Town Center - Hart's Home - Couviere

There are two towns of Hart's Home. The New Town which sprawls beyond the walls of the old a place of livestock pens, lumber yards and tanneries. The new town burned when the Rivanans came and so few buildings here are older than a pair of decades. However a new wooden palisade now surrounds the town and gives it a layer of protection from future attacks.

The Old Town is ringed by an old stone wall thick with moss and vines but still sturdy for all its years. The streets of the town are cobbled and the buildings line the roads with steep pointed roofs which keep off the worst of the snow. The town center is visible throughout the town due to the tall spire of the town church and the square itself bustles by day with traders making use of the marketplace or visiting the prosperous shops that line the square. The town center is also home to a fountain left over from the grander days of house t'Tremaine, featuring three rearing stags each spouting water from their open mouths.

By night the town center is quieter save for the light and merriment coming from the White Hart Tavern.

The makeshift jousting field being used for this Tourney is, appropriately enough, usually a training field used for said purposes, but it's been nicely rearranged and gussied-up for the Tournament to the point that you'd hardly know if you weren't from here. For Hart's home, the crowd is HUGE. Indeed, they have more people watching than they had seating for, by a wide margin, and they even had to shoo some people off the bleachers that had been arranged when they started groaning and creaking a little too ominously under the strain. Of course, the noble stands don't have that problem, and they're all looking relatively comfortable in the cool spring air of Hartswood. With the Baron Benjamin taking part, it falls to the Baroness to indicate when it is time for things to get underway, and the still-beautiful woman conducts herself with poise that would not be amiss in the royal courts of Rovilon, oh-so-elegantly nodding to the announcer below to begin, before turning back to her daughter, seated next to her, and continuing whatever likely-frivolous conversation they were having.

The fellow does actually stumble over a few of his lines as he tries to warm up the crowd…he's not a professional at this, but he makes it through without any serious problems, announcing the beginning of the Joust, and the pairs that will be competing in the first round. And once that's out of the way, the competitors may line up in their places and prepare to get started! The tourney is still very much anyone's victory to claim.

Antonia l'Valdan wears her dark plate armor today, with the helmet in true falcon design, the visor open for now, as she glances about the tourney field. She is already mounted, sitting atop her white courser with the name Othello, her grey eyes gleaming with excitement - because, to be competing here in the barony where she was born and grew up in, it means a lot to Antonia whose knighting happened little less than five months ago. There is pride in the way she carries herself, the posture, the smile, when she glances towards her mother first, Baroness Annaliese t'Tremaine, and offers her a nod from afar; then there is a look towards her father, Baron Benjamin, and her brother, Sir Elrick. The smile remains, but gains a little in concerned warmth, when Antonia's gaze finds her little sister Amara in the box of honor. No glance is spared the Rivanan knight carrying Amara's favor; but instead the l'Valdan looks where her husband sits, Prince Silvio, the brother to the King of Couviere. Her gloved hand touches her arm, where the chain with the pendant he gave her is wound about, entwined with a shawl in the colors of blue and silver.

When the first pairings are called out by the herald, Antonia accepts the lance and the shield from her squire. Othello is nudged into a trot, and once she has reached her end of the list, the l'Valdan princess knight will dip her lance in salute to her opponent, Sir Joffrey t'Synclarre. "An honor to ride against you, Sir.", Antonia calls, her lips twitching into a faint smile fo determination, before this smile vanishes beneath the visor as it is being lowered. Holding the lance in a tight grip, taking aim of Joffrey, Antonia urges Othello on to a gallop, every fibre in her body tensing before the inevitable clash in the middle of the list.

As the announcements are made, Elrick nudges his charger to the lane that is assigned to him, his helm resting on the pommel of his saddle for now. He properly waves to all those watching in the stands, most of them his people. Despite the slight verbal stumbles made by the announcer, things are well underway in good fashion, the t'Tremaine Heir looking rather proud at his his mother composes herself. Eyes search the lanes to find Nadine who is preparing herself for her own opponent, a confident nod offered to her before his gaze locks onto the Lord Marshal of Rivana. The helm is slipped on and his squire quickly offers his knight the first tourney lance. A salute is actually offered to Thaddeus and Elrick is ready for the first tilt.

Evelyn l'Faust is readied, and when her opponent is announced she knows she is in for a hard series of tilts. As she approaches her position, she looks across the field to Michael, and she nods her head to him with a solemn severity to her, then, just as she closes her helm, she gives the l'Corren a bright grin and a quick shake of her head as if to suggest he is not going to get the best of her, today. She readies her steed for the first tilt, almost seeming eager.

Amara does not quite have the same poise as her mother, but it is not for a lack of trying. Brigth greens eyes are dancing over the huge crowds that have turned out and come to her come. It was all so very exciting! The young woman is all smiles, trying to temper them once in awhile. But she has a hard time keeping her excitement in check. Amara nods to her mother as they go back to their conversation, which no doubt also includes something to do with the dreamy knight who carries her favor. Especially when he is paired against her father in that first match. Amara does offer a bright smile to Antonia and Elrick as well as her father. And no doubt to their dismay, to Leander too.

