Tourney Grounds - Pacitta City - Pacitta

The tournament grounds stand ready for use at a moment's notice. The stands are setup with the well-to-do sitting in the center, with the best seats, and for any courtiers present. A half canopy has been established to help keep the shade in the area and protect from any of the elements, a thick leather trim going across the area where the VIPs are sitting raised up about fifty feet and supported by heavy wooden poles and tethers tying it. The benches have been formed of thick wood in the gallery, with lesser galleries set to the side for commoners, guards, and those who are watching and not immediately involved over in the arena. There are roughly eight rows of seats set up for the commoners stretching off the full length of the viewing gallery, and roughly three rows thick for the VIPs to sit upon. Among the rows are those who are bringing beverage and refreshments.

The arena is dusty, a pit formed in the ground which has been dug down flat with padded dirt roughly two feet down from the main tents, the incline designed to give the crowd a better view. The center of the arena betray tell-tale markings where it is apparent that the rail for jousts could be set, if not set already. The dirt is thick and solid, packed down as firmly and evenly as it can be to ensure good footing. From the opposite ends of the exhibition pavilions are a pair of berths where the combatants would enter from and where judges and guards would otherwise sit, as well as attendants to quickly go and tend to the injured or break apart the combatants should it be necessary. The main pit is larger than the pavilions, being roughly fifty horse lengths wide, enough for all the combatants to have plenty of room to brawl without being so spread out that the main viewing area would risk losing track of them.

The stands overlooking the jousting fields of the Pacitta Tourney Grounds swell near to bursting this late afternoon, as thousands gather to try to watch the most prestigious event of these tournaments, the Joust! Of course the usual boxes all remain in place, with Chancellor Bartolo Mancini occupying his place in the High Councillors box, nibbling on some grapes and chugging down wine as he waits for the appropriate moment to start the event. Vice-Chancellor Marcel Toulan sits a bit apart from him, looking calm and composed, as he often does, studying the crowds and competitors alike as he too waits for the event to begin. The noise is already near-deafening just from the thrum of conversation, but after several moments, Mancini makes a gesture, and about two-dozen horns sound loudly, playing a fanfare that announces the games are about to begin. Once the brassy tune dies down, a black-clad Circuit-employed announcer moves up and bellows out:

"Hear Ye! Hear Ye! The honorable Chancellor Bartolo Mancini welcomes you all to the Joust of the Pacitta Tournament, on behalf of the whole of the Pacitta Council! What drama awaits us in this most storied and glorious of events? Will the champions of the past again rise to the occasion, or will new champions find their glory? Far be it from this humble announcer to stand in the way of finding out any longer than he must, and so, let our first group of competitors begin!"

And with that, Mancini makes another gesture, signalling his assent for the contests to begin. He doesn't look entirely happy to be here, but he does seem to be trying to keep up appearances. Marcel Toulan, by comparison, looks quite interested to see how things turn out.

Raimond Giraldi waits on the sidelines, working with a squire to make sure everything is buckled properly and his armor is securely fastened down. Everything gets double-and-triple checked, because nothing's more frustrating than to have something go awry due to equipment failure…that and unscrupulous knights have been known to send intermediaries to cut through saddle-straps and other such skullduggery, though there's generally less of that happening at Circuit events due to the large number of observers about. In any case, he eyes the first group of competitors thoughtfully, and though he still doesn't quite have enough voice to cheer, he does bang a fist on the fencepost to make some noise for his little brother as he rides up to take his first round of the day.

Devlin Cassomir is among the first group to Joust, and so he makes sure his shield is strapped down securely, and rides to his starting point, giving a salute towards the boxes, then the crowd, and then Nadine and calling out, "Good luck to you, Sir! May the One favor us both with many points today." And then he accepts a lance from his squire, and readies himself for that first charge.

Gabriel l'Saigner waits along with others for their turn to joust. For now, he calmly watches the competitors take the field and take their turns. He is curious to see how this will all play out. So far this tournament had been interesting, and if he had thought on things correctly, his brother might end up walking out of Pacitta a winner. He hoped that much was true, Michael deserved to have a tourney victory after some of his previous performances. Performances that did not do his skill at arms any justice.

Tristan will watch. He hopes a Rivanan can win this. Thaddeus or Aidric would be preferable, with Devlin and Graham a close second. Raimond would be alright too, he supposed.

Samantha Rosendal sits off the side, excited for the action that is to come. She almost regrets not being one of the first to compete.

Nadine hears her name get called out, and she moves her horse forward and takes position. Ah. She would be riding against Devlin Cassomir. Offering the man a salute, she glances in the direction of Elrick for a moment and then readies herself for the charge.

Michael l'Corren is at his ease as he waits for the day's contest to begin. Decked out in his plate and white and blue tabard he cuts quite a figure, he stands by his brown l'Corren charger with some of his men nearby. When the contests are called he passes the reins to one of his men then moves closer to the lists to watch Elrick's bout.

Evelyn l'Faust awaits on the sidelines, mounted on her horse, and in her polished armor. She watches with an air of concentration, fixated on those competing first, and already well aware whom she has to face. She knows the skill of the t'Maren Knight, and by her features is already busy preparing herself for her own joust, while trying to catch any nuances, open areas, or other devices which she can use to her advantage should she face one of those competing now. She is, thus, unusually quiet, where she might normally be engaging someone else in conversation.

