Tourney Grounds - Sunsreach - Rivana

An open space in the middle of the city the tourney grounds is a wide flat field divided by rose bushes that have been allowed to grow here since the ascension of Queen Alysande.

The outer ring of the grounds is set aside for competitor pavilions and the stalls of merchants and food sellers fortunate enough to win a space from the master of the games to ply their trade. The inner ring is the tourney grounds themselves; a flat oval of earth ringed by a fence with openings on each end and a high gallery to one side and a flat open space to the other. On tourney days the fence is freshly whitewashed, the rose bushes are trimmed and the gallery is swathed in green and gold cloth while all around spectators and competitors mingle with gallery filled with nobles and the common folk packing in cheek and jowl across the lists to watch whatever event is on offer be it the melee, archery or that highest of competitions: the joust.

When the grounds are not in use the lists are off-limits to casual visitors and the grounds remain fanatically well-tended, lest the field become uneven and some future match be lost due to loose dirt or a wayward puddle.

Decembre 11th, 1866

The tourney grounds are packed for the first night of the joust… what many consider to be the highest form of knightly combat. The Queen and her King are in their Royal box along with their Princes and Princesses (and one Princess-to-be). For those in the nobles stands there is a plethora of drinks being served from wine to lemonwater and orangewater.

The field is abuzz as the knightly of both kingdoms is arrayed before the royalty of Rivana, preparing for their jousts. Tonight’s competition is more about points than 'winning', so the knights out there mostly have adjusted their strategy accordingly.

Of course, unhorsing one's opponent is the best way to earn Circuit points…

Rather upset at the results of the free for all, Thaddeus Greycen is mounted and rather grim in his expression. His helm is on and his visor is down. Ariane's favor is wrapped around his lance arm, but right now he is quiet, and a little bit angry as he awaits the order to charge.

Armor cleaned and polished, lance at the ready, Evelyn l'Faust is ready, if not hard-pressed to find a silver lining, save the challenge itself, of facing Sir Thaddeus Greycen in the first round of the prelims. Still, she knows she's a fine horse, and the training and skill to win. The man's clear expression of anger she might be able to take advantage of; or might have reason to wage caution. But, she leads her horse to the starting position, and she, too, waits for the call to charge.

Raimond Giraldi rides out to his mark, lifting his visor and offering a hand lifted in salute to Justin t'Acuto, "Well met Sir, and good luck to you! Just…slightly less good than my own, I hope!" The heir of Watch Hill grins and lowers his visor, taking up his lance from his squire and preparing himself for the charge.

Leander Giraldi takes his place at the end of the lists. His half-plate shined to a gleam in the afternoon sun. The Giraldi knight had few supporters in the crowd but Leander pays that little mind as salutes the royal box, his mother and sister in the stands, and then finally his foe Sir Quentyn.

Lancers had it easy when it came to tourneys the crowds were ever in their favour. Quentyn Bazan, however was particularly well loved. Blowing a kiss to a girl there, a wink and a laugh at the common boys struggling to climb the fence and touch his green Lancer's cloak before he finally takes a lance from his squire and then rides on to the lists. Once there he salutes the royal box with a gallant bow for the queen then a salute for his opponent.

Sir Antonia l'Valdan is riding in… yes, the Joust Preliminaries today. It is known that the Princess may be more versed in the use of swords than lances, even so, it is a knightly discipline she has been trained in in the years when she squired - before her marriage to Prince Silvio l'Valdan. With her taking part for the first time in a tournament, it seems Antonia has been busy during the last weeks of refreshing her memory on the art of jousting. The expression on her face may look slightly doubtful as she scans the crowds in the stands, lingering perhaps for a moment longer where her husband and her son are watching. The favor of Prince Silvio is wound about her upper right arm, to give her lance strength, her left hand pulls at the reins of her dapple grey stallion, the steed prancing in reaction to the tension it senses in its rider. When the herald calls out the names for the first pairings, Antonia l'Valdan lowers her visor of the helmet in the shape of a falcon's head, accepts the shield from a squire, and rides to her place in the lists. She studies her opponent, Sir Samuel l'Corren from afar, inhaling deeply as she gathers her focus, before she offers him a salute with her lance, while staying otherwise silent.