Nadine t'Cadri takes her lance and prepares to tilt. Granted, this is not exactly her best event— she's more accustomed to real battle than these sorts of spars, but she closes her helm's visor, hiding a grin. This is definitely something she's doing more for fun (and to show her potential future goodfather her skill at arms) than for anything serious. Though with her win the previous day and being ahead on points, she is in a good standing for this upcoming bouts…

In his half-plate, Samuel is seated on Miramis, his horse. Listening carefully to the announcement of the pairs, before he glances towards the stands again, as if looking for someone there. That done, he turns to get into position, offering a grin in Gabriel's direction. "Don't hate me for sending you flying, okay?" he offers lightly, knowing fully well that he could just as easily be the one flying out of the saddle. Waiting for a few moments, before he puts his helm on, getting a lance and getting ready to face Gabriel on the field.

Cesare l'Corren moves to his starting block to a great many cheers and a lot of pointing, offering a salute and a bright smile to his Queen and daughter, Louisa l'Valdan (who certainly attracts near as many cheers and twice as many pointings). "Don't think I'm going to go easy on you just because you're my Queen!" The Duke of Murnord bellows as he takes up his lance.

"I wouldn't dream of it." Louisa says nonchalantly, "Any more than I would dare imagine you helped arrange the matches." She salutes her father in kind, grinning with mirthful humor before she lowers her visor and takes up her own lance, "Surely my most honorable father would never do such a thing." She deadpans as she prepares to urge her steed into motion.

"Surely not." Cesare replies with equal mirth, and then also readies himself.

The sight of the massive crowd brings a smile to Michael's face. He was no stranger to these smaller tourneys and the turn out here was fantastic. So, however he ended up doing in the lists he had some small measure of victory to take with him today. He still smiles when the first pairs are named, Evelyn l'Faust. A worthy foe. Armed with his prayers said, he makes his way to the lists to make his salute to his aunt who is presiding over the tourney and then to Evelyn. "Loser buys the ale tonight?" he offers cheerfully across the field.

When the joust is called, he's dropped his visor and charges towards Evelyn, his lance lowering to aim for her chest.

"Well met, Sir Antonia." Joffrey t'Synclarre salutes his opponent sharply, adding a bit of a sitting bow at the end in deference to Antonia's station. "The One grant us a safe and appropriately entertaining match. I hope you'll find me a worthy challenge." And with that, he finishes his preparations, and prepares for the charge.

It is a huge crowd…and one that is none too friendly to the 'foreigners' taking part. Especially the audacious young knight that still sports the favor gifted by the young woman seated besides the Baroness. Leander Giraldi does prepare himself, taking to his black charger with helm up and lance in hand. As he approaches the line, the sight as to exactly who he is facing causes a slight paling…but then the eyes flicker upwards to the box of honor and to the smiling Amara…and somehow Leander gains just a little more confidence. Enough to bring him to his usual charming self. He does offer a salute to the Baron across the way…then closes the helm. As ready as he will ever be.

Not the biggest fan of tourneys Lucas l'Saigner has made an appearance today. The young son of Duke James l'Saigner sits with those others of high birth as he sits back and watches Evelyn joust. He had given her his favor after all.

Gabriel is in his normal full plate and as it was yesterday there is a black and purple lace garter hidden under his armor, a favor from his wife meant to bring luck to his lance this day. He hoped that it would as there was good competition to be had at this tournament. Positioning across from his cousin, Gabriel gives Samuel a salute and then slams his visor down and readies himself for his charge.

Prince Martyn Tracano thankfully seems none the worse for wear after the bashing he took in the Free For all. Or at least he's managing to sit tall in the saddle as he prepares for his own joust, lifting visor and hand in salute and speaking, "Well met Sir. I have heard tales of your valor and skill, and have no doubt you will be a challenge. I will do all I can to provide the same in kind." And then he too takes up lance and shield, and when the time comes, spurs his mount forward to test himself against the Snowshield.

Thaddeus sits in the saddle awaiting his first tilt with Sir Elrick, his wife's favor, a garter, around his right arm. He gives the t'Tremaine knight a salute before readying himself to charge at the signal.

Gabriel kicks his mount into motion and he charges down on his cousin, lance aimed perfectly. He lands a solid hit on his first pass and then the process is repeated for a second pass. Another solid hit on his cousin and he watches with some satisfaction as Samuel is unhorsed. A good beginning to the contest that was for sure, though it wasn't something he could take for granted. His older sister was next.

It appears that the Lord Marshal of Rivana is Elrick's bane this tournament, not only did he knock the t'Tremaine out of the grand melee but he just managed a light hit to edge the heir out by points as well. Resisting the urge to toss his tourney lance at the ground, the norther knight wheels his steed around when he reaches the end of the tilt, offering Thaddeus a respectful nod. The weapon is handed off to his squire and helm pulled off. Only when the next announcement is made does Elrick search out his sister, his charger trotting to the assigned lane. A salute is offered to Princess Antonia, knowing that the last time they jousted, it was rather bruising for both jousters.