Emilia is settled in amongst the usual section of the stands, dressed within huntress garb and blending a bit with the small group of huntresses that are with her to watch the jousting. Emilia's dark eyes flit over the field and the pairs that are coming forth. Curious to see how this days event will go, not that even a hint of that shows upon her stoic mien. Looking far more solemn and like she is attending some boring courtly dinner then a joust. Though as her brother is amongst the first to ride foreward, there is a round of spirited clapping. Not that it will be picked out above any of the other cheering that goes on as the other competitors take to the field.

Alexandra is tired, but excited, however the news she is to joust Thaddeus makes her frown ever so slightly. He was a good knight. Well, she had done well this far. She mounts her courser and takes a lance from her brother Damien who gives her a grin and a clap on her leg for good luck before she takes her place and faces off against Thaddeus.

Aidric stiffly mounts his charger. The duels had left their mark, but still, he'd done well, at least for him, and so he was at least optimistic about his chance today. When he is summoned to face Elrick he does so without uttering a curse, he simply lays in his heels and moves to the edge of the lists lance in hand. Salutes follow, then when the flag is dropped he spurs his mount and thuders in a slow building course towards his foe, lance tip leading the way.

With the brackets released ahead of time, Elrick knows who he will be going up against and this is his chance for revenge against the Rivanan Knight that knocked him out of the melee bracket, quite the upset. He also knows that he is part of the first group that will be heading to the tilt so he is already prepared, in armor and on his steed. As the names of the competitiors are announced and his is amongst them, the t'Tremaine Heir moves into position. With the proper bow to the High Council box and then a salute to the Couviere Royal box, he slips on his steel helm and takes the tourney lance from his squire. Fully focused, his gaze is fixed on Aidric, ready to go.

Eduard takes up a place within the lifts to watch the first round of matches. The paladin keeping an eye on technique in case he might gain some turn of information to help should he come to face any of these knights in future rounds.

Astride his black Charger, Leander Giraldi takes his spot on the field. A glance down the field reveals his opponent to be from the north. Giving a smile and a nod to Samuel, a minor salute is offered, before the helm is placed upon the head.

Thaddeus Greycen readies himself to participate in the joust. He checks to ensure that his wife's favor, a sleeve, is properly secured as he takes the lists awaiting the signal to attack. Thad takes a deep breath and says a quiet, quick prayer for safety and victory. When Thad's squire runs up and hands him a lance he says, "Thank you," and gives the appropriate salutes and lowers his visor.

Having made his way out onto the field of competitors, Samuel l'Corren looks around at the various people he's competing against offering a few of them grins. "Lovely day for this," he remarks, before hearing his own name called out. Getting himself ready, and leading Miramis, his horse, onto the field, there's a grin and a nod given to Leander as well, offering the man a salute, and the crowd a salute. The helm is then put in place, as he gets the lance, and waits, ready for the signal to charge.

Maybe the joust will go better this time than just the medicore performance from the time before. Battered and bruised from a week's worth of events, Jonathan t'Maren is standing beside his horse looking a little tired but generally ready for what comes next. Eager, he mounts his horse, waiting to be called.

The Joust isn't exactly his best of events, but he's hopefully getting better these things take time. Graham will at very least try his best for Rivana and his house. He sits atop his horse with the others who are waiting to compete. The Lily Knight at least seems to be more rested or his eyes aren't as oddly red as they had been during the duels yesterday. He looks to the stands and waves to those he may know before looking back to watch though paying attention.

After three passes were completed, Elrick had wanted a much more impressive victory which certainly frustrates him. Even though he landed two blows that were on target, neither shattered his tourney lance nor unseated his opponent. But he advances which is something and he salutes the crowd, in a more subdued manner. With his tilt out of the way for now, the t'Tremaine rides to the side by his pavilion where he waits, squire hurriedly attending to his knight.

Up in the stands this evening is a new presence to the tourney, though to most she isn't new in the slightest. She has a lot riding in this tournament, as it were, and quite literally: it's Miranda Giraldi, mother to Raimond and Leander. It's clear they're related; all three have dark hair, magnetic eyes, and a rather important way of carrying themselves, even while sitting. The matriarch, however, isn't quite so bold or outspoken as her sons have been so far during this competition. Instead she sits, hands folded in her lap upon black tafetta with back straight, waiting for her boys to shine. When the first round finishes with her youngest son advancing, her pride is palpable and her broad smile shines. Eagerly, she awaits Raimond's competition next.

The rounds continue fairly evenly matched for the most part, he does lean forward when his cousin goes down. Graham looks on until he is able to get up again. He claps for those matchs that end as they do. He hears his name called for the next rounds then and will ride out into the lists. He will raise his lance in salute to his opponant before sitting ready for the passses to be made.

Nadine rode her passes against Devlin. On the last she manages a devestating hit that unseats the man in a single blow. As she passes him on her way back to the sidelines, she gives him a salute. "Well ridden, Sir."

Hearing his name called out, Gabriel leads his horse forward and salutes Samantha, who returns his salute. The pair square off against one another, each ready for the signal to be given to ride forth.

