Tournament Grounds - Venderos

The tournament grounds stand ready for use at a moment's notice. The stands are setup with the nobles sitting in the center, with the absolute best seats of course reserved for the royals and their guests. A half canopy has been established to help keep the shade in the area and protect from any of the elements, a thick leather trim going across the area where the royals are sitting raised up about fifty feet and supported by heavy wooden poles and tethers tying it. The benches have been formed of thick wood in the gallery, with lesser galleries set to the side for commoners, guards, and those who are watching and not immediately involved over in the arena. There are roughly eight rows of seats set up for the commoners stretching off the full length of the viewing gallery, and roughly three rows thick for the nobles to sit upon. Among the rows are those who are bringing beverage and refreshments. To discourage any unsavory elements within the stands, armed guards are stationed every ten feet. This visible reminder lends an air of discipline to the arena grounds.

The arena is dusty, a pit formed in the ground which has been dug down flat with padded dirt roughly two feet down from the main tents, the incline designed to give the crowd a better view. The center of the arena betray tell-tale markings where it is apparent that the rail for jousts could be set, if not set already. The dirt is thick and solid, packed down as firmly and evenly as it can be to ensure good footing. Yet, the dirt remains only within the center, as the pavilions, benches and even the rails seem free of dust…a nearly impossible task made possible. From the opposite ends of the exhibition pavilions are a pair of berths where the combatants would enter from and where judges and guards would otherwise sit, as well as attendants to quickly go and tend to the injured or break apart the combatants should it be necessary. The main pit is larger than the pavilions, being roughly fifty horse lengths wide, enough for all the combatants to have plenty of room to brawl without being so spread out that the main viewing area would risk losing track of them.

The Venderos tournament grounds have been set up for the Free For All, the circular sparring grounds marked off. The knights participating in tonights match are all waiting just outside the circle, ready for the signal to step in and begin the match.

In the Royal box, Prince Lucius sits with all of his children, including Bella, the daughter that is both married out to Michael l'Corren and heavily with child. Also in the box with him is one Duke Symon Gerrell, sitting beside Bella's twin Dora and looking quite pleased with himself (if not still a little green from his arrival through the faegates only the morning before).

The major domo whistles loudly—the signal to begin.

Lydia wants to see how well she will to in the free for all, she moves to enter wearing leathers, and a dagger in one of her shoes. Unless one of her brothers stops her, she will try to climb into the fight

Raimond Giraldi has waited on the sidelines, near his brothers, Duke Darren Haldis (well, his half-brother anyway) and Leander Giraldi. Who all may or may not have been discussing strategy prior to taking the field. As the call to take their positions is given, Raimond receives and gives a clap on the shoulder from each man, and dons his helmet before moving to the prearranged spot, giving his tourney sword a few light swings, not that he hasn't been warming up already.

Duke Darren Haldis favors the mace in this particular contest, ironically not being as skilled with his family's ancestral weapon as he is smaller blunt weapons…though the difference in skill is actually only a small margin. In any case, he gives a grin to both his (half) brothers, and a salute towards the Prince, and prepares for the battle to begin, already relishing the challenge to come.

Settled within the noblity sections of the stands is Emilia, dressed in more normal fashions for her…which means rather more like a Huntress. Of which there are a few near her in the stands. Leaning a little towards Clara, who sits beside her,"Shall be of interesting to of see who does of well in of this. The field is of varied of more this of time, I am of thinking." Her dark eyes surveying the field as that whistle is blown. Though as it so often is, rather hard to say just what is going on behind that stoic mien.

Thaddeus sits getting ready to enter the fray, doing some quick stretches and practice swings to ready himself for the contest. He looks at the numbers gathered and realizes that today might be the day for Rivana, though the presence of the Giraldis and their brother does not give him much hope for the stage after. Regardless, he takes a drink from a waterskin and tries to get into the right mindset.