First tilt, first pass: Antonia and Joffrey both manage to evade the lances, so neither of them scores a point. And it seems Antonia's lance does not really aim true, in both the next two passes. Whereas the t'Synclarre manages to score hits both times with his lance, in the third pass even with enough momentum to drive Antonia out of the saddle! A low curse leaves the l'Valdan's lips when she feels herself already flying in that brief span of time that precedes the rather painful landing, and the loud clattering of armor. Her squire is already there, helping her to her feet, and so Antonia offers Joffrey a slightly pained smile beneath her visor she has just opened. "Well ridden, Sir. A well deserved win of the tilt." Said, before she mounts Othello again and rides to the side, waiting for the next pairings to be called, while she watches the still ongoing tilt between her brother and Thaddeus Greycen, a slightly disappointed sigh leaving her when she sees the Rivanan scores a point. Her brows lift then in surprise when she is to face Elrick in her second tilt. "Good luck, brother!", Antonia calls with a smile, before lowering the visor and the lance as well. As if Elrick needed luck… He is the far more experienced tourney knight, and the lance clearly is not really Antonia's favorite weapon.

Amara quite literally sits on the edge of her seat as the knights get into position for their first matches. Oh the quandry she is in, to cheer for her father or /her/ knight! She clenches her hands in her lap as her eyes dart between their tilts and those of her brother and sister. A quick murmur to her mother at times when the knights are resetting between the tilts. When that last lance breaks so soundly upon Leander, the touch of her mother's hand upon her arm is all that keeps Amara in her seat. There is worry upon her face, worry that deepens to see her sister unhorsed! Relaxing only a little when she see's Antonia get up and that she appears to be ok. Her hands gesturing as she talks to her mother with the next matches being announced, that is until she remembers herself and folds them back to her lap.

Nadine does not fare so well against the southern prince, but she does not seem to mind. She salutes him as they finish their last tilt, then changes lances to ride to her next one, against Lord Thaddeus Greycen.

Michael's tilt with Evelyn passes with him the winner by a point. He salutes her with his lance and says, "Find you for some drinks and dice after?" Then, whatever the answer he rides on to his next foe, his father. Having taken up a new lance he rides forth grinning broadly as he faces him across the lists. "This should be fun. I was hoping we'd meet."

As the horses start their approach, Leander levels his lance towards the Baron and, at the last second, pulls it away. Not drastically…but just enough to miss the charging Benjamin…leaving Leander open to take a solid hit to the stomach. Maybe it was nerves that cause the deviation…or maybe, just maybe, it was an offering to Benjamin. Needless to say, it causes the crowd to erupt as the hit is scored. The next two passes are better, for Benjamin as he scores hit after hit on Leander…even breaking his lance upon Leander's already sore chest from the other night. And..yet Leander keeps his seat. As he rides by, Leander offers another salute. "Well ridden, Your Lordship. Good luck with the rest of the evening." Simple…polite…and none of the usual bravado Leander usually uses. With that, he nods and shifts to return to the line, offering a bright smile and a salute to his Prince. "Well met, Your Highness! May the One favor us both!"

Thaddeus is pleased with his success thus far, though it was not the most exciting bout. He returns Elrick's nod and grins under his helm and takes his place opposite Nadine, ready for the next round.

Evelyn charges as the signal comes, but her eagerness does not land her a blow against Michael, though she is able to lessen the power of his own charges, she unable to land her own in the first two tilts. As the third comes, she has registered Michael's style with her own study, and she's able to lean back just far enough to avoid his hit, while landing one of her own. It does not, however, bring her victory - the l'Corren Knight is still ahead of her on points, thus far. "An ale, tonight, it is then," she cheerfully calls to Michael. She leads her horse to the next set of tilts, where she will face no less a harsh opponent - Sir Joffrey. "Ready yourself, Sir!" she calls to him, not having yet lost her mood. She did well enough in the first tilts, and she feels she is getting her lost momentum from the prior Tourney back.

Cesare manages to score but one point against his daughter and Queen, but it's one point more than she manages to score against him. Perhaps the Silver Bull's still got it. Either way, the crowd loves it, though it's such a cacophany and there's so much going on that it's hard to tell who's cheering for who and when. "Well jousted, Sir Louisa." Cesare notes as they pass, smiling warmly.

"Not quite as well as you." Louisa replies tartly, but there's no real heat behind it. "I suppose next time I won't go easy on you in your dotage." She teases, eliciting a bark of a laugh from her father before she moves on to face her brother, Sir Gabriel. "Our father us up to his usual brand of mischief, dear brother. I may make it a royal decree that he should be properly chastized for it." She notes, "But first I'll need to put you in the dirt." A brief glimmer of an impish smile crosses her face, and a challenging gleam reaches her blue eyes.

First attempt, at least he's still in the saddle. The second attempt… well, Samuel gets that flying out of his his saddle, landing on the ground rather hard. "Ouch…" Getting to his feet again, he nods to Gabriel. "Good luck, cousin," he offers. Climbing back into the saddle, he offers a nod to Baron d'Tremaine, while preparing for another round here.

Cesare grins at his eldest son as he takes up his starting position, "Well, it should indeed be fun. For me when I remind you why I'm still in charge!" Cesare's having entirely too much fun with this, and he can't keep the broad grin from his features as he prepares to teast himself against his heir. Or for his heir to test himself against him, as the case may be.