Thaddeus snarls as his passes finish and gives almost the bear minimum of courtesy in a salute before riding off to prepare battling back up the bracket.

Evelyn is transfixed by the quality of the jousts, and how even some of the competitors seem to be, watching until the last bout is over. Particularly, she - just as likely everyone else notices Nadine's unseating of the young Cassomir Knight. She flashes a brief, supportive, and congratulatory smile towards Nadine for her victory and scoring, nodding once as if to say 'I hope I do as well as you', before she rides to position to compete. She lowers her visor, and exhales, shedding her anxiety and focusing solely on the man on the horse and in the plate armor ahead of her. She salutes him, for she respects the man's ability, before waiting for the signal to charge.

Should it be this hard on the first round? Leander and Samuel keep trading passes, over and over…the one not gaining advantage over the other. Finally, Leander scores a hit while managing to deflect the blow of the other knight. With a smile…for finally Leander did something right, he offers a salute to Samuel. "A fine match, Sir. May you fair well in the next rounds." With that…he rides off the field to let the next round come on.

Well, it's looking like a close-fought match, as neither Devlin nor Nadine seem to be scoring much in the way of points, or when they do, remain evenly matched….at least they do until Nadine smashes a lance against his chest and the next thing Devlin knows he's lying on his back in the dirt, seeing stars. After a few moments, he manages to get back to his feet, and lifts a hand in salute to Nadine, "Well jousted, Sir. Good luck in the rest of the brackets." And then he's headed off to the sidelines, where a squire has already collected his horse. Ah well, the Joust isn't really his event anyway.

Raimond could practically be biting his nails if he didn't have gauntlets on, watching Leander make pass after pass after pass against his opponent, until finally his little brother moves on to the next bracket, and he'd cheer if he didn't think it'd make him voiceless for another few days. And then he's off to his own match, saluting Graham in turn and preparing for his own charge in silence.

Not doing so well in the first few passes, Samuel mutters something to himself. Doing better from then on, there's more passes to be done, until he finally loses against Leander. Removing his helm, he offers the Giraldi knight a grin and a polite nod. "Well done, Sir. Good luck in the rest of the event." That done, he moves off the field to prepare for his next tilt.

Eduard winces to see the Cassomir unhorsed. But last minute checks are made of his armor as his name is called for the next group. Taking up his lance and saluting Michael.

Aidric curses and throws down his lance when it remains unbroken. Turning his horse swiftly, he withdraws to his pavillion to sit brooding, until his next match is called.

Alexandra is thrilled by her victory but has the grace to hide it. She salutes her foe as they finish their final tilt, "Luck to you sir," she calls before moving to her pavillion to dismount and rest.

Michael applauds for his cousin Samuel, Nadine and for Alexandra despite the differences in how well they did. When it is his turn he mounts up and nods to his brother before being armed and taking his place against the Farrant lord. As he makes his slautes he touches the garter tied to his arm, a smile given to his wife in the stands. A salute is returned to his opponent as well.

This is the event he's least matched for, so clearly he'll do the best here, Lorelei reasons, back in the standing section with the commoners. She's been here for nearly every event so far, watching without too much to say, and now, somewhat jaded against how one can prepare for these events, anyway, she's look rather nonplussed as Jon's turn approaches. Sure, she saw Alexandra compete and win in her first round, but she's trying not to pay attention to her.

Emilia moves to the edge of her seat as more passes are needed, her gaze giving an occasional flit towards the other pairings. But her focuse remains on Devlin's, a hand going to grip one of the huntresses arms when no points continue to be scored. And how it tightenes when her brother gets unhorsed!! A flicker of something changing those stoic features, worry most likely. Waiting, holding that breathe until her brother does get to his feet. And then Graham is called in the next group.

Raelyn Cassomir had made it out to this competition, and she sits next to her sister. And her wince is almost palpatable as her brother is unseated by Sir t'Cadri, but she is relieved to see he is not injured from the fall. Such, afterall, can happen. She says to Emilia quietly, "He can still pull out some good points," maintaining a positive attitude. "And hopefully he'll learn from that experience. Let's hope Graham has a better showing."

Eduard shakes his head as he manages to not get in a single hit. His lance unbroken. And used to salute the l'Corren before Eduard makes to regroup for this next match as his name is called again.

Lucas sits up sharply when Evelyn is knocked from her saddle. "Damn," he breathes as he applauds for Jonathan. Still a good deal of jousting to go, he reasons.

Michael had hoped for a more spectacular mach for him and Eduard, but what can one do? He salutes the other knight as they pass and dismounts to take his rest, while talking to his men to find out how the others fared. A middling result in all.

Emilia nods towards Raelyn,"Of true, he has a chance. And I am knowing he has never cared of greatly for of these things. But that had to of hurt." Armor was heavy and flying through the air with it on….crash landing! Dark eyes do follow Graham as he goes on and needs added rounds, a sigh slipping,"Better of showing, but I know he will be of disappointed. Perhaps he will have better of luck in of this next."

It is not the l'Faust Knight's Tourney, it seems. It's not only Raimond Giraldi that has her number, but Jonathan t'Maren as well. Each pass he manages a solid hit on her, she missing or glancing off him and in the final pass he manages to sink the lance into just the right place, and Evelyn falls from her mount onto the ground. She pauses, and it's likely a good thing her visor is still closed. She nods once to Jonathan, admitting her defeat with honor, and then moves off the field without a word, returning to her position to await her last attempt to even score a single point in the event.