Devlin joins the other Rivanans in preparing. As he stands near the edge of the arena with the other competitors, the Cassomir knight watches quietly, waiting for the instructions to begin.

Back to Venderous where Elrick won his prized blade, a Sidhe sword, it has already been a whole year but when he returned to the city, he remembers it as if it were yesterday. Things have changed though, like the contestants that are competing this year, a couple of prominent names no longer on the list of competitors. The t'Tremaine is here though, as he must defend his championship even if only in name. Already prepared in chainmail with a blunted blade in hand, Elrick gives his fellow Couviere knights a respectful nod before a salute to the Prince, the host of the Tourney. Then he stares at across the ring, turning serious in his demeanor as he is ready for the grand melee.

Michael l'Corren bounces on his toes, feeling the weight of his maile on him, shaking with each step. That done he dons a simple conical helm and takes up his sword. Just in time it would seem, because no sooner does his hand close around the well-worn pommel of his tourney blade does the call go out to enter the ring. Michael does so with little ceremony, climbing the fence and dropping down on the other side. Once there he looks for a foe, spotting the Duke, he makes a tempting target, but he disregards him with a glance towards Elrick who had a better claim on the man. Instead he sizes up Devlin, intending to give the brother of Rivana's king a try.

Alina watches from the stands, though less interestedly than she might otherwise if her husband had been involved. No, that man is sitting beside her, and she leans over to him as he quietly explains some of the strategy and tactics likely to be used in the upcoming melee. She is dressed well, but completely unable to hide the late days of her pregnancy. She nods at her husband's words, looking at least somewhat interested in what he has to say about it. Tactics can be interesting, after all.

Having finished his preparations, Samuel makes his way out onto the field and moving over to enter the ring as well. "Lovely day for this," he remarks a bit lightly to those nearby, as he starts studying his various opponents rather carefully.

Lucas l'Saigner is in the stands and makes his way to a spot somewhere between his sister Alina and where Emilia and Clara sit. He nods greetings to both parties, fiddling with the golden ring with its purple amethyst adorning his right ring finger.

In the stands, Malcolm is speaking with another man, while looking out to the combatants out there. "It looks like an interesting group of participants out there today," he remarks, looking to the various people in the ring.

Sir Jonathan t'Maren is here, of course, his armor clinking as he approaches the ring, a simple maile coif over his head, blade hanging at his side. He's entirely silent as he turns to survey his competitors, with only the occasional muted nod to one or the other. A few take his attention for a moment longer than most. Michael l'Corren, for one. Darren Haldis, of course. And… yes, there's a certain t'Artan…

Alexandra t'Artan is among the first to approach the field of battle, and she does so with almost bounding enthusiasm. Grinning as she hefts her blade, she lets her eyes wander from knight to knight, sizing up a potential target…

In seeing Lucas settling not to far away, Emilia offers a bow of her head to him in greeting along with one of those corner tugging smiles. There is a bit of a nod towards Malcolm as well when she spies the familiar face. Though there is focus given towards the fighting as the chaos of it begins, people picking their targets. It was always interesting to see who would take up in pairs, which would gang up on single targets. It was always a little tougher near the start to catch everything, and her brother does get much of her focus. And thus there is just a bit of wince to see Devlin take such a hard hit straight off. Though there is a blink to see a few stumbling amongst the chaos early on when her eyes sweep the field briefly taking that focus from where her brother fights, trying to track him through it all.

Is anyone surprised when the t'Tremaine Heir has chosen the Duke of Haldis as his first target? It is almost as if he sees no one else on the field by Darren so when the signal to start is given, Elrick strides across the tourney field and immediately engages his chosen opponent. The first exchange is a set of parries and counter-parries, as if both opponents are testing each other out. One the initial clash is completed, the northern knight steps back as if a bit wary before stepping in boldly again, this time his blunted sword slashes across the chest of Darren, a solid blow while he receives a light slash in return. He continues a relentless attack, closing in and delivers a punishing blow to the Duke's left hand but this opens him up to a vicious blow right back onto his neck which actually drives him to a knee. Elrick's blade quickly comes up to bat the blade away as he rolls back and out of range, but this also draws him into the crowded melee where he finds another southern knight suddenly coming at him, forcing him to engage Raimond.