Joffrey t'Synclarre returns Antonia's salute, smiling graciously, "Well ridden, Sir Antonia. On another day you'd have no doubt had me." And with that, he moves to array himself against Sir Evelyn l'Faust, grinning as he now salutes her, "We meet again, Sir Evelyn. I've no doubt you've been training hard." He adds, "Let's see if I'm still a challenge for you." He lowers his visor, takes up lance and shield, and laughs behind his helm as he moves in to meet Evelyn's charge.

"Sir Leander." Martyn salutes Leander crisply, "You fought well yesterday, and you show fortitude. Let's see if you can keep it up." There's not exactly derision in Martyn's tone. It isn't warm, just sort of matter-of-fact. In either case, he's soon readied himself, and leans forward as the charge begins.

Three tilt and Michael and his father are tied at one a piece. The final round however sees the Duke of Murnord best his son with another touch of his lance. Michael's groan is audible as they pass in the lists, though when they return to pass again on the way to their respective pavilions Michael bows with exaggerated solemnity, "I bow to my lord father," he offers before a smile spreads across his lips. "I suspect I will be hearing about this for some time, yes?"

Lucas' appreciation of the days events rises sharply when he finds Evelyn and Joffrey engaged in a long duel to decide their tilt. Neither seems to gain the upper hand until, CRACK, Evelyn breaks a lance on Joffrey's helm. The Unbroken lives up to his name and keeps his seat but Lucas is on his feet applauding all the same. "Well struck!" he calls.

Gabriel isn't able to unhorse his sister, but he gives pretty much as good as he gets. "Well done, you have bested me this day." As if the outcome could be different on any other day. Laughing, he prepares for his next opponent… who turns out to be his father. Well, this should be good. He just needed to not let his father unhorse him. That was going to be the goal here.

The passes that the Giraldi has with the Tracano prince go much better for Leander than the first round. He shows a bit of his prowess as he deftly dodges the first lance from Martyn, scoring his own hit in the process. The second is an even harder hit, while Martyn's own skitters off of Leander's plate, finding no purchase. And…while the third pass does see Martyn strike a sound blow to Leander's chest, Leander's own lance breaks upon Martyn's own. The two ride up to one another, Martyn with a slight smile and Leander with a larger one.

Martyn chuckles softly, murmuring softly to Leander. "You were holding back on that first pass with the Baron, weren't you?" The smile on Leander's lips widens slightly, a sure sign of admission for Martyn, if not for anyone else. That causes Martyn to laugh. "Smart, perhaps. May the One be with you." Leander returns with "And with you, Your Highness." Then it is off to the next round….with Leander facing the Lord Marshal of Rivana himself. Another salute…another smile (though more reserved) and a call out. "Let's give this crowd a real show!"

Antonia is not having the best day, it seems. Her own lance skitters across the surface of Elrick's armor, while he manages to deal her left arm, that holds the shield a rather well-placed blow, that breaks his lance. The second pass does not bring any points to either of them, but then, in the third pass, Antonia finally manages at least a hit against her brother's chest. She draws a deep breath as she opens the visor, one hand reigning Othello in, while the other still holds onto her lance. "Your win, brother.", his older sister murmurs towards Elrick with a smile. And by the One, is she relieved that she has managed to remain in the saddle this time! There is an ominous glance she gives Elrick then, when the herald announces the next pairing. "Wish me luck." A slight wink there? When Antonia rides to meet Sir Nadine t'Cadri in the list, the knight against whom she placed second in the free-for-all.

A low chuckle escapes Michael's lips to find he is set to face Joffrey. "Do we need a healer to see to you first? That last blow must have hurt!" he calls as he readies his lance after saluting the Baroness and his foe. Though knowing the Unbroken, Michael is ready for the charge, after all if both sieges of Valetta didn't stop Sir Joffrey what could a lance hope to do?

Evelyn returns Joffrey's laugh with a, "You shall see!" Her voice loud enough to be heard of the din of the crowd, and happy at that. And, the two tilt against each other, the more experienced Knight scoring the first hit, but Evelyn is able to counter at the last. And the two ride. And tilt. And tilt. And ride. Each of them unable to score against the other, until the last Evelyn manages to shatter her lance upon Joffery. She calls to her friend, "Perhaps you can buy me an ale, and join Sir Michael and I at dice, afterwards," to the man after she makes sure he is well, and uninjured. "You are a hard man to joust against, Sir Joffery." She salutes him, then. As she is told she is riding - once again - against Elrick, she moves her steed to the starting position, and tells the Knight, "I've a debt to settle with you, in the joust, Sir. Ride well." There is friendly jest in her tone, but the woman is completely serious.

Well, at least this time, he didn't get sent flying. But it's probably very close, as Samuel takes some rather solid hits, while not managing to deliver anything that well. "Not my day…" he mutters to himself. Saluting the host, he offers a brief grin again, moving to get ready for the next tilt now. Facing Martyn, he offers the man a grin, and a salute, as he gets ready to face the man.

