Background
Lady Adrienne Cassomir is one of the children of the younger twin uncle to the Viscount, a scion of a minor branch. Her agility and nimbleness recommended her to be trained to become a Huntress. Which she did, eventually, after going through her Harrowing in Janvier 1866. Her first test of skills as a Huntress occurred shortly after, in Fevrier, when she was among the Huntresses that infiltrated Sunsreach to open the gates for the Loyalists, a feat which earned her a nice token of acknowledgement, a fine hunting dagger of lightsilver.
Adrienne was born on Marse 17th, 1848, as the second child to Lord Matthew Cassomir and his wife, Maria Cassomir née Aldana. Her uncle Paule - elder twin to her father - was killed in the Succession War. Her grandparents were Damon and Cassella Cassomir, Lancers who died defending Prince Ferdinand Tracano in the Thirty Years War. Even if their number has decreased, especially after the recent events from 1861, when Castle Ironhold was destroyed, and Baron Aric Cassomir's daughter Emilia emerged as the only survivor, the remaining Cassomirs will stand strong.
At the age of fourteen, while the Succession War was still raging, it was decided that Adrienne should start her training with the Huntresses, being of an agile disposition, a child that had always enjoyed to be in the woods of Ironhold, with an affinity to archery and a perceptive awareness of her surroundings, which recommended her for such a road in life. Earlier plans of her father had intended for her to become a squire, so these had apparently been discarded - maybe because he was advised to do so; after all some rumors hinted that it could not hurt to have another Cassomir among the Huntresses, as Lady Emilia was severely affected after what she had experienced through the destruction of Castle Ironhold.
The Succession War ended in early 1863, and so did the first year of her training. Adrienne had adapted to the new situation, being of an outgoing disposition which soon breached the boundaries between her, the noble, and the other aspiring huntresses of common birth. She enjoyed the times spent in the woods, the camaraderie, the archery practice, the tests of her agility when it came to climbing, the tests of her perception when it came to find and interpret tracks. She soon preferred these to other lessons she would also receive, being a Cassomir, pertaining to more ladylike areas of dancing, history, literature. Even though these lessons would receive more emphasis after the elevation of House Cassomir from a Barony to a county in Mai 1865.
In Novembre 1865 a new threat of Thorns became apparent, as they had taken the town of Goldhollow. Lady Raelyn picked some of the best huntresses to accompany her there and help retake the town. She did not plan to take Adrienne along, a fact that stirred the young Cassomir's sense of duty and honor. This was about Thorns! The arch-enemy of the Queen, the nemesis of House Cassomir! Adrienne was eager to come along, she did not hesitate to pester her older cousin, not as an aspiring Huntress, but as a fellow Cassomir. Her wish was denied, for the obvious reason that Adrienne had not passed the final tests yet and was not a fully trained and acknowledged Huntress. Raelyn asked her to stay behind at Roseguard with the other Huntresses that would not come along, and Adrienne obeyed, albeit grudgingly.
The news of the victory of Goldhollow was ambiguous to her, in the way it stirred the feeling of a missed chance, while she of course cheered for the Thorns? defeat. Her enthusiasm for her training dimmed, in a way that would not escape the Mistress of the Hunt upon her return. They had a talk, and finally it was agreed upon that Adrienne would receive her Harrowing by the end of Janvier 1866, in the woods surrounding Castle Roseguard. Two full months before her eighteenth birthday. She was hunted by the Huntresses, it was quite the experience for once to be the pursued prey, not much unlike what the usual villains and bandits would experience when being pursued on Cassomir lands. It certainly stirred her heart to beat faster, when she barely managed to slip past them and go into hiding, until she had to give up one place and sneak away in pursuit of another hideout. All the knowledge and techniques she had gathered in her training Adrienne had to make use of to evade her pursuers. Her efforts were rewarded and she became a Huntress.
A Huntress needs a good steed, so her family gifted her with a fine riding horse, a mahogany bay mare, which Adrienne named Checkmate, due to the horse's prudent temper - and also in reference to some hours spent with learning a bit of chess from her father in her younger years.
Not long after, she got her chance to prove her worth at the Battle of Sunsreach in Fevrier 1866, when Lady Raelyn infiltrated the town with her Huntresses to open the Gates for the loyalist forces, and Adrienne was with them, this time, repeating the tactics that had led to the victory of Goldhollow. For once, Adrienne was able to put what she had learned to practice and to do her duty in serving her House and the realm, which was important for her, but even more so the fact that the Queen and Emilia Cassomir who were held captive in the Capital could be freed because of this.
Queen Alysande Tracano rewarded several people who had distinguished themselves at the Battle of Sunsreach with fine tokens of acknowledgement. Adrienne received an exquisite dagger of lightsilver blade, with the coat of arms of House Tracano engraved onto it. After Sunsreach had been reclaimed, Adrienne returned to Ironhold with most of the other Huntresses, where she has stayed these past months, guarding the lands of House Cassomir.
Adrienne is particularly talented in the areas of archery and perception. She loves her siblings, even though there may be a bit of playful rivalry with her older brother Graham, the knight, possibly because she almost was to be trained to become a knight as well. She adores her younger sister, may even be a bit protective of her. And she - like the other remaining Cassomirs, has a strong sense of family.
Adrienne used to be closer to Emilia, with them being of similar age, they used to play and laugh together, back in the day - until the incident that led to the touched state of the current Viscount's sister. The change in Emilia was and still is a thing that disturbs Adrienne. As much as she would like to help Emilia… she can't and may be occasionally even be a bit spooked by the odd way of speech and manner of the touched Cassomir. That Emilia would be even made Huntress was a fact that did not only surprise her but many others. At the moment Adrienne is rather cautious and observing when it comes to Emilia.