"Sir Michael! We have to stop meeting like this!" Raimond calls out as he wades in to face his more-or-less "rival" on the Tourney scene, at least if the last few tourneys of last year were any indication. Of course, when Michael's first strike lands solidly on his hand, almost-breaking bone, and Raimond, staggers back, bobbling his weapon before narrowly managing not to lose it to the dirt, he adds, "No really, we do…" And so he quickly moves to select a new target for the time being, that being Sir Elrick who looks to have slightly come out on the bad end of his exchange with Raimond's elder half-brother.

It's a Cassomir who draws Jonathan's attention first, though more by happenstance than by intent, if one is honest. The heir to Bloodfield's eyes narrow as he approaches Devlin, and he dips his head in a little nod to the man, raising his blade in a simple guard. The melee is short and well-fought, Jonathan's blade finding its target one, two, three times, each time just twisting out of the way of the man's counter-strike and letting his armor absorb the impact. A silent nod as he steps back from the Rivanan, and then his eyes search the battlefield… and come to rest on another southerner, with a perhaps somewhat more famous name. Darren Haldis will be the next to face his attack.

Darren is silent save for the grunts and growls of exertion as Elrick moves to face him, soon joined by similar sounds of pain as he exchanges blows with the heir of Hartwood. Though as he steps back from that exchange, he adds, "Not bad!" Right before he turns and lashes out towards a different Northern Knight…in this case Sir Johnathan, who seems to be moving to the attack himself.

Thaddeus joins the fray on command and engages the knight who unhorsed him two tournaments ag, though he tries to avoid lashing out immediately as the melee is still young. A few good hits are exchanged, but it seems neither of the two are heavily injured in the chaos, which soon divides them and has Thaddeus seeing his new target, Michael.

Devlin starts fighting, but fails to find any success with his blade, though his opponent is much more fortunate, so he takes the opportunity to avoid his vicious opponent and find someone else.

Michael had intended to fight Devin Cassomir, but then choices like plans didn't survive first contact with the enemy and he finds himself facing Raimond instead. Faced with his old tourney rival, Michael grins as their swords swing both striking hands but by how Raimond withdraws favouring his hand, it seems he got the better of the exchange. "I don't know. This meeting went well for me!" he calls after the knight as the press of the melee pushes them apart and leaves Michael face to face with Thaddeus Greycen. "Lord Marshall," Michael greets with a nod, before he hammers at the man with sword blows.

By now it may have occurred to Alexandra that she's the only woman on the field, but that doesn't seem to bother her in the slightest. She's grinning as she faces Thaddeus, but her expression as their weapons clash is focused. A couple of hits set her back, but she gives as got as she's got, as it were, and steps back with a little chuckle. "Who's next?"

As the fighting starts, it would seem the first person Samuel sees nearby happens to be Leander. Swinging to hit the man with a few strikes, he is lucky to manage to avoid the incoming attacks, one barely missing him, while he ducks out of the way of the other one. Offering the man a brief grin, he looks around, pausing as he spots Devlin coming for him, offering the man a grin. "Let's see how this goes, shall we?"

After a nod and a smile is offered to Emilia, Malcolm turns to look at the proceedings out there now, a smile on his face as he studies the various people in action.

Lydia is in the stands to cheer her brothers on, all three of them! The youngest and only daughter is waving her house colors on a small flag and clapping with the spectators.