Amara least only has three matches to keep up with this time, instead of four. Though there is no doubt those bright green eyes are focused more often to the match between Leander and Martyn. Her smile brightening with each point that Leander manages to make within his tilts! Certainly one of the few amongst the 'home' crowd that is cheering for the young Rivianian knight. The match between her brother and sister leaving her in another quandry on whom to root for, ending up giving cheers for both, as well as looks of worry and fretting when a lance makes contact with either.

"Until I'm old and grey, my b- Wait. No, until you're old and grey!" Cesare replies to Michael with a laugh, clapping him on the shoulder as they pass, "But well jousted, nonetheless." And with that he moves on to Michael's twin, still smiling brightly as he reaches his starting point and saluting, "Well met, my son. Let's see if you'll be the one to break my streak here today, shall we?" Cesare lowers his visor, still having a ball, and prepares himself for the charge.

Joffrey t'Synclarre's match against Evelyn is almost anticlimactic…a couple of light hits and a lot of misses more due to defensive skill than offensive lack. And then apparently Evelyn gets made and absolutely SHATTERS a lance against Joffrey's helm, the kind of blow that almost always results in an unhorsing…and yet Joffrey manages to remain in the saddle, though it's clearly a bit of a struggle for a moment or two there. "Ha! Well struck, Sir Evelyn. Good luck moving forward." And with that Joffrey moves to face Michael, taking off his helm and re-affixing it, with a laugh as Michael speaks. "I'll be hearing those bells ring for a few hours, I think. But I suppose I don't need to be able to hear too well to joust." He smiles and salutes, then lowers his visor and prepares for the next round. Hopefully that last hit didn't daze him too badly.

Though the first pass was fully in his favor, Elrick was not able to find the same accuracy in the following two passes with his sister, making it for not that great of a showing. It was still his victory but he had hoped for a flashier outcome. Bowing his head to Antonia, he replies with, "Next time, sister. Good luck against your next opponent, knock them flat." He says after pulling off his helm. Then he nudges his charger into a gentle trot again, heading to the tilt against Lady Knight Evelyn, bowing his head to her as well, "Sir Evelyn." When she speaks of a debt she wishes to pay up, with her tourne lance, the t'Tremaine can't help but laugh in good humor, nodding his head, "I shall be on my guard, Sir, but do not forget yours." Then his helm is slipped over his head again, tourney lance handed to him.

Martyn Tracano comes out on the losing end of his exchange with young Leander Giraldi, and there's an expression on his face that isn't happy when they pass…but might be carrying a touch of respect, "Well jousted, Sir. You Giraldis do seem to be full of surprises." The teeth-baring is probably an attempt at a smile, and while it isn't warm, it at least manages not to look like a sneer. "Good luck to you in the remainder of the lists." And then Martyn is off to face Samuel l'Corren, giving him the same sharp salute he's given his other opponents. "Well met, Sir. Let us joust well, and may the best knight win!" And then he quickly arranges sword, shield, and helm, and prepares to begin the next round.

There was just so much excitement it was hard for Amara to keep herself contained! She had seen her brother and sister before in tournaments, but it still had not lost it's excitement. But this was the first time to truly get to see her dad show just why he was Baron. And the first time there was a knight wearing /her/ favor. A knight who continues to score more points and…she blinks as Leander sends Thaddeus from his horse!! She does manage to wait to ensure that the unhorsed man is alright before she cheers for Leander. Though not to be outdone, her father sends the Queen from her horse. Amara does give her mother a look to make sure it is ok to actually cheer when the Queen get unhorsed. But with a nod from her mother, Amara is giving some rather energetic cheering for her father.

It seems the more dramatic bouts are for other knights, Michael once again sees the match decided by points rather than unhorsings. He does win, though only by a single point. "Good to see I've not made your headache worse," he offers with a grin to his good-brother. "Well fought. Luck in the final round!"

Then it's on from his good-brother to his cousin and co-conspirator when it came to setting up this tourney, Elrick. Michael laughs. "Let's do our best to make this tilt a good show?" he asks once the salutes are done.

For Evelyn, Elrick's words ring true; wether or not she was too over eager, or the t'Tremaine's lance is superbly and neatly placed in just the perfect position, the l'Faust knight is unhorsed, falling to the ground as her steed continues one without her for a few paces. Luckily, her visor is on so that no one can see surprise on her face. She sits there a few moments, before moving to retrieve her steed, telling Elrick after finding her voice, "It would appear you are owed an ale, Sir Elrick. You're welcome to join Michael and I. And perhaps I will get my revenge another way; in the dice." An invitation, and she exhales, displeased with herself but she can't argue that Elrick, again, had the better skill for that round. "Well ridden, indeed." She saultes the man, climbs back on her horse and rides to face Nadine. "Congratulations, again, on your win at the free-for-all, Sir. I look forward to this tilt." She nods to the woman, respectful, but determined to save some face after her most recent unseating.