Michael l'Corren had spent the bulk of the week resting after his wounds in the hunt and the drubbing that Raimond Giraldi gave him in the melee. Now though the heir to Murnord is his usual buoyant self and is smiling before he slaps his visor down and takes a lance from his squire. When he takes his place, he salutes the queen and Lord Eduard his foe, then when the signal is given he spurs his horse charging forth to knock the man into the dust.

Lord Joffrey t'Synclarre inclines his head towards Broderick Tracano, calling out as he takes up his Lance, "Hail, Sir Broderick. It is my honor to joust against you today. May the One favor us both to compete to the best of our abilities!" And that greeting having been given, Joffrey sets himself for the charge. Though not before sparing a glance towards the stands towards the Lady whose favor he wears about his arm, giving her a wink before lowering his visor.

Taking part in this event, the first for him this time, Samuel has been watching the people rather carefully. As it's time to get ready, he nods at the announced pairings, and prepares himself, riding to his place and offering a polite salute to Antonia as well. Prepared and ready, he waits for the signal to charge.

Gabriel l'Saigner doesn't ae to anyone, doesn't salute anyone or call out or draw any sort of attention to himself. All he can think about right now is getting through this event. That is one less event and then he can focus his life on more productive matters. He will simply give Devlin Cassomir a nod and then slam his visor down and take his lance in hand.

"So hard to follow who's fighting who," Aidric remarks to his squire as he settles into his seat. Still, as many knights that were on the field, Aidric only had eyes on a few, Thaddeus was one, Ned another, and Broderick rounded out the three. Though however he only had coin on one of them. "You'd best win," he murmurs to his friend on the lists.

Tiadora's almost late! Mostly late. But she hurries her way into the boxes and smiles at Aidric. " I didn't miss it, did I?" She is panting from the exertion.

"No, not yet, they're just getting set," Aidric answers as he shifts over to let Tia sit. "They're running them all at once today, so spot your favorites now, it will be chaos when the games begin," he offers with a smile.

Justin t'Acuto takes his place and returns the salute towards Raimond, "Well, then I shall have to hope my skill is enough to overcome your luck, Sir, however good it may be." He jests back, and readies himself for the signal to begin.

Among the spectators is Adrienne Cassomir, dressed in tunic and leggings of a Huntress, even so her hair is done in a different way than usual, let down in part, while a number of tinier braids starting at her temples are joined at the back of her head. Adrienne follows the proceedings attentively, her gaze shifting only briefly towards the Carling who does not stand too far away. "Who?" This the monosyllabic question in Aidric's direction. A smile is offered Tiadora. "Oh… you're just in time, Lady Tiadora. I'm not yet sure who I shall bet on… So many Northerners in the field…"

(some poses missing probably)

Tiadora is rooting for Devlin apparently. She spots the handsome Cassomir knight and cheers as he rides against Gabriel, striking some fierce blows. She smiles over at Adrienne with girlish enthusiasm. "We have a few of our brave men on the field. Not as many as I hoped, but good ones all the same. Where is Sir Graham? No Lily Knight?"

Gabriel charges forward, lance lowered. The first pass is a miss for him and he feels Devlin score a hit against him. He reigns in and turns and charges forward for the second pass. This time the two knights miss one another. The third and final pass sees Gabriel finally notch a hit but Devlin hits him hard. He almost falls off his horse, but is able to control himself and maintains his seat. He gives the Cassomir a nod and then makes his way back to a starting position, exchanging his lance for a new one and getting ready to ride once again.