Raimond rides out against Graham Cassomir for the first three passes, with both scoring a point. But on the tie-breaking pass, Raimond manages to score one more solid strike, and rides away with the narrow victory. "Well jousted." Raimond says as he salutes in passing, moving back to the sidelines to rest a bit in anticipation of the next match…against the fellow who bested him in the Melee Duels.

Gabriel and Samantha ride against each other. Samantha comes out way ahead in the first pass and Gabriel is forced to try and catch up to her, but is unable to. He offers her a nod as they pass, congratulating her on her win. The Rosendal woman is estatic. Gabriel doesn't have much time to consider what has happened though. It's time to go against Evelyn. He salutes the l'Faust knight and then prepares to kick his horse into a gallop.

"We meet again, hm?" Jonathan shouts over his shoulder to Evelyn before closing his visor and riding off to the lists. He grins good naturedly, vaguely entertained by how the odds keep pitting him against this formidable l'Faust, and it's still pulling his lips upward as he closes his visor and aims his lance before beginning. Having faced off against her many times now in many events, it's easy for him to dodge her hits and, as it seems, easy for him to unhorse her. When his lance slams into her neck he finishes the run, removing his helmet entirely to turn and see where she'd landed and if she needs help up. When she rises of her own accord, he nods once back to her, a look of admiration on his face.

It is tied after the three passes at one a piece, and so the Lily Knight will turn back in the list for another pass in which case he's hit and fails to do likewise. "A good match m'lord." Graham says in response though his rest is short enough time to wave to the stands to his family, but as he's called back out not long after and so he'll grab a fresh lance and will head back onto the field. He once more salutes his opponent before waiting

Aidric lets his squire arm him and then moves out to face Devlin cassomir in the lists. He makes the required salutes, still grim over his early defeat. "I'd best score a bloody point this time," he snarls at himself then, when the flag drops, he spurs on to meet the Cassomir, lance to lance.

Watching both of his cousins participating, Samuel raises an eyebrow momentarily as he sees Gabriel's result. "Interesting," he offers, before he readies himself as he is called out once more. Getting into position, he offers a grin and a nod to Thaddeus. "We meet again, Sir. May the best man win." Helm is put on, and he is ready to charge.

And Raimond advances too? Miranda applauds loudly, grinning from ear to ear. She says nothing yet, rising slightly from her seat to catch a better look at the close call, but in all she looks exceptionally pleased.

Devlin Cassomir rides to his starting position, saluting Aidric in turn, and looking as though he's about to say something, but he seems to get the impression Aidric's a bit..upset…so he lets it fall silent, and just lowers his lance and spurs on to the charge.

Thaddeus is displeased with the results of the matches that follow him and upon seeing Samuel again, Thaddeus gives a polite nod and no verbal response, out of politeness since he has nothing nice to say at this point. He readies his lance for the flag to drop and to charge.

While she's not one to cheer for others' misfortunes, Lorelei is shouting her praises loudly when Jon manages to do well in his first round. Genuinely pleased and with a smile to match she raises a fist in the air in a sign of support for his victory. If he'll look over, he'll see her waving to him, elated.

Eduard salutes Graham as they line up for the first pass. Jousting is just not his event as he does not manage to hit his mark in any of the passes. The knight given a salute,"Well ridden, Sir." Before he makes his way from the field.

Emilia sets up as Devlin manages to not only win but…unhorse..well Aidric. It would have been better if it had been a knight from Couviere. Though a glance towards Raelyn, no doubt her sister is pleased! "Devlin did of well…and of Graham of to. They are both of doing of better."

And this time, Samuel seems behind from the start. Taking three hard hits, while missing with his own, he wobbles a bit in the saddle, swaying… swaying and then sliding off the horse. Staying down for a while, before he's helped off the field.

Gabriel does not fare very well against Evelyn either, though he knows the l'Faust woman is skilled in mounted combat. Thus, he is far happier to not be unhorsed at all (unlike his poor cousin Samuel). He offers Evelyn a nod of his head and his congratulation, and then heads off the field to get out of his armor and get some water. God, he was still tired from yesterday.

Samantha hears her name called and then she trots out to meet Jonathan. She had watched him dispatch the l'Faust earlier and so she would be wary with this one. Still, she salutes and then waits.

Nadine rides out and glances across at Elrick. She would break him. She had to advance and try and win this in, even if jousting wasn't exactly her strong suit.

Raelyn grabs Emilia's hand as she tries to keep eyes on both Graham, and Devlin riding. Certainly the Cassomir woman who will soon be Viscountess has a vested interest in each. She nearly stands up when Devlin unhorses Aidric to cheer, but her eyes instead slide to Graham and then when he also wins she cheers, loudly for the two winning Cassomirs. She nudges Emilia, beaming with pride, "Told you he'd come back," she boasts, cheerfully. "And I told you Graham would win." As if Emilia would doubt her cousins or brothers potential! Which Raelyn knows she wouldn't. Raelyn just likes to brag about her family.