In the stands, young Liam Haldis arrives and settles in between Emilia and Lucas. "Lady Emi, Princess Clara," he greets his old friend, and glances to Lucas curiously. "And my lord…?" He's cheery enough. "What did I miss?" he asks, handing out sticks of cooked chicken to Emilia and Clara's little coterie… and offers a spare one to Lucas as well. "The line for these was long."

Michael and Thad exchange a quick flurry of blows and while it looks well matched throughout a hard strike to the head removes the Rivanan Lord Marshall from Michael's path. "Well fought!" he calls to the man, before finding himself in front of Duke Darren Haldis. Michael grins, and gives the duke a grudging nod before he comes after the man.

Spending time in the dirt has seemed to bolster the younger Giraldi knight. Leander seems to be giving as much as he took, as he engages with Alexandra. A couple good hits and the Couvieri seems to falter. Not waiting to see if she is alright, Leander swivels around, looking for his next target.

Lucas nods to the young man supplying "l'Saigner," he says to Liam. "Lucas l'Saigner, And you are?" he asks.

Emilia bows her head to Liam as he arrives and settles in with them,"Lord of Liam." The chicken on a stick is accepted with a corner tugging smile."Of really? Would have thought most were busy of watching. But Devlin has taken some of serious of hits, not of sure how much logner he will of hold out after that beating by the one of knight. I think I have of seen both of the Giraldi stumble a bit." And perhaps as if fate heard her, Devlin is down after taking a rather rough looking hit to the neck that has Emilia wincing just slightly. "He is going to have quite of a bruise." Able to actually look at the field more now, to catch the sight of a few others seeming to make their exits as well. "Seems the field is of starting to of thin a bit of now." Stating the semi-obvious before taking a bit from the chicken on a stick.

Well, Raimond manages to go out fighting…mostly, but he does go out, eventually being forced back onto his haunches and giving the sign of yielding. He moves off the field, clearly unhappy with his performance, and still slightly favoring that left hand.

Oof. Alexandra's next tussle doesn't go quite as well, as she gets knocked right to the ground by a blow to her head from another Rivanan. The good news is that she's just dazed, not completely out of it, but she'll definitely take her sweet time getting back up. Discretion is the better part of valor, eh? Fortunately she's not the only knight to have been knocked around a bit in this one, and the next one she sets her eyes on has taken a few hits himself. She's still smiling, just a little, as she faces Elrick.

"Forgive me, Lord Lucas. I am Lord Squire Liam Haldis, squire to his Majesty King Jaren." He offers a polite bow of his head before taking a bite of his chicken on a stick. Yum! He gives Emilia a broad grin— but winces as Devlin goes down. "An ill hit, but that is the way of these melees. That's why they don't allow my sort of to participate," he points out.

Devlin is soon removed from teh combat by a well-landed blow. He finds his way off the field safely to be tended to, though he is still in good condition, just not in a position to fight anymore.

Thad fights with Michael for a little while, though the l'Corren heir proves to be a powerful opponent, landing a square blow on Thad's head and almost forcing him from the contest, though he is fortunately saved by the chaos of the melee for a little longer.

Lydia watches one of her brothers get out and she boos slightly a shift of her eyes as she tries to find her other brother in the chaos of the melee, her eyes glued to the event.

Jonathan turned to face Darren in large part because the Duke would prove to be a formidable opponent, and the Rivanan certainly doesn't disappoint. They match one another shot for shot, and again, the t'Maren is quite thankful for his armor. There's a nod as he steps back, his eyes meeting Darren's with respect, and then his gaze sweeps across the battlefield, where he sees… his betrothed staggering, if only for a moment. Is it coincidence that he then moves to engage Leander? Almost certainly so.

