the housecats or dogs, or "helping" tend to the riding horses, or listening to bards and storytellers; than she was of rough or dirty play. She was the sort that tended to be upset, though, when cats did as cats do and killed or injured mice or birds. She spent some times with one of the robins that she saved from the cats, tending its broken wing and nursing it gently back to health.
When she was eight years old, her parents send her back to Sanctum to learn from the Church and take her schooling there. She thrived within the strictures of a formal church education, finding her early childhood dabbling in healing arts was a sign of her natural talent for it. Her focus because of this became such; though she also excelled in histories, seeing them as just more stories for her to learn. Her required classes for self-defense never went as well, as she shied from the idea of hurting another, even in her own defense. The staff, however, she enjoyed, looking at it as more of a game than a method of injury.
She discovered a love of cooking and baking, though some said the arts were "beneath" her for her noble title. Piously, she would respond that all were beneath the One's favor, as the most noble of all, yet He still stooped to care for all those in his community. Being able to cook and bake meant that she could better care for others, she reasoned. Her entire purpose was that of caring for those who were too injured or ill to care for themselves.
When she dreamed of later wedding, she somehow, due to the folklore and fairytales she loved her whole life, had imagined she would wed a Paladin or a Templar: a holy man of virture who walks in the Light of the One.
Imagine her surprise when Baron Toulan told her to pack for a trip to Sunsreach to meet her future husband… the Prince of Fools, neither a knight nor a man of virtue. Still, she meets this challenge with the same faith and positivity that she has carried her entire life…