Tiadora also claps when she spies Justin on the field. So chaotic! So many Knights…

Steeling herself, and focusing solely on her opponent rather than scouting future potential combatants she might have to face, Sir Evelyn rides forward, striking hard on the first and third passes, managing only to take a blow herself on the last against the proven prowess of Sir Thaddeus. She nods to Thaddeus, then, her expression hidden under her helmet, but pleased at the outcome of the runs. "An honor to joust against you, Sir." This is sincere. She knows, afterall, how tough a bastard the man is. She's watched him in enough Tourney's, and been in the melee with him before.

Raelyn Cassomir squeezes in just after Tiadora, and settles near her cousin and the other woman, along with Aidric. She, too, is rooting for her brother. "I was certain my cousin would be competing," she tells Tiadora, warmly. She leans over, looking at Adrienne's hair. "I -do- love your hair, Adrienne," she mentions to her cousin. "Devlin seems to be faring well enough, though. Good."

"Huntress," Aidric greets Adrienne with a spare sort of courtesy, his eyes fixed on the field. Though he does spare a glance for Raelyn's arrival, bowing his head. "Viscountess," he remarks, before nodding to Tia. "So I assume then the favourite of you three is Sir Devlin?" he asks.

Antonia's first tilt goes better perhaps than expected, she manages a solid hit on Sir Samuel in the first pass, while evading his lance. The second pass is less eventful, with both lances not even connecting. The third pass meanwhile has Antonia's lance skitter over Sir Samuel's armor, and a low curse leaves her lips when the tip of his lance grazes over the neck protection of her armor.

For Joffrey t'Synclarre, his Joust seems off to a good start. Three passes, and three solid strikes, with the third sending Sir Broderick off of his horse altogether! And with nary a scratch for himself in return. He lifts his visor once more after handing off his lance, making sure Broderick gets to his feet all right before speaking, "Well jousted, Sir." And with that, he moves off to prepare for the next round. Offering much the same courtesies to Leander Giraldi as he lines up, "Well met Sir, and luck to us both."

Lady Gwendolyn t'Synclarre looks positively elated in the stands, calling out a cheer when Broderick hits the ground, though she does look a touch abashed at her outburst and settle back down into her seat just after, also looking a touch concerned for the shattered lance against her brother, though glad to see him tall in the saddle afterwards.

Waiting, waiting for the signal to charge, and then Samuel urges Miramis forward, faster, faster, readying the lance… and missing, while taking a lance solidly to his arm. Second pass comes with another miss, and the third managing to at least graze armor. But unlike some others, he stayed in the saddle, right? A polite nod is offered to Antonia again. "Well jousted," he offers to her, before he moves to get ready for the next one.

Adrienne's head turns when Raelyn joins them, an odd little smile playing across the corners of her lips at the compliment. "Umm… yes, I couldn't show up with the usual braid… or so Clara told me…", she mutters. That smile broadening then at Aidric's question. "Yes, of course! I am cheering for my dear cousin Devlin." A light shake of the head following, as the freckled Cassomir regards Tia. "My brother was detained… I am sure he would put up a good showing, if he were here…"

Not a bad first run for Raimond Giraldi. A couple of points scored, and none scored against him. He gives Justin another salute as they move off the field, and then moves to line up against his next opponent, only to shake his head and laugh, "You know, Sir Michael, we really do seem to be falling into a pattern here. But all the same, I'll do my best to repeat my path at the Pacitta Tourney. Just as I know you'll do your best to stop me. But it is an honor all the same." He beams brightly, before lowering his visor, taking up his lance, and preparing to charge once more.

Michael is a good deal less buoyant when he's finished his meagre joust with the Farrant lord. He salutes the man and then moves off for a moment to collect himself. He pulls the sun medallion out of his armor and kisses it, then does the same for the blue and white garter wrapped around his hand under his shield. Then, with the powers of love and faith behind him he rides out to take his lance. When he hears it will be Raimond he faces, he smiles and salutes the man eagerly, looking forward to the challenge.