Seems like Antonia is on her guard now, in her third tilt against Nadine t'Cadri! While she manages to duck away beneath Nadine's lance or have it merely graze over the surfice of her half plate armor, Antonia's own lance hits home, scoring two hits in the first and third pass. It is an outcome that surprises the l'Valdan, obviously, which becomes apparent from the expression on her face, once it is revealed when she raises the visor. "Well ridden, Sir Nadine." An incline of Antonia's head there. It seems she decided the third tilt in her favor, by points. "And… ride well in your next tilt." Her smile deepening there, ever-so-slightly. Acknowledging the prowess of the t'Cadri as maybe another circumstance as well - albeit subtly!

After riding over towards the side, Antonia observes the final passes between her father and Queen Louisa, her gaze glued to the spectacle. When Benjamin decides the tilt by unhorsing the proud Queen, Antonia offers a polite applause. But then. It's that favor wearing Rivanan knight again. Antonia gives Leander Giraldi a steely glance from afar as she assesses him, dipping her lance in a rather hinted way of salute. Rivanan nobility. And upjumped at that. How could he dare…? Grey eyes note the favor he wears, and then the l'Valdan gets ready for the last tilt today, determined to make this her best showing in the jousts of the Tourney of Love and Beauty.

As he suspected, his father got the better of him, but Gabriel was able to land a hit on Cesare and take a solid blow and stay on his horse. He will have to remain satisfied with it… and now here comes another tough opponent. Benjamin t'Tremaine. Elrick's father. The man was no slouch in a joust. Once more Gabriel hoped that he could remain in the saddle by the end of things.

Evelyn is not the only one surprised because after the second pass, when Elrick wheels his charger around, he was prepared to go for the last tilt, only to see his opponent off of her horse. There is a bit of concern if the young lady knight is hurt but when she manages to return to her feet, the t'Tremaine bows his head to his opponent after raising his visor. "Thank you, Sir Evelyn, and I believe I will join you and my cousin. Do not be surprised if the dice finds favor in me as well." He says with an amused grin before looking towards his next match, against the aforementioned cousin, Michael. "Of course, cousin, winning is one thing, but one must always make sure to make a good showing at these tourneys." That is certainly one of the main purposes of these events, not just a testing of each other's skills.

At least this time Samuel manages to not get hit as much. But then again, he ends up not hitting either. "Well done," he offers to Martyn, with a nod. Making his way over to face the next opponent, which happens to be Thaddeus. "We seem to end up facing each other in every tourney, don't we?" he remarks, offering the man a grin before he adds, "Good luck, Sir." And putting on his helm and getting ready once more.

The two Rivanans, Leander and Thaddeus, do seem to give a show….though it does seem to be more of a show of defensive skill than offensive might. The two trade hits, first the Greycen, then the Giraldi…then both together. One more pass is needed to break the tie between the two…and that's when Leander lets Thaddeus have it. A truly hard hit with the lance square to the helm, breaking the blunted weapon…much to the delight of the crowd. The hit was certainly hard-fought…and upends Thaddeus out of his saddle! The Giraldi quickly halts his steed, turning around to ride back towards Thaddeus…offering a hand up from his saddle. "Good show, good Sir. Let us finish this evening on a good note." It is only after Leander is assured that Thaddeus is well before the Giraldi leaves…only to line up with one that does not find him as favorable as her younger sister. The princess Antonia. With a light shrug, he offers a salute and a smile. "May we both ride well this eve." He doesn't expect a response…but instead prepares himself for one more round.

Thaddeus is frustrated that he has not been not hitting very well, and to add insult to injury, he is unhorsed by a damn Giraldi. Thad picks himself off the ground and dusts himself off. With a wince he says with the best he can, "Well struck, sir, and indeed."

It's not the most exciting joust, but there are a few points scored between Michael and Joffrey, with Michael edging out the victory, "You as well. Though I think I know who my next opponent may be, and I'm going to need it more." He replies to Michael before moving to face exactly who he feared: Duke Cesare l'Corren. Joffrey was, after all, the last of his children on the field…if only by marriage. "An honor to face you, Your Grace." Joffrey notes when he salutes.

Cesare isn't scoring spectacular hits, but despite that, you can be sure that the crowds are absolutely ROARING for the contest between their beloved Duke and the renowned Champion that is his son. In the end, though, it is not a particularly spectacular affair, with the Duke again edging out his progeny on points, and remaining quite cheerful as he passes his son, "Well done, my boy, but it seems you all have a bit before you've caught up to me!" He jests, knowing full well his children are every bit his equal, but he doesn't have to act like it! And speaking of children…he now moves on to face his Goodson, Joffrey t'Synclarre, grinning across the field at the man and returning his salute, "Likewise, Sir Joffrey! I've managed to best my other children here today. Let's see if my little Gwen's favor brings you luck enough to turn those tables, eh?" And then it's just the final preparations before the final joust….

Louisa manages to keep things close with Benjamin t'Tremaine at first, but in the end, the old campaigner manages, of all things, to unhorse her! It's not a terribly violent unhorsing though…more an overbalancing after a not-terribly-hard hit. She's quickly back to her feet and the crowd that took in that collective gasp releases it in relief that their Queen is all right. She waves to the crowd, eliciting a few more cheers, and notes to Benjamin, "Well struck, Sir! I should have been more careful." And after reclaiming her horse, she's off to face Prince Martyn Tracano. Her smile for him is warm, though, when she salutes, "Well met, Cousin. It is good to see you here in Couviere. I would hate to send you home with dirt on your back, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to try."