Evelyn l'Faust is uncharacteristically quiet. She gives the Red Knight his due, afterall, he is one of the Knights she has watched most of all from his storied runs at past Tourney's, not to mention her experience with him in the war. And her unseating has her set in a … mood? Perhaps. Gabriel, who knows her well might be able to tell the slight shift in the way she rides the horse, now. There is focus, certainly. There's always focus. But now? There's a bit of fire, lit. Determination. And, desperation? Maybe. Whatever that shift is, Evelyn is on point, reversing her other ride with something far more impressive, sinking her lance and hitting her opponent in each consecutive pass. She nods again to Gabriel, voices, tightly but with respect, "Well ridden, Sir. It was an honor." Then, she moves back to settle to wait her next ride.

Devlin Cassomir rides out, and despite (or perhaps because of) Aidric's frustration, he unhorses the man in the second pass, wheeling around to make sure the man gets up to his feet all right, and then offering him a salute, "You rode well, Sir. Fortune just seemed to favor me today." And with that, he moves off to the sidelines to watch the next batch of jousts and await his own next battle.

Raimond Giraldi watches the next round with moderate interest, trying not to think too much about who he's facing. After all, it wouldn't do to psyche oneself out, no? So when he finally moves back to his starting point, noting absently to himself that he won't be able to watch his brother's match, he lifts his visor and salutes Michael with a rueful smile, "I hope you will not think ill that I seek to redeem my defeats of yesterday, Sir. Good luck to you." He rasps, before lowering his visor and accepting his lance, and then spurring into the charge.

Graham makes the passes in his second round of listing. He manages to land two solid strikes to win his round. "Well fought indeed." he says as they ride off the field to gather a few moments of rest before he must go again. He'll hop off and grab some water and some adjustments to his armor while waiting.

Thaddeus' first lance shatters on impact, with his second and third passes proving to be fruitful, the last causing Samuel to be unhorsed. As he wheels around to return to teh sidelines, the Greycen knight raises his visor and looks down to Samuel and says, "You can leave the ransom with my steward." The voice bears some steel behind it, though Thad does not stick around for questions as he makes his way to the sidelines.

With his name called, Elrick knew that this was a very possible match up, especially with the way the knights were seeded for the Joust. With no upsets in his match and Nadine's, they are now facing each other. As he rides towards the tilts, the t'Tremaine Heir gives a glance in Nadine's direction, seeing that she is certianly serious, a shame she is too far away for him to offer her honeyed words to confuse her. Once more Elrick bows to the High Council box, salutes the Couviere royalty and spectators, and finally salutes Nadine who is across the tilt. Then helm is slipped on and he is ready, waiting for the signal.

Aidric is sent falling from his horse and into the dirt with a crash. "Bloody fucking Abyss!" he roars as he gets to his feet. He grits his teeth at Devlin's word. "Bah Abyss take luck," he says and then turns and marches off the field with his squire, remarking, "One point? Would that have been too much to ask?" he carries on as he is led to his tent.

Michael is agape to see his brother is out already. "Abyss…" he breathes with a shake of his head. Though there is no time to muse on it, instead he is mounting, arming, and making ready to fight Sir Raimond again, He salutes the man, grinning before he lowers his visor. Further salutes are made in the direction of the box and then he's off, leveling his lance at the southern knight.

Alexandra knows nothing of this Sir Leander, save the bits she's seen of him fighting in this tourney. Though, she's doing well and if she can keep herself together, she is confident in her victory. Making the proper salutes, she waits for the flag to be dropped and then charges full tilt towards her foe.

Up in the stands Cathrynn watches, poking her head up and around to try to catch sight of Graham when he leaves the field. Good, not limping. She settles back and looks around then rests her hands in her lap, idly rubbing over the soft, dark green fabric to smoothe it.

It's the evening of repeat offenders, it seems. Still smarting from where she'd hit him in the knee yesterday, Jon nods in acknowledgement of Samantha, replaces his helmet, and prepares to ride.

Both Giraldis on the field means that the Pacittan homefront has double the reason to cheer. Leander rides out to the field, flashing Rai a smile on the way past as he takes up his spot on the other end of the field, opposite Alexandra. He bows in his seat to her, then preps himself to ride. This…may hurt a little.

Emilia nods to Raelyn,"Of aye, you of did." Not that Emilia ever doubted either! Just…the prelims were..interesting. There is spirted clapping! And a bit of a corner tugging going on. A nod going to Cathrynn,"He is looking fine. Least he did not have to come of back from an unhorsing like of Devlin." Then again, maybe that helped her brother out! Turning to watch the next round of competitors, not quite so upon the edge of her seat. A round of clapping for them. But then..well Devlin and Graham are being called again. She looks to Raelyn,"Needing more of eyes to be of having to keep watching of both."

The third pass was not needed….not for Leander and Alexandra. While Leander got the better of Alexandra on the first pass…the second rocks him hard. He manages to stay in the saddle, but the third pass ended up being for show as both miss. With a slight grimace (never let the lady see you hurt) Leander offers a weak smile to Alexandra. "Good run, fair Sir. I pray that we meet once more…under less martial circumstances." Then, he rides over to take his mark once again.