Tiadora offers a shrug to Aidric, "I guess," she says as tries to act casual. No adoring teenage crush here, no. "Tell him I was sad he didn't ride, he'd appreciate that," the Gerrell girl says to Adrienne. She smiles at Raelyn and changes the topic blatantly with, "How is your husband feeling after that boxing match?"

Michael grins at his opponent's words. "So it seems," he says with an eager grin. "Whatever the outcome, I am counting on broken lances for the both of us!" he calls after the man, then he does the salutes and so forth as honour demanded.

"You were a fine opponent, Sir Samuel," Antonia offers in turn, inclining her head with a smile offered beneath the raised visor. "Good luck to you in your next tilt…" Then the next pairings are called, and the l'Valdan princess knight rides on to resume her place in the lists, a smile offered to Sir Evelyn, as she salutes her with the lance, then lowers her visor, grabs shield and reins as she urges her dapple grey stallion onwards, lance lowered and aimed to unhorse.

Thaddeus makes the requisite three passes, though he is rather upset at the results. He says nothing to his opponent save a brief nod and soon has returned with a lance to await his next opponent, praying that his fortune would turn around.

Gabriel gives Quentyn a nod and then rides forth. First pass? Nothing. Second pass? Again nothing. Third pass? Neither knight scores a single point against each other. Lifting his visor, he gives the Royal Lancer a nod. Better left uninjured and good for the future than nothing, he supposed. "Well ridden." He nods once more and rides back to the start as it seems yet another round is being called for.

"That's how it's done!" Aidric cheers suddenly fist pumping in the air when Thaddeus puts his opponent in the dirt. That would make up a great deal for the low scoring in the melee. Fortunately for Tiadora, that sudden excitement puts him off that poor cover for her interest in Devlin. "Anyhow, what we were discussing?" he asks.

Evelyn nods to the Princess, "An honor, Your Highness. May you joust well." Little does she know how well her words, and the Princess' skill will be. She moves forward, spurning her horse onwards, much as she did against Thaddeus. She scores a solid hit against Antonia, but Antonia's hit is more solid, perfect, and Evelyn is pitched off her mount. She gets up, showing she's uninjured and nods to the other woman, shaking her head. "Well jousted." She's displeased with herself, clearly, but can't argue the woman scored the better hit. She makes her way to mount for the next series.

Raelyn looks over towards Aidric, but only after cheering for Devlin's win. "How my brother is going to win the joust?" She suggests, with a coy smile. She remarks, "Sir Thaddeus could yet give him a challenge, though," she agrees to Aidric.

Sir Antonia l'Valdan holds her lance in a tight grip, her grey eyes focusing on the target that is Sir Evelyn l'Faust, and for a moment time seems to slow down, the hooves of her steed thundering beneath her, as she rides to meet her opponent in the middle of the lists, lance clashing against shield, Evelyn's lance hitting home and causing what will become a moderate bruise later; while Antonia's lance hits home with momentum, shattering in the process… whilst pushing her opponent out of the saddle in the first pass!!! Antonia rides on till she has reached the end of the list, not quite comprehending yet, before she wheels her horse around, turning and riding back. Dismounting even to give Evelyn a hand. "Thank you, Sir," she replies to the congratulations. "You were a worthy opponent. Good luck in your next…"

Tiadora claps for Thaddeus' victory as well, because Rivanan pride is important. Mostly, though, she watched Devlin's fine showing. "Well. As long as one of our knights wins," she says diplomatically.

Raimond manages one good strike on Michael in their three passes, and does indeed break the lance, albeit not shattering it. As they pass once more on their way to their next challenge, Raimond adds, "A well-jousted match, Sir. I doubt I'll be so unscathed should we meet again." And then he's off to line up against Samuel.

Adrienne applauds for Devlin, a sideways glance offered to Aidric as she seems to agree with Raelyn there. "Devlin is in good form today," she remarks with a wink. "And as long as Rivana gives a good showing, I shall be content, even so… We Cassomirs are known to be quite persistent."