Martyn takes up his place and offers a salute to Louisa, before looking momentarily at a loss for words after she speaks. "I ah…" He pauses a moment, "I was grateful for the opportunity, but I'm not sure many of your people feel the same, Your Majesty." He does grin just a touch at her challenge though, "Oh? Well…I would not wish to embarrass you in front of your people…but I'm afraid I'm going to have to try just as hard!" And with that, the two royals begin their respective charges.

"Seems, someone favors you," Antonia remarks to Leander in a reply that is delivered rather coldly, before she lowers her visor and then rides on, Othello's mane fluttering from the speed as the courser's hooves thunder beneath them; her lance couched and aimed to unhorse! Had her showings so far in the joust been rather mediocre, it is now that the l'Valdan Princess suddenly seems to have regained her focus. And all it took, was her horribly romantic and foolish little sister giving this Rivanan upstart knight her favor! The fact, Leander's lance manages a hit against her abdomen in the first pass does not matter - it is only a moment of pain, Antonia has already gotten used to by now. But her own lance breaks near the tip, when it gets the Giraldi at his right hand. In the second pass, she evades his lance entirely, whilst landing another well-placed hit against his chest with a fresh lance. The third pass brings points to neither of the two, so when Antonia finally reigns Othello in, the white stallion prancing a little still from the tourney axcitement, she will offer a polite: "It was a good tilt." Nothing more. Oh. Apart from a faint twitch of a smile. A brief moment, where her dislike of Rivanan nobility flashes in her mien. A brief moment of weakness. But then it is already gone, and such is she. Riding off to see after her brother and others of her acquaintance.

Evelyn is unable to score against the Snowshield, while her opponent lances two off her. Evely knows Nadine is a damn fine jouster, and inclines her head as the tilts end, saluting the winner of the joust, telling her, "You're welcome to join us. Looks like I'm buying ales all around, save for Sir Joffrey." She takes off her helmet, and gives Nadine a bright smile, then, before leading her horse off the field. It was not, by far, her best joust. But then again, she fared far better than her last showing, and that's enough to put her in some good spirits.

At last Michael breaks a lance. The points giving him the win against his cousin. He salutes the knight. "Well fought," he says as he lifts his visor and surveys the tourney ground. "And whoever wins this business, we've done well drawing this sort of crowd," he remarks clearly pleased with the event.

Amara sends Leander a bright smile as the round of matches ends before the final pairings are announced. And then the pairings are announced. She sighs a bit before more words are exchanged with her mother. She winces when that first tilt between Leander and Antonia ends with a shattered lance upon his hand of all places. There /is/ some cheering for her sister, as Amara was proud of her, but there weren't as loud as they might have been if it had been against someone else. There is more cheering for Elrick within his tilts. And while her father earns his own cheers, a flicker of disappointment comes when he does seem to actually lose a match.

And finally, Samuel manages to get things going. This time, he manages to deliver three hits to his opponent, although it's the first one that's the hardest. But it seems to work as he manages to knock his opponent off the horse. Pausing as he gets to the end, he dismounts and moves over to offer Thaddeus a hand to get up again, should the man want that.

Talk about a cold reception. It almost brings Leander to laugh. Almost. Instead, he drops his helm down and starts the first of his three passes. He does manage to score a blow…but the shattering of a lance to his right hand negated any sort of advantage that blow might have offered. And…missing on the next two passes doesn't help. However, he does still remain in good spirits…enough to offer agreement to her statement. And a brief "Thank you" before the princess brushes him aside as if he was refuse. Oh well. Still in good spirits, Leander turns and offers a bow from his saddle to the box of honor…and in particular to the Baroness and Amara. Then…and only then, does he ride to the sidelines, to dismount and get out of his armor.

Though Elrick rode well against his cousin, Michael, it is l'Corren knight that claims victory when one of his lances broke on impact in one of the exchanges. Bowing his head respectfully to the other knight, the Heir to Hartwood can't be too upset with the results, "Well done, cousin. The victory is yours." His gaze sweeps the stands, seeing just how many people have shown up to watch, "We have, many thanks to you and your father. Thank you, Lord Sir Michael, for making this possible."

When the announcement is made that Gabriel is tied with him at the top of the scoring for the joust, Elrick was not surprised. Michael's twin was always a formidable competitor when he was active in the Tourney Circuit, it is not a surprise that his cousin is still in top form. However, when his father's name was announced with his for second place, there was a look of shock that appears briefly on the Heir's face. A quick look over to the Baron shows that the old man still has soem of his old skills with him.

But it appears that there will be one more tilt, this one unintentionally becoming the main feature as Elrick will have to ride against Gabriel to see who is the final victor. "Cousin." He greets as he rides to his end of the tilt, grinning at the Red Knight that is opposite of him. "I wish you luck but from the way have always jousted, you most likely won't need it. However, I cannot just hand over the victory to you that easily, as this is my home. I hope you understand."