Once the first exchange begins, Elrick is at a disadvantage as he was not able to score a point when the tip of his tourney lance glances off of Nadine's armor. However, he was able to even it up with the second exchange but after that, the t'Tremaine was able to show how comfortable and skilled he is on his horse. However, the t'Cadri is also proving to be just as skilled as they continue pass after pass. It was perhaps by a stroke of luck that Elrick remained standing, a result that stunned the Knight himself when he turns back, preparing for another exchange of lances when he sees his opponent on the ground. Riding over, he would most certainly see if she was all right, "Superb skill on the horse, Sir Nadine. Was an incredibly close contest."

Gastogne goes to watch the combats, sitting over in the commoner's stands then and sipping his ale, cheering out for anyonet hat catches his attention. Now far past any stage of betting, he watches merely for entertainment and enjoyment of feats of arms.

It is with the most interest that Sir Evelyn watches the match between Elrick and Nadine - and not only because she would call each of them her friend. There are other reasons. She nods to herself, approving of how well-matched these two are even on the jousting field, flincing behind her visor some when Nadine is finally unstead after so many tilts. She guides her horse then towards where she will ride from, saluting her friend, and now her competition. As it was with Elrick and Nadine, so it is with Evelyn. This is, afterall, competition. And there will be no leeway for friends given. It's a matter of respect towards the others capabilities.

Thankfully he doesn't manage to knock this lady off her horse with a blow to the neck, but Jonathan does manage to do an efficient job of avoiding being hit again. Though his victory over Samantha isn't quite so clear cut as the one over Evelyn, he still manages to advance after landing a few decent hits. He's pleased, though won't show it. Yet.

This time, it seems, Raimond narrowly edges out the heir to Murnord. While not nearly so decisive as Michael's victories over him in the Melee…he'll take it. He salutes Michael once more, "Well Jousted, Sir! Perhaps we'll yet meet again in the finals." And then he's off to the sidelines to watch Leander's next match, and consider his next opponent. The t'Maren knight he got a very fortunate strike on in the barenuckle brawl. Here's hoping THAT doesn't come back to bite him.

Devlin moves back to the starting lines, giving a salute towards Samantha and smiling, "I hope Destrian will forgive me, but let's give them a show, shall we?" He moves to accept his lance, and wait for the flag to drop so he can level it and charge at the Rosendal knight.

It is only after Leander tears his gaze away from Sir Alexandra when he realizes he rides against Sir Graham. A nod is given towards the Cassomir as Leander concentrates on this next bout. Hopefully things here fare better than they did for the duels for the younger Giraldi.

Alexandra allows herself a grin as her lance shatters against the Giraldi's shield. She turns and gives the knight a smile after desposing of the remains of her lance, then takes her place by her pavillion to make ready for ther next fight.

Michael pauses as he passes Raimond on the way back to their respective pavillions. "Seems like you did and no hard feelings," he says with an easy grin. "See you in the finals, sir." Then, he nudges his horse on and prepares for his next fight. Sir Thaddeus. One of the heroes of Three Crowns. He salutes the man smartly, and then when the flag drop charges with slow building momentum. He hoped for a good tilt.

Miranda isn't disappointed that Leander's been bested, but the frustration in her features could be said to come from unhappiness at watching her son fare poorly. She cheers for him as she did before, and for Raimond too, eager to see how the latter will do in his fight against this knight from Lonnaire.

Nadine is unhorsed after she goes pass after pass against Elrick. Grunting as she stands, she gives Elrick a look. They will discuss the ransom later. For now, it seems that she must go and face Evelyn l'Faust. A formiddable opponent.

Samantha doesn't fare as well against Jonathan as she had earlier. Still, she hadn't been unhorsed and that was more than enough to be happy about. Now she had to face the future King's brother. Saluting Devlin, she nods at him and then takes her lance.

It isnt much of a break but its something and soon he's mounting back up giving a new lance and making his way back out onto the lists. Graham looks back towards the stands he will smile before lowering his viser waving to Cathrynn and Emilia and Raelyn. He will turn his horse to face his opponant. He will rise his lance in salute to the other before lowering his visor and waiting for the calls to go.

Catching Graham's look, Raelyn gives a small wave to her cousin on the field, and smile of encouragement. She tells Emilia, "If he rides this as well as he did the last, Graham shall have another good victory." She looks pleased.

Cat looks over to Emilia and smiles then a nod to Raelynn as well, "We can hope.." and then he takes off and the Huntress winces when he takes a pretty solid hit. "Oh dear.." she murmurs quietly, watching the pass.

Emilia gives a little wave towards Graham in catching him looking up their way, before she nods on to Raelyn,"Of aye. He has a chance for it. " Though such words are barely spoken and that first pass is made with Graham taking a rather serious hit to the chest causing Emilia to cant her head a little. Though she is soon busy enough trying to track both Devlin and Graham's progress. There is clapping for Devlin's rounds and his advancement. Murmuring to Cathrynn,"I am of sure Graham is of alright.

Once was enough for losing. Both for the joust tonight and for the duels the previous night. Leander is not going to lose again…at least, not to Graham. His first pass rocks the Cassomir for a solid hit while the other two are glancing blows. But, Leander proves the better horseman as he dodges the lance of the Cassomir. A salute is given, as well as the words "Noble effort, good Sir." But…no more words…as he yet has to take the line to face off another Northerner. And a fair lady, to boot! Another winsome smile, as Leander salutes Evelyn, then lines up for another run.