Well, it would seem he's had better days doing this than the current one. Samuel ends up with missing his opponent in his first two tries, while only taking a slight scratch to his armor as well. But in the third, he manages to hit his Cassomir opponent in the chest, while taking a hit to the chest as well. "Well done," he offers to his opponent, before moving off to get redy for the third, nodding as he hears who he'll face next. A nod and a smile is offered to Raimond as he gets ready to face the man once more.

Thaddeus grins as his fortune does seem to reverse and he finds the northern knight on the ground. After raising his broken lance in salute to the crowd, Thaddeus returns to his position to await the next round.

Well, not so good for his second round, but Joffrey still manages to score a point against his opponent, without Leander scoring any against him. "Well fought Sir. I'll look forward to seeing you in the brackets." And then he's off to prepare himself to joust against Jordan t'Acuto, giving the man a salute and a smile, "Well, no matter the outcome, Couviere wins, doesn't it? Good luck to you, Sir."

Michael frowns is cracked once in the chest, but fails to land any blows again. "I should hope so," he calls after Raimond before he switches out his lance and moves to face the Tracano knight.

Leander for his part makes no gains against Joffrey but still makes a bow from the saddle and then sets up to face his next foe, the Champion of Couviere.

Quentyn takes his poor showing with good grace, but then nobody can see him frown under his helm. Though his anger is all with himself. "C'mon, Quentyn," he mutters to himself. "Just hit the bastards," then he takes his lance and gives Elrick a salute across the field.

Up in the stands, Dawn softly winces at Quentyn, giving a half salute from her position then as she observes him, her hands clasped together then and giving him a nod.

After offering Devlin Cassomir a salute with the lance, Antonia l'Valdan rides on, her lance lowered and once again aimed to unhorse. Neither of the lances seems to connect in the first pass. A low curse escapes her when Devlin manages a moderate hit in the second pass, the impact of his lance causing her another bruise on her abdomen. The third pass is once again without hit. "Well ridden, Sir Devlin," is the courteous remark offered to the Rivanan with a hint of coldness in her tone, even so she offers: "Congratulations, you've won this round," soon after.

(probably poses missing)

Tiadora gushes, "He's doing so well!" She smiles at the Cassomir ladies and adds, for Aidric, "Sir Devlin versus Ser Thaddeus, that'd be the best match ever!" She claps for Justin and Thaddeus' match just as enthusiastically although without the fan girl adoration.

Facing the Champion. Leander offers the customary salute and then…at the appropriate time, rides to trade lances. Both are rather cautious with their first two passes. The third ends up in Gabriel's favor…as Leander takes a solid hit in the chest, his own strike just catching the hand of the Couvieri in passing. A nod is given to Gabriel, and Leander rides off….no doubt to contemplate exactly what he needs to do for the future brackets.

"Seems like he won that round against the Northerner princess," Adrienne states with a smile for Tiadora's obvious enthusiasm in regards to a certain Sir Devlin Cassomir. "A pity Graham couldn't be here…", is murmured in a sigh, more to herself, as the freckled Cassomir allows her gaze to drift over the lists, where the participants of the Joust Preliminaries wave and show off to the thundering applause of the people in the stands.

Dawn watches from her place in the stands, her hands clasped together after she watches Quentyn, looking down over and paying strict attention.

And Clarke is paying attention to the bout of the circuit champion. The man is the best for a reason, so he can definitely learn from this!

(probably poses missing, DCed again)

"Well jousted, Sir!" Raimond calls out to Samuel, passing in farewell one more time after they each score but a single point in their passes, and with that Raimond moves off the field, riding to catch up with his brother, giving him a clap on the shoulder and noting, "Well, if you're only going to score one point, at least it was against one of the titans on the field."

"Focus…" Samuel mutters to himself, shaking his head briefly before he brings Miramis forward towards his opponent. Lance ready, he frowns as he doesn't get a proper hit in. "Focus!" At least it seems to work a bit better this time, although he has to receive as much as he gave. And in the third pass, he simply misses. "Well done…" he offers to Raimond, offering the man a brief smile.