With his neck now sore and the muscles protesting due to the blow he received from the Duke of Haldis, Elrick's movements are a bit slow as he faces off with the older of the Giraldi's. The first exchange is tentative just like the first the t'Tremaine have with Darren, a glancing blow on chest that does no damage. Then both knights are rather quick in their next strike but it is Raimond's tourney blade that delivers a nasty blow to his helm, sending his ears ringing as he staggers back but not down. Knowing his opponent will probably not relent, Elrick puts up his guard again, trying to deflect the next blow with only partial success as he gets smacked in the chest, However there was the slightest of openings where the northern knight manages a counter-blow right back at the Giraldi that swings the momentum. With his opponent falling back, Elrick presses, only to see the yield signal which he respects. Looking up, it appears his situation has worsen as two opponents are now advancing on him, surprisingly one is from Couviere. "Looking to take down last year's champion as early as possible, eh? Come then." Bold words for a knight who is already fatigued from pretty solid blows that were dealt to him, eyes watching both that will attempt to take him down.

Tiadora's been watching with casual interest. Combat isn't really her favorite pastime. But to the surprise of no-one who knows her, she pouts when Devlin Cassomir is outed and sighs in teenage dismay.

Sometimes, you will have to take a hit to be able to give an even stronger one. Not moving away as Devlin swings for him, Samuel swings solidly and managing to hit the man in the neck area, just before stumbling backwards from the hit he took to the chest. "Nice one…" he offers, before he looks around for a new target. Spotting Thaddeus, he moves in the man's direction, to swing at him. "Hello there, good sir."

Shaking his head as he sees Raimond go down, Malcolm hands over some coins to the man sitting nearby, before he shrugs a little.

Emilia gives a nod to Liam,"They can be quite of dangereous, even with the blunted of weapons." Having seen more than her fair share, even if just at Ironhold between up and comers. "Quite of a few impressive of fights all of the same." There is a mild glance towards Tiadora when there is that sigh before sending Clara a knowing sort of look. Even if she suggests to Tiadora,"We can go of check upon him once things are of finished, Lady of Tiadora." Her eyes still following the action on the field and as more knights get battered enoguh to yield. "Oh..Sir of Leander is of out now too." Oh the random comment.

taking a step back, then another, Elrick gaze continues to flick from one knight to another, back and forth as they come at him. A quick feint is made at Alexandra but that is not where the t'Tremaine strikes first, instead he turns and slashes his blade at Thaddeus, the Lord Marshal of Rivana and the ploy works. He may take a light blow from both of his opponents but when Elrick strikes the southern knight on the right arm, he effectively puts the man out of the fight. When he tries to turn back to face off with Alexandra, he is too late as he only turns into her tourney sword. Literally right into it as he receives a very punishing blow to the chest, causing him to stumble and fall onto his back. Laying there for a moment with the wind knocked out of him, he rolls to his side coughing a few times before his sword hand comes up empty with a yield sign. For now, he is unable to offer congratulatory words to Alexandra, as he coughs again.

Hit in the leg. Jonathan should never let himself be hit in the leg… or anywhere else, really, but to lose his mobility is entirely unacceptable. He's almost audibly cursing himself as he pivots away from Leander's blow, but he finishes his opponent efficiently enough, with an almost reproachful /smack/ of the tourney sword to his off-hand. By now, he's taken enough hits to be at least staggered a little, but he still stands upright as he takes a step back, surveying the remaining field. Half are gone, now.

Darren Haldis exchanges another flurry of strikes with Michael, and it's pretty clear that he can take as much punishment as he dishes out, as they both land solid strikes upon each other in the exchange. "Well fought, l'Corren." He adds as the swirl of melee pries them apart for the moment. He's clearly not moving as quickly as he was during the initial stages of the fight, but he also seems to be more careful now, paying more attention to his defense as he waits to see which target presents themselves. Before a moments' passed, however, he decides to take matters into his own hands and lunges at Jonathan, well aware he's the only fighter for Rivana left on the field, and determined to go down swinging, since it's unlikely he'll be able to wade through so many opponents before the end.

Thaddeus roars as he is engaged by a knot of northerners, the Rivanan ranks having been thinned a little. Sadly the fight for him is quickly struck down in the mess. Fortunately, he is able to extract himself from the melee safely.