The other Cassomir main line cousins, especially Jaren and Raelyn, have been viewed with a mixture of familial fondness and growing respect - as they excelled in bravery and gained their positions. Even if it was known that Jaren and the Queen had been quite fond of each other, the announcement of his betrothal to the Queen in Aout 1865 was still a bit of a surprise. While Adrienne very much thinks he is deserving of the position, she is aware it will be one that will remove him from House Cassomir, as his rapid rise to King of Rivana will go along with a loosening of the tight familial bond the Cassomirs share - he will certainly spend much less time at Ironhold, that is for sure!
In regards to Raelyn, who will follow in her brother's footsteps to take up the position as Viscountess, whilst still remaining Mistress of the Hunt - this is a novelty in the history of long Cassomir tradition. Adrienne may have her doubts that these two positions can be held by the same person, for Ironhold's benefit, but these are not thoughts she will openly advertise.
She is a Cassomir, she will do her duty and honour her family.
On the Grid
Chestnut brown hair, long and straight, is usually tied with a leather strap at the back of her head in a ponytail, to keep it from hampering her perceptive green eyes. A few strands fall over her forehead, the dark curves of her brows and a face with a few freckles present on her nose and cheeks. The full lips would look sensual, if twisted into a charming smile, where it not that they are seldom curled, the features sporting the freshness and lack of wrinkles typical of a young woman in her late teens. She is of slender physique and medium height, moderately muscular as she would be through regular training and physical exercise, being out and about in the woods mostly.
She is wearing tunic and leggings in brown and green, colours that make her blend well with the vegetation of the woods, a pair of worn but comfortable leather boots, all well tended, and a hooded cloak of dark green colour. A leather belt with a buckle made of silver, showing off the coat of arms of House Cassomir, is were two blades will be carried, a fine hunting dagger and a one-handed sword, while a fine bow adequate for a Huntress and a quiver of arrows will be carried along, slung over a shoulder.
The Wedding of Jaren Cassomir and Queen Alysande:
A few strands of brown hair fall over this young woman's forehead, the dark curves of her brows and a pair of green eyes in a face with a few freckles present on her nose and cheeks. The dress Adrienne wears is a combination of wine red and black; the wine red taffeta pannel at her front reaching from the neckline to the seam of the skirts is covered with vines in a silver thread, and tiny tulip like flowers in a lighter shade of red. The same embroidered fabric can be seen at her lower arms, emerging from the long black sleeves that have been slitted to the level of the elbow, a wine red ribbon added at the upper arms, the black samite covering her shoulders and her sides and back, just in a manner a coat worn above the dress would, except that this here is a mere immitation, sewn to the other fabric except for the front, where it is laced with a black ribbon, accentuating the waist of its wearer and of course drawing attention to the shapely curves of a female physique. A necklace of silver adorns the Huntress, sitting below the collarbone, a chain of a floral pattern that somehow echoes the pattern on the dress. Adrienne's long dark brown tresses have been mostly left to fall freely about her shoulders and beyond, with the exception of a few strands of hair that have been braided and laid out in two circles about the upper part of her head, held in place with hair pins of silver there, the ends tied at the back of her head with a ribbon in a wine red color that matches the dress. |
Personality
There are actually two Adriennes… the Huntress, who shows solidarity for her compatriots, regardless of social standing and does not hesitate when it comes to performing her duties. She is also the lady of a minor Cassomir branch, and as such, outgoing if she wants to be, even though she feels certainly less comfortable in the arena of courtly occasions.
Quirks
- Duty Bound - Adrienne lives to serve the Crown and fight the Thorn, and to serve House Cassomir.
- Stoic - The Cassomir trait shows occasionally, when Adrienne goes through emotionally or otherwise stressful situations.
- Outgoing - This is the heritage of her mother, and usually the character trait displayed , especially when she is with the Huntresses or in lighter social congregations.
- Perceptive - With a keen eye for detail, Adrienne relies very much on her senses, when needed, and her affinity to this is clearly a bonus when on patrol in the woods.
- Talented: Bow - This is what finally recommended her to become a Huntress. The bow is almost like another limb to Adrienne, and she has the ability to focus on the moment of aiming and letting loose an arrow, most often resulting in accurate hits.
- Good Reputation - She is a Cassomir, dutiful, and has so far not been cause for gossip or slander.
- Well Equipped - Adrienne has been gifted by the Queen with a fine dagger made of lightsilver, as reward for her efforts in liberating the Capital in Fevrier 1866. She got a fine riding horse from her family after becoming a Huntress; and as a Cassomir, she has generally easy access to quality steel weapons of Metalmire and other quality equipment.

A gift she received from her family upon becoming a Huntress, Checkmate, is Adrienne’s mahogany bay mare, named out of a whim after tedious chess lessons her father has subjected her to. A fine riding horse, swift and agile, of moderate and almost prudent temper. | Douglas - or Dougie for short - is Adrienne’s black wolfhound, a gift received from her father on her eighteenth birthday. He is usually of a more sedate temper, but when it comes to hunts, quite persistent in tracking down the prey. |

Lady Tiadora Gerrell : Nice, friendly, shy, and fond of good breakfasts. Maybe a touch too nervous when it comes to fashion, from my point of view. But yeah, she is nice. And pious, obviously. |
Lord Gawain Rosendal : The squire to Sir Thaddeus Greycen, and first cousin to Destrian. Still not sure what to make of him, but he seems to be a bit if a charmer. |