Joffrey actually winces as his first strike sends his lance flying into splinters against Jordan's helmet. Certainly not his intent to hurt the fellow, but these things happen in the Joust. Still, Jordan remains in the saddle, though clearly dazed enough that Joffrey scores a second hit that sends the fellow off his horse and into the dirt. As before, the t'Synclarre lord waits to make sure Jordan is well before saluting, "I am glad you're well, Sir. Good luck in the brackets." And with that, Sir Joffrey heads off to the sidelines, where he's soon joined by his quite-pleased wife, who quite unabashedly shows her affection by throwing her arms around him and giving him a thorough kiss. She doesn't even seem all that embarassed about the public display, either. Nor, for that matter, does Joffrey, who just grins and offers his arm as they move off towards the arming tents.

There is a shrug and a chuckle from Leander to his brother. "I would have rather not taken that strike to the chest. That man hits like a hammer." It is apparent that Leander is not exactly pleased with his outing…but not exactly upset, either. Alas…he probably expected his showing.

Tiadora Awww at Joffrey and his wife. "How sweet," she says to the ladies. "Look how cute they are! Kissing in public.." Spying Dawn in the crowds she gives a slight wave in greeting.

Aidric seems reasonably pleased by Thaddeus' final round of jousting, though not so excited as he had been before. He sinks into his seat again after standing so suddenly to cheer. When Tia remarks of Joffrey, he looks the knight's way, and rolls his eyes at the kiss. "There is a place for that sort of thing," he remarks with a sardonic smile.

Michael rides away from his battle with Broderick feeling that he had at least scored some points in this event. He had a long climb ahead of him though if he wished to become circuit champion. He sighs as he dismounts, but seeing Antonia and having earlier noted her sending another knight to the dust, he gives her a wave and a nod. "Glad you're fighting for our side."

Adrienne continues to watch the proceedings down there, the kiss Tiadora has been getting all excited about, briefly drawing her attention. "How very unusual a couple," she comments with a slight roll of her eyes, that shift to Aidric as he gives his sardonic comment. Lingering there for a moment, before she turns away after catching his gaze, brows lifting. "I'm glad Devlin did his big sister proud…", the freckled Cassomir states to her Viscountess cousin.

The rounds done for the day, Evelyn moves over to join Michael, and Antonia, both. Again she nods to the Princess, "Highness. Your Grace," To Michael. She gives them both a wide grin, telling Antonia, "Well placed lance, Your Highness. Though I pity you scored those points against me." She looks to Michael, "I hear you fared well also. Her Highness managed to unseat me, however. I shall have to recover the points in the brackets." She shakes her head some, still smiling faintly. "I wonder if battlefield mentality does not play a part for some of us, though, in such mock battles, such events as this of skill. Challenging. Fun, even. But, no dire threat. No urgency beyond the sense of competition." She shrugs, once. "Something to contemplate."

Samuel smiles as he starts moving off the field as well, offering a grin to those nearby. Looking rather relaxed as he studies the others present.

Raelyn looks to Tiadora, smiles, just a little. "They're quite in love. Lucky, they are. Very few of us get to wed the one we love. Rather, such love is most often amongst nobles gleaned -after- the marriage has come about. Or, at least, after it's been made official and in that interim period before the actual wedding occurs." She is among those who is lucky, of course. She promises Tiadora, "I'm certain you will find someone fitting you." Then she looks to Adrienne. "Of course, that just leaves you and Devlin," teasing, some.

Dawn breaks over into applause at the latest exchange, otherwise craning her neck for the moment to try and get a look at some of the other nobles in the stands, looking for those who are familiar and those she recognizes.

Clarke watches the latest exchanges, impressed at the blows then, and wincing in a bit of sympathetic pain over for those who hits.