Two against one? It's not exactly /fair/, but this is the free-for-all, isn't it? Poor Elrick almost never knew what hit him as Alexandra's sword slashes across his chest, not an especially powerful blow, but a perfectly delivered one. She grins from ear to ear as the t'Tremaine goes down, and by now, she's caught a second wind. When Samuel approaches, her blade held high, her eyes locked on his.

Swinging and missing, Samuel pauses as he sees Thaddeus being knocked out by Elrick, then Elrick being knocked out by Alexandra. "Well done thre," he remarks to her, as he moves in with a swing now.

Clara giggles softly as she and Emilia exchange glances. With a completely serious tone, she agrees with Emilia, speaking to Tiadora. "Oh, certainly. We can go make sure that Devlin is okay. After all, it is only proper." The tone is serious…but the grin upon her features is anything but.

Oblivious, Liam replies, "Yes, checking on him would be the polite thing to do, after all, he is a friend."

Tiadora goes as bright red as the Gerrell's family crest. "Oh! No! I mean, I'm sure he's fine. He doesn't need a bunch of women fussing over him - or at least non family women." She tries to give Emilia and Clara a casual smile as she looks quickly away.

"I do not of fuss over mine-brother, I show of my concern for his of well of being. Just as he does of mine," Emilia states ever so dead pannedly. Though really…since when to Cassomirs fuss? "And I am of sure he would not of mind to have a few of well of wishers, even if we do not of linger of long, to allow him to of get of some rest." Dark eyes flit back over the remaining knights battling it out yet. It seeming to have slowed up with some rather light hits occuring before..well there goes the last Rivana standing. "It had been of looking like he had a chance of well. Wonder of who will of take it in the end, I know Sir of Michael seems to of often have a strong of showing."

/Ouch./

Alexandra faces Samuel l'Corren next, and within a few seconds, that's about all she's thinking. She gets a decent hit in, sure, but there's not much she can do to touch him this time. That smile drops off her face when he smashes her in the arm, and then she takes his sword right in the neck. She's back on the ground, and this time, she's not getting back up so fast. When she does, it's only to walk away. Not stagger. Walk.

Michael and the Haldis Duke battle to a stand-still each giving and taking blows against their armor and neither man falling. Seeing Jonathan coming, Michael shifts to let the man into the fight and then carries on hacking at the man, working in tandem with the future baron of Bloodfield to bring the Duke down. When the duke falls, Michael smiles, brusied and breathless though he is. He looks to Jonathan, cocking his head. "Shall we?" he asks. The l'Corren heir, assuming the challenge will be taken up calls to Samuel. "Sam, take a breather, one of us will be with you in a moment."

Jonathan t'Maren, as a rule, isn't the sort to double-team an opponent, but Darren rather forced the issue, didn't he? He's cautious as the Haldis approaches, though not cautious enough to avoid taking a somewhat difficult blow… and not cautious enough to hold back the strike to the chest that finally brings the Rivanan down. A moment later, he stands upright, facing Michael l'Corren head-on. "We shall," he says in a low whisper, though his attention is diverted by something he sees over the White Knight's shoulder. Only for a moment, however, and then his blade comes back up in a simple guard. His chest heaves and his shoulders roll as he prepares to face the northerner.

Taking one hit, but managing to deliver those two good ones to Alexandra, Samuel looks about to say something as she goes down. Michael's words makes him pause a bit. "A breather, hmmm?" Nodding a bit as he hears that, he keeps his sword ready, but lets the other two hit each other right now. "Well fought," he offers to Alexandra as she leaves the field, most of his gaze still on Michael and Jonathan.

Beset by two skilled combatants, not even the Bastard Duke can stay up and fighting for long. Finally he's knocked to the ground by the pair, and waves off, accepting he's not going to win this one. Being the last Rivanan standing is something of a cold comfort, but ah well. Perhaps they really will have to work on strategy next time.