Evelyn begins her tilts against Nadine. Nadine, too, might sense the 'difference', or change, however subtle, in Evelyn. The first two tilts are nearly even, a small hit for Evelyn at first, but it's the last tilt that Evelyn sees an opening and takes advantage of it to hit her friend with a powerful strick of the tourney lance. She nods her head, satisfied both at her own performance, and pleased the Snowshield gave her such competition. "Well ridden, Sir," she praises, her tone even, but sincere. Yet there is little rest. She now guides her horse to ride against Leander. Her brother, she remembers, bested her twice this Tourney. And it is time to get some recompense from them.

Raimond Giraldi once again makes some noise for his brother as he advances on to the next round, clapping his gauntlet on the thigh of his armor. But then it's time to head to the field again, and the forbidding-looking t'Maren knight across from him. He lifts his visor and salutes, simply speaking in that still-hoarse voice of his, "Good luck, Sir." And then he's taking up his lance and setting himself for the charge. This one isn't going to be easy….

Devlin Cassomir rather thoroughly defeats Samantha Rosendal, giving her an encouraging smile in the final pass as he salutes, "Better luck next time, Sir. I hope Des won't be too cross." And then he's moving back around to square off against the future Duke of Murnord. Well…judging from what he's seen so far tonight, Devlin isn't putting high odds on advancing beyond this round, but that doesn't mean he won't give it his all. "May the One favor us, Sir. Good luck to you." He says in salute, and takes up his lance to try to knock the fellow into the dirt.

Michael just manages to edge out the heir to Seaguard. He salutes the man as he departs the list for a brief cup of water, and then he is back again riding against Sir Devlin. There was no hiding how tired he was, his back and arms ached, but he was determined to keep going. He takes a moment to catch his breath then saluting his foe he calls out, "Luck to you, sir," then sets his focus on defeating the man.

Alexandra finds herself against Elrick again, she salutes him, and when the flag drops, she charges fast towards him her lance intent upon the center of his chest.

Having been tended to, and his armor removed, Samuel makes his way to the stands just in time to see Michael managing to advance. "Well done," he mutters, mostly under his breath, as he adjusts the dark shirt he's wearing, to make it fit a bit more comfortable. Looking around for a place to seat himself now, so he can watch the remaining tilts.

Watching Nadine and Evelyn, it is clear that Elrick is focused on that competition, both lancers veterans of the northern war. When the t'Cadri Knight takes a hard blow to the head, he winces. Even though it is a tourney lance, they can still hurt. However, he will be up next and the t'Tremaine Heir will have to focus his attention on his next opponent, once again the t'Artan Knight. As he rides to his side of the tilt, Elrick takes a moment ensure the black and white ribbon wrapped around his wrist, under his gauntlet, is fastened securely. Then he goes through with the formalities with the audience, then a salute to Alexandra.

Graham rides though cannot seem to land a strike to the other man. He himself takes a rather hard strike in the process. "Well listed." The Lily Knight says though he is upset with himself for such a poor showing he'll nod and move over towards the sidelines where he'll dismount and be checked on from that blow tot he chest. He removes his helm before looking to the stands frowning he waives but gives a sigh which can likely be seen even from there not best pleased nope, but mostly unharmed.

Raimond, in turn, is saluted with a raise of the lance before Jonathan aims. He's not counting any chickens, especially since he's the third in a row the heir to Bloodfield will face a second time or more in this tourney. He's ready, then, aiming the lance and spurring his chestnut horse to action.

Gastogne continues to alternatively cheer and wince over at the next exchange of blows then, otherwise crossing his legs over as the melee continues.

<COMBAT> Alexandra has been KO'd!

Evelyn rides towards the knight she is intent on leaving behind; and her first tilt gives her confidence she's going to do just that. Something in the match changes, though, whether it's over-confidence from her prior victories, or she is outmatched? She takes a solid hit to the head, and another hit in the final pass, failing to advance. She nods her head briefly to Leander, acknowleding the man who bested her before riding back to dismount her horse. She'll deal with the ransom later. She pulls her helmet off her head, her face one of tight rigidity. The usual expressive face if flat. Tense.

Cathrynn sighs softly for Graham, she knows that downtrodden look and she smiles in case he looks her way. She looks to Emilia and Raelyn, "Yes, he looks to be uninjured, which is good.. he was still quite sore from yesterday," she says to the sisters.

With Devlin called again, Emilia closer to the edge of her seat again. She knows her brother must be tired with so many matches near one after another. "Thinking both are being of tired," she comments on to Raelyn, with both Devlin and Michael not hitting…until Michael manages to get that glancing blow in. "He did of rather of well." With the days turn of jousting finished, Emilia does turn to make her way with the others from the grounds.

"We did do well," agrees Raelyn to her sister, and she smiles as well to Cathrynn. "It seems that competition has just gotten all that much better, yes? I half-wonder how Jaren would do in this field." She's seen enough of these, even if she isn't a Knight, to begin to easily pick out what sets apart the best from the rest.