Antonia has raised the visor of her helmet before undoing those leather straps that keep it in place, a relieved sigh escaping her as she draws the helmet off her head, revealing dark blonde tresses that have been done into braids. Noticing Michael l'Corren, a warm smile flashes in her mien and she dismounts. "I was… alas, I had to face off in the first two rounds against Couvieri… Sir Samuel at first… then Sir Evelyn…" Spotting the latter, Antonia takes a step towards the l'Faust lady. "One above, are you alright?" She smiles, inclining her head to Evelyn's words. "Of course… this is merely the games to show off and entertain. Even so… I am so glad to finally be able to compete… It would reflect poorly on me if I did speak any ill of the contests…"

Tiadora looks down, chastised by Aidric's comment although likely not his intent. 'Well.. That was still a fun match." She looks up to nod to Raelyn. "My brother will be very careful in who he contracts with for me. My mother likely wouldn't have cared as long as it gained her something, but he will at least pick someone who I can be happy with."

Adrienne rolls her eyes at Raelyn's remark, which would appear friendly to others but feels in fact more like a threat to the freckled Cassomir cousin. "Of course," she says, lowering her gaze. "And Graham as well. But… there shall be plenty of time for such… singling out of potential matches, right, cousin?"

Michael nods. "Such is the way of things," he says of Antonia facing off against Couvieri. "Still at least we didn't have that fat pig of a Chancellor messing with the pairings this time. Nearly caused a damn riot," Michael mutters and looks to Evelyn. "You remember don't you?" he says before he nods to her musings. "Yes, this is just fun and games, but certainly fun. I welcome it, I certainly had my fill of battle last year."

"Oh, -I remember-," Evelyn states to Michael, with certainty. "And for a little while, I had my suspicions as to who was behind it." She shakes his head, not speaking them as either it didn't matter, or her suspicions had proven wrong and she's no desire to cast blame anywhere. Still, she smiles back to Antonia, "Quite well. One of the first things I learned how to do as a Squire was to fall, Your Highness. I was a bit - overzealous, in my younger days," she admits, with a bit of humor. "But I do find the competition to be exhilerating. And yes, it's good to relax and just enjoy oneself."

Raelyn laughs, just a little, "Time, yes," she agrees to Adrienne. There's warmth in her voice, and a look of reassurance to her cousin, before she glances to Tiadora again, nodding. "Your brother does well by you then." She smiles, brightly. "Though, I don't imagine that my brother would mind some company, if you desired to wish him well," she says, innocently enough.

Aidric rolls his eyes at how quickly Tiadora yields the verbal sparring match, but all the same moves on to remark on the rest of the conversation. Briefly catching Adrienne's eye before he continues on and holds forth on the subject at hand. "The way I heard it said, that love before marriage is unnatural as planting wheat fully grown," he says. "Where's the fun if you're already happy, indeed, where's the fun at all? Marriage is like hiring a cook that only serves one dish. But, it does seem like a good many people are blessed with love matches, our king and queen and apparently this Joffrey for another."

He glances back to his squire then, "Kieran, go send someone to see if there is that meat on a stick from the other day, these food metaphors are making me hungry."

Tiadora comments to Kieran, "Look for the blue and yellow awning over by the man selling the oranges." Of course she knows where they would be. She looks back at Raelyn with wide eyes and a pallor to her pudgy cheeks. "Oh no! I mean, I'm so sure your brother is busy with well wishers and getting seen to and…. Everything."

Antonia nods pensively to Michael's remark about the arranged pairings at the Pacitta tourney, "Yes, that was an odd business. So…" Her grey eyes flit back and forth between Evelyn and Michael, "are you going to compete in the Joust Brackets? I may pass on those…" Her gaze flits to where her horse is seen to by a squire. "The lance… has never been quite my favorite discipline. Whereas the sword… I mean… I've put it to good use, and I hope to do it again, when it is really required." Her gaze lingering on the l'Corren for a moment there, before her attention returns to Evelyn. "A nice fall, indeed. I should go and practice falling some more. I'm glad I was not unhorsed today."