"As a member of royalty, it is my solemn duty to check on the health and morale of our knights. I would be shirking my duty if I did not inquire after Devlin." Clara is barely able to keep a straight face as the princess completely fabricates a reason to visit the male Cassomir….a reason that conveniently can have a certain Gerrell accompany her. It is so obviously a tease that Liam may even see it at such.

Maybe.

Lydia cheers a bit for the Duke, as he finally falls even "good show" she calls out to her half-brother.

Jonathan's struggle with Michael is hard-fought, the heir to Bloodfield trading blows with the heir to Murnord. A single, well-struck blow at the beginning of the melee seems enough to lay his opponent low, but it seems he's made of strong stuff, and he comes back with enough ferocity that Jonathan, too, is staggered for amoment. When he comes back, though, it's with roaring fury… minus the actual roar. He's silent as he strikes the blow to the chest that finally leave the l'Corren out of the battle. And he remains silent as he turns to face Samuel, pulling himself upright, standing tall, despite his injuries, as he raises his weapon in a muted salute.

After chewing a bit more chicken from the stick, Emilia nods solmenly to Clara,"Of exactly." Though there is a blink as Michael is the next to go out. Perhaps Emilia should not name 'favorites' they don't seem to do well.

Michael brings the attack to Jonathan, striking hard and fast, but comes out the loser, knocked to a knee. Burdened with only light armor he rises swiftly, and continues the fight pressing Jonathan relentlessly. Though in the end the t'Maren has the better of him, and after having the wind knocked from his chest and the sword out of his hand, he raises his other hand in salute and moves to the edge of the field to watch the final bout.

Having watched the two go at it, Samuel winces as he sees the hits. Offering a brief grin to his cousin, he then turns to face Jonathan, raising his own weapon in a salute to mirror his opponent's. "May the best man win, Sir." And then, the attack.

Perhaps it wasn't quite Jonathan's day. He's strong enough to give a good showing in the final melee with Samuel, at least, but weakened as he is from his struggles with the Bastard and the White Knight and others, he's not strong enough to carry it through. A blow to his right arm strikes with such force that his sword clatters to the ground, and he doesn't move to pick it up, instead dipping his head in a little nod. "Well fought, Sir Samuel." His lips are pressed together in a grimace as he turns to leave the field. At least there's no shame in losing to a l'Corren.

And as he climbs out of the arena, leaving the victor alone, a close observer might hear the t'Maren knight mutter, "For honor, not glory."

And the attacks come. Some bounce harmlessly off the armor, some hit more solidly, Giving some and taking some, Samuel stumbles back a bit from a good hit to his arm, muttering momentarily as he moves forward again, swinging to return that particular favor to Jonathan. As he sees the man lose his sword, he offers the man a nod in return. "You as well, Sir Jonathan. Well fought today." As he is the last person remaining in the ring, he lets out a breath, as he turns to look towards the stands.

Tiadora sighs as the two ladies twist her arm. Not literally of course but social pressure is pressure. As Samuel wins, she offers polite applause. "One of these days we'll have a victor," she says with a bit of a sulky attitude.

Michael grins as Sameul carries the day, though he applauds for both men as they leave the field. He moves to join his cousin and clap him on the shoulder. "Well done," he says. "Though I wanted to be the one to fight you."

Emilia does clap when there is one knight left standing, not particularly familiar with him as it were. But all of them fought well, some just weren't all to lucky in the end, and thus all deserve a round of that stoic one's claps. Noting to Tiadora,"Until of then…we will just have to give them of artists." They did seem to fair better in the artistic competition, and well archery too. As others start to clear out, Emilia looks to the small group she is with,"Shall we go of check and see how of Delvin is of getting of on before of seeing to the rest of the evening?" Already moving to get up and move with many of the others departing the stands. Though she does linger a little to see who is coming with to check briefly upon her brother.