Gabriel's able to pull out a victory against Benjamin on points, it's enough of a victory in and of itself. Hearing that he is tied for first with Elrick, he lets out a long sigh. It seems his day wasn't over just yet. Retaking his position and switching out his lance, he gives the t'Tremaine a nod. "That is well, I expect as much from any knight of Couviere." Really anyone who wouldn't give it their all would disappoint all of the spectators.

Cesare l'Corren grunts as the first lance strikes him. Not a terribly hard strike, but a point scored nonetheless, and it seems that after that, he just can't quite seem to get his own strikes to connect with his opponent. Perhaps at last the simple advantage of more youthful stamina tilts the match in favor of the Unbroken. "Well jousted, Sir!" Cesare compliments the man, "I see I chose well for Gwen." A warm smile then, "Not that I ever had any doubts."

Joffrey inclines his head in deferenec to the Duke, "You honor me, Your Grace. In words and in favor." A smiles, "But she is treasured."

Louisa l'Valdan gets the better of Martyn Tracano, moving to salute the man as the pass after their runs, "Well, I didn't put you in the dirt and you didn't embarrass me. I suppose that's the kind of compromise we're going to have to start making in days to come, isn't it?" Louisa's tone is mirthful, not particularly sardonic.

Martyn looks a touch surprised for a moment, then nods, his smile small, almost pensive, but genuine, "I suppose it is, Your Majesty. Hopefully the first of many that turn out acceptable for both our Kingdoms." A beat, "However begrudgingly." And then he inclines his head, and moves off to bear witness to the final match.

Because yes, there is indeed a final match, as the announcer steps forward and notes:

"Ladies and Lords! Masters and Mistresses and all in attendance…we have a tie! And in order to break this tie, we will be having a sudden-death ride off!" The crowd cheers, of course, and it's a few moments before the announcer can speak again, "Sir Gabriel l'Saigner vs. Sir Elrick t'Tremaine. The first man to go up on points is the winner! May the best Knight win!"

Oh yeah, the Crowd is rattling windows in the city nearby with their din now. Hometown Hero versus National Champion. IT'S ON!

Amara gives a rather warm and bright smile to Leander when he bows towards her and her mother. While her eyes follow his progress to the sidelines, her attention is soon going towards the final tilt that get called to decide the winner. More words getting exchange between her and her mother with her brother being in it! Once more upon the edge of her seat as it begins. Knowing just one point beign scored could decide it! And it takes three rounds before that point is managed…by her brother! Amara is on her feet cheering for him! Even if her own cheers are lost amongst the reaction of the crowd itself.

Antonia has already dismounted, and she is watching from the side when her brother Elrick rides in this final, all-deciding tilt. A cry of glee jumps from her lips when she notices that light hit that makes the t'Tremaine heir the winner. "Elrick!!!" The name fades into a cheerful chuff of laughter, when she runs over to congratulate him on his win. "You did it! I knew it!" Pulling him into a warm sisterly embrace as soon as he is available for such. And not minding the bruises screaming on various parts of her body as she does.

Yes…even those damn southern knights watch the final tilts. At least…one of those damn southern knights. The very same one that seemed to be the t'Tremaine's favorite target. And, with a grey feline sitting upon his shoulder, Leander watches the heir and the champion go at it. It seems appropriate, at least in Leander's mind, that it would be down to those two. And…when Elrick finally scores that winning point, there is applause from the Giraldi. Polite applause, but applause, nonetheless. He does nothing more to go congratulate, though. Leander has drawn enough attention to himself. No need for any more.

The finale was not decided on the first pass or the second, but the third as both riders are quite skillful astride their steeds, able to deflect the blows enough where they do not score a point. However, it was on the third pass that the Heir to Hartwood was able to edge out his opponent, the famed Red Knight, with a blow that was slightly better placed, allowing the judges to score it as a point. There was no brutal clash with lances shattering and a knight falling loudly to the ground, but an elegant finish to the tourney. When he reaches the end of the tilt, Elrick wheels his charger around and offers a salute to Gabriel as the joust and tourney is at and end. Tossing his lance to the squire waiting for him, the heir pulls off his helm and nods to his cousin, "Well fought, cousin, through the whole tourney." Then his attention shifts to the crowd, most who are from here, his home and with a proud smile, he offers a salute to them before raising his hand in a wave. It appears that morale continues to increase for this barony, their course righted after having been steered astray for so long.

However, the Heir to House t'Tremaine is not done as when he was done waving to the crowd, his attention shifts to search for the one who the favor on his arm belongs to. Seeing Nadine, he nudges his charger into a gentle trot and approaches her, "Lady Sir Nadine, it is with your favor that had granted me luck and protected me this tournament. Thank you." He says with a pleased grin, no doubt drawing more attention to the northern knight who does not venture away from the t'Cadri lands too often.

Nadine, her helmet tucked under her arm at her side as she sits astride her destrier, blushes. It's not the girlish flush of fluttering emotions, but more the blush of someone not accustomed to the spotlight suddenly being pushed into it. "And it was your favor that led me to victory in the melee yesterday," she responds evenly. "So I thank you as well, Lord Sir Elrick." Perhaps less formal in other situations, but here and now a touch of formality is proper.