Clarke sits back then, glancing over and applauding at some of the competitors and looking up at the stands, grinning as he watches the preliminaries, "Aye, someday." Someday perhaps he'll be the one to fall flat on his aft in them.

Adrienne shoots Raelyn a glance at her cousin's very innocent proposal to Tiadora, the freckled Cassomir's brows knitting, her eyes widening in an almost glare as if to say 'are you really doing this…?' Aidric's comment will draw a snort from her nose and her attention. And suddenly a sweet smile blossoms on freckled features and Adrienne turns to face the Carling with a raised brow. "The King and the Queen. This Joffrey." Unable to remember the Couvieri surname belonging to 'this Joffrey', perhaps. "And our beloved Cassomir Viscountess and her Count. All prime examples that true love does exist and isn't that uncommon. Maybe there is hope for the Edge after all? And our view of it, completely misplaced?", she asks, with only a hint of mockery in her tone.

Kieran, nods to Tiadora. "Yes cousin," he says before slipping off in search of food. Aidric for his part smirks at Tiadora. "Something you're not telling me cousin?" he asks after Raelyn's question. Adrienne's response earns a slight upwards tug of his lips. "The Viscountess too?" he asks looking to Raelyn. "Hm, congratulations then," he says speaking of the love match and not the wedding. "Yes, I suppose there is hope for the Edge, horay for us all I suppose," he remarks with a shake of his head.

"What can you do, it's Pacitta?" Michael offers the Princess with a shrug. "I intend to joust in the brackets," he continues, before rolling his shoulder and glancing at it with a concerned frown, "And the duels if I am feeling up to it. What of you Your Highness?" he asks, and then spares a glance for Evelyn. "I already know your plans," or rather he's guessed them, but then Evelyn was a staple of the tourney circuit.

Raelyn merely nods to Tiadora, instead of pressing the matter. "Of course," she says, with a smile and says no more on the matter. She tilts her head back to Adrienne, before she admits, "I cannot say I am unhappy with whom I have been wed to. But tell me, cousin. Will you be competing in the archery contest?" Curious. She looks over to Aidric, then. "Perhaps. But there is something to be said for chance, too, Lord. Though my parents were not so fortunate and they were content enough. Stephen and I, and Jaren and Alsyande; we will have other challenges." A wry smile, then.

Evelyn nods to Antonia, "Aye. I will be competing in the brackets. And hope to do well enough to score a few more points. I am hardly in the running to win the competition, or the Tourney Circuit for that matter. I think Sir Michael, or his brother, will have that honorific." She smiles at Michael, "Far better Knights than I, both. But, I enjoy the challenge. The drive it inspires myself, to work harder."

Tiadora comments softly to Raelyn. "He is very handsome. Your husband, I mean." She now turns red as a beet as she looks back at Aidric. "Uh nothing? Um I mean. I should get home now that it's done."

Adrienne nods, drawn from her slightly sarcastic exchange with Aidric when Raelyn asks her about the Archery. "Of course! I shall compete this time. After all this is about honouring our King and Queen. And our new Viscountess and her husband." The latter added indeed with a smile, from cousin as well as Huntress sister.

"Uh-huh," Aidric says to Tiadora with a bit of a wicked smile forming on his lips. "We shall speak of this later no doubt," he says, his tone teasing rather than chiding. "Chance is well, chancy," Aidric reasons to Raelyn. "Better to have a hand in one's own fate, such as you Jaren and Alysande have now," a slight thoughtful frown, "Lord Joffrey too if I heard right and he's a Great Lord…" he snorts. "Damn the lot of you, you've your hand on the rudder of your own destiny and spouses you can stand, the world has been uncommonly kind to all of you," he says in amused distress. "I hope, Kieran thinks to bring wine."

Tiadora quickly heads away with her guards, looking embarrassed which is a fairly natural state for her.