Tiadora glances up at the box. "I should, um… Check with Symon?" She lamely tries to use her brother as an excuse to get out of the checking. "I mean, Devlin's surely -fine-, and uh, he barely knows me." She stands, though, and ruffles her dark blue gown in place to smooth wrinkles.

"Thanks," Samuel replies to Michael, offering him a grin. "That would have been a quite interesting finish, wouldn't it?" Glancing around again, before he adds, "You fought well as well, Michael."

Ever the proper one, Liam frowns. "I do not believe you would be welcome up in the Royal box, Lady Tiadora, as you have not recieved an inviatation. ANd Prince Lucius is very strict on security."

"I am of sure that Duke of Symon would of step of out to speak with of his sister, if of needed, Lord of Liam," notes Emilia to the ever proper one. "Perhaps we will be of seeing you of later then, Lady of Tiadora." Certianly not about to strong arm her friend into going along, even if some mild teasing is fair game!

Michael nods. "Thank you, but you and Jonathan fought better," he says with a shake of his head. Then, he says, "Well I am going to change, but we should get a drink soon and celebrate your victory."

"Well then, Tia…it is a perfect time for him to get to know you more!" Clara rises to her feet, that serious tone cracking with giddiness. But…it is Liam that causes Clara to break down in laughter, not Tia. Yet…she continues to talk to Tia. "Why…I wouldn't worry about seeing Symon. He is perfectly fine up there. Come on, Tia…it will be alright. Just trust me." Always a trap…hearing those three words from Clara. Just ask Emilia.

Amelia cheers with the rest of the crowd as the winner is announced. She smiles brightly and slowly works herself around the passing crowds. The spectators are so thick she is lost amongst them - her steps bring her closer to the field as she shakes some of the knights hands to congratulate them all on a job well done.

Tiadora?s not been on the receiving end of the princess's schemes often enough to get the red flag warning. And Liam's words make her shuffle her feet uncomfortably. "I w-wouldn't want to do anything to break protocol. I-I don't want to make him look bad." She quickly adjusts the veil over her dark hair as if straightening it out. "A-as long as the guards know where I am I should be fine."

"A drink sounds like an excellent idea," Samuel replies to Michael, before he offers another smile. "And getting out of the armor sounds like an excellent idea," he replies.

Emilia's dark eyes go to Clara when the princess breaks down in laughter. And to hear those red flag words, Emilia just shakes her head a little bit and perhaps helps in solving the whole matter by continuing to make her exit and seek to check upon Devlin's well being upon her own as the others dither in the stands. And with such a crowd…well it is rather easy for the Cassomir become 'lost' within it rather quickly.

Clara relents, for just a moment, though she never loses her sunny disposition. "You don't have to go if you don't want to, Tia. I can tell you're awfully nervous about the whole idea and I certainly don't want to force your hand." It is a sincere reply…one that Clara truly seems to mean. "You can hang back, if you like." But then, Clara tips a wink. "I will just have to ensure that Devlin and you converse at the ball." With that, she turns, just in time to catch Emilia disappearing into the crowd. "But, if we are going, we better go now…or else we will lose Emilia."

Ball? Yes, she likely will go to the ball. And Tiadora will likely stand by a wall and try to avoid talking. But if it's a toss up between talking to him now or then, Tia takes the safer option. "No! We should… Yes. I'm coming." She stays at Clara's side as they start moving off to find where Emi went.

Amelia slowly but surely inches her way closer to Samuel and she grins brightly. "What a show, great job!" she tells him, though the teen knows her manners and she wont stay too long to impose herself on him. She shakes his hand as she did others and smiles gently before she is lost in the crowd herself.

"Thank you, my lady," Samuel replies to Amelia, shaking her hand with a smile. "I was lucky to avoid taking any bad hits for most of it, though." As she disappears into the crowd, he smiles, looking around again before he makes his way off the field now.