Alexandra winces as she's thrown roughly into the dirt. "Bloody Abyss," she curses. Then gets to her feet. "Well ridden," she says to Elrick. "I'll see your ransom delivered before sun down," she promises before she departs. At least she would have a chance to redeem herself in the finals.

Michael salutes Devlin as he is edged out of the their contest on points. "You fight well," he says to the man. Though he was glad the day was done. He was tired and wanted nothing more than a hot bath, some wine and some heal oil rubbed on what must be his many bruises. Tiredly, he turns his horse towards his pavillion, where he can begin such a night with the prelude of sitting while his men-at-arms removed his plate.

Devlin Cassomir just can't seem to get a hit in on Michael l'Corren, and while he only manages to take a glancing blow, it's enough to put the northern Knight ahead on points. He gives the man a salute and a smile, "Well jousted Sir. Until next time." He wheels his horse about, and gives a wave towards Emilia in the stands, before moving off to start seeing to his armor and horse. If he's figuring his math right, he thinks he'll still break even on ransoms, which ought to please Jaren and Raelyn well enough. Ah well, he did better than he expected. Time for a good rest and to enjoy the remainder of the week.

It isnt much to do if any injury just a wrapping up of his chest for saftey sake. Graham does catch the look from Cathrynn and smiles in return the best he can. The jousts conclude for the day and so the Lily Knight will meet up with his family of course giving Cathrynn as proper public kiss. "I will get better at this joust one day." he says but he sighs smiling though as they walk off the area to return likely for the next bits of games in days to come.

He'd been doing so well…and then Raimond Giraldi smashes Jon in the face, knocking off his helmet and bloodying his nose. It's after yet another hit to his ribs, and, while it's still unconfirmed if he's broken that aggravated rib or not, that really freaking hurt. The discomfort stops him from aiming well and, while he dodged the first, he couldn't dodge the last. He snorts when he manages to make it upright again, blood spraying before he takes a gloved hand and wipes at that poor nose with the back of it. "Well struck," he offers genuinely, urging his horse off to the sidelines.

On the first pass, Leander takes a pretty decent hit to the neck, which causes his own lance to go wide, allowing Evelyn to easily dodge it. Rubbing at his neck, Leander charges for his second pass….and shatters his lance soundly upon the northern knight's helm. Perhaps not the nicest retaliation, but certainly effective. Then, with a fresh lance, the third pass earns Evelyn a blow to the chest from the younger Giraldi. After the third pass, a tired, but pleased Leander rides up to Evelyn, offering her a bow from within the saddle. "It has been an honor to have faced you, fair Sir…."

Those who have seen Elrick joust before may see the knight using a more conservative approach than he has in the past. The young knight appears to be more focused on his riding than landing lance shattering blows with his tourney lance, his opponents scoring minimal amount of points against him. The same goes for his last tilt of the day as he manages two decent hits on Alexandra, the last unhorsing her, while giving away no points. Turning his steed around and tossing his still intact lance away, Elrick rides back to the downed opponent. Seeing that she is all right, he bows his head after removing his helm, "Well ridden to you as well, Sir. Best of luck against the l'Corren." With that, he slowly heads back towards his pavilion where his squire no doubts awaits him.

Though Elrick's performance today was not spectacularly flashy with shattered lances left and right due to impressive strikes, he has continue to push through the bracket with victories and two unhorsings. Pleased with the results as he is better at the joust than the melee, the t'Tremaine Heir dismounts after Joseph takes a hold of the horse's reigns, heading inside his pavilion to have his armor removed and refresh himself. A second day of jousting will await him.

Gastogne winces, and lets out an applause over at the exchange between the Rivanan knight and his opponent. Watching as the Lily Knights exchange in the melee. And otherwise resting his hands upon his lap then, his palms sore from cheering and his throat raw as he goes to chug another bit of wine.

Raimond Giraldi rides out against the t'Maren Knight, and while he manages at first a middling strike, the next that lands causes a spectacular explosion of splinters as it connects with Jon's helm. Inwardly, Raimond winces as the helm comes off, and hopes he hasn't hurt the man too badly. Not that he cares for him personally, but it'd reflect poorly and people would assume he'd been trying to kill the fellow or some other scurrilous rumor that his family's enemies would spread. He returns Jon's salute, rasping once more, "Good luck in the finals, Sir. Perhaps we'll meet again." And then he too is off to the sideline, probably to find his brother and give him a big hug and a hearty congratulations, before the pair of them head off to celebrate their good string of luck and skill so far.

Watching the end of the day's action, Samuel smiles a little. "Was a good event, even though some of us made fools out of ourselves," he comments to himself, before getting to his feet so he can get some rest. A long soak seems in order now too.

Evelyn's defeat elicits a dispairing groan from Lucas and a deep frown. One that grows deeper still when he sees her expression after the fight. He is half out of his seat but makes himself sit back down. Best to let her be for now, though he does send one of the l'Saigner servants for a skin of ale. There would likely be call for it later.

Now Miranda rises fully, cheering for both sons with a booming "GIRALDI!" shouted at the top of her lungs. Even shouting seems to become her, the effort putting a healthy color in her cheeks and the smile making her radiate pride and glee. Clearly pleased, she resumes her seat in a moment or two, trying hard not to look smug. It's nearly impossible.
