Tournament Grounds - Ostvor - Couviere

Immediately off the heavy stone gates over to the Imperial Lands, nestled inside the inner Gatehouse level visible on all sides, are the tournament grounds of Ostvor. One of the rare (if not the only) large unopened expanse of the city then made up of tightly packed stones then with softer rocks atop them it has been established as a tournament ground. About the size of a large sports field built upon a foundation of stone, there are several divided sections of the stand for the varying countries from the Edge that have sent representatives to the tournament or visitors, appropriately divided by nobility. The native nobles have higher seats as well as the rulers of Couviere. There are smaller sections for commoners lower. The seats are built out of wood and many of them even have small cushions atop them, and a large tarp can be quickly unwheeled over the stands to give some protection from inclement weather. The various sections of the stands have the flags and heraldry of their cities and countries set beneath them. Underneath the stands are vendors selling food and small souvenirs.

The tournament grounds have two stalls setup for those who are competing to enter and leave, and otherwise for those who are giving support to the competitors to be arrayed in - healers, squires, footmen, or others who need to be immediately on hand. A small section is set aside for judges. The area where the actual tournament is to take place in faces the Imperial Gates, and is stone that has had heavy layers of straw and dirt and smaller rocks put atop it to soften it, and the competition grounds are designed so they can be switched around quickly with platforms and equipment depending on what competition is being held.

The crowds for the bareknuckle brawling portion of this tournament are…considerably more "common" than those that comprise the audiences for the melee and joust events. Not just because this is one of the events that non-knightly commoners can take place in, but also because this particular go-round, there are FAR less Knights taking part in the actual contest.

Normally, a great many of the Knightly competitors try their hands at the bareknuckle contest…whether poor hedge knights looking to score the purse, or simply competitive folk who want to test their skills. This tourney though…few of the knights want to risk injury or fatigue in the point-scoring events when Sidhe-Steel is on the line, so while there are of course still a few Knights who will brave the brawls, many of them are missing today.

In the Ducal box, it's not Manfred l'Faust who's overseeing today's events, but rather his son and heir, Osric. He does have the good grace to at least look mildly enthusastic about his task, whether it's feigned or not, and as the fighting rings begin to be occupied by their varying contestants, he does cast an eye downward to watch the proceedings.

This section of the grounds has been divided off into several fighting circles, allowing for multiple matches at a time. Such combats have been going on for much of the last couple days, weeding out a vast multitude of the competitors until today they reach the final bracket. And so the final contenders prepare for their last few fights, as Osric awaits a signal from below that all is in readiness before he starts this round of competition.

Odilia bounces on her toes a bit as she waits for the commpetition to begin. Moving to the circle when her name is called. A grin back towards Talia and the others before she about bounces into said circle. A rather bright smile offered to Alexandra,"Good luck, m'lady."

The one good ting about a smaller crowd, was there would be few to witness Emilia most likely getting pummeled. But better way to try and push her skills then actualyl compete? Just like she had been coached to do with her painting. Tough a brow might be raised in seeing who she would first face. A look going over to her good-brother,"Just who do you think Raelyn will be of rooting for?"

Gastogne is currently stretching over as he gets ready for the fights. NOt particualrly expecting to do well, otherwise he's enjoying a chance to otherwise get into a fistfight without much reprecussion, glancing over at some of the other scrappers.

Two of the knights that /are/ participating, though, are t'Marens. And the female half of the pair is one of the first two up, stepping into the circle opposite Odilia, grinning from ear to ear as she does. "Good luck to you, too. You'll need it." Taking a moment before the match begins, she takes a glance or three over the field, though her eyes quite deliberately don't linger on Jonathan for a moment longer than anyone else.

Evelyn l'Faust sits with her elder brother, she being one of those Knights that has no desire to suffer freak injury, has taken to observing the match with great interest, she a known combatant from time-to-time in that very competition. "A curious selection of contenders," she mentions to him casually.

Raelyn Cassomir, seated in one of the noble boxes, would not miss this for the world. Her husband, and her sister both competing? She certainly has a few people to cheer for, in good spirits.

Meanwhile, on the field, Talia t'Corbeau may have stirred some interest, and caused some rumblings when it is discovered or had been discovered she would be amongst those participating. She has finished her streches, and has gone cold, and silent, watching the competition with measured scrutiny. Still, there is the shadow of a smile on her face. She nods to Odilia, conveying a silent message she expects the woman to best the t'Maren.

Jonathan t'Maren is also among the handful of knights who have elected to give the Bareknuckle a try, and he's on the sidelines as the first round begins, bare from the waist up, quiet and evidently pensive as he looks out over the field. And over the other knight who's found herself in the first round. His eyes meet Alex's for a moment, and he gives a little nod.

A soft chuckle is heard as Philippe does the unthinkable…he puts his lute down. "This should be an experience." He says this to no one in particular…as he prepares for a fight? Well…pretty boy has some guts…or not enough brains.

"I don't know, Emilia. I suspect if we asked she'd say she wished us both luck." Stephen replies to Emilia, leaning up against a bit of railing and grinning sidelong towards her. "I didn't ask for her favor this time, though, once you let us know you wanted to compete. Wouldn't be fair to her." He turns his icy blue eyes to watch the initial match, studying the combatants intently.

Seeing the signal that everything is in order, Osric gives the signal for the matches to begin!

<COMBAT> Odilia has been KO'd!

Turns out that luck was on Alex's side. Or skill. Yes, definitely skill. She closes in fast with her opponent once the Archduke's son gives the signal, and while her aggressive style means she takes a couple of hits, it ends up being a winning strategy. A hard blow to the neck slows Odilia down, and a brutal hit to the chest sends her staggering away. "Best of luck in the next round," she wishes the commoner, grinning as she dusts herself off and rolls her shoulders to loosen up for the next round.

Why did the organizers put all the women against each other, anyway? She does't know Talia well, personally, but she knows the lady by reputation. Her grin is maybe a touch smaller when she hops back into the ring.

Stephen tilts a golden brow at the match that unfolds, but with that "warm-up" done, it's time to move towards the fighting ring himself, against none other than his goodsister, whom he gives a slight bow to as they array themselves for the next matches. "Good luck, Emilia. I won't be offended if you put me in the dirt." He takes up a defensive posture, ready to start the "battle" such as it were.

Odilia just gives Alexandra another grin when the knight tells her she'll need luck. Bouncing a little yet as she manages to dodge that first swing that comes in from Alexandra. Bouncing a bit to much and wiffing her own attempt to hit the knight. Even if her next hit strikes true. Though Odilia's stride misses after there is the strike to her neck. Even if it doesn't wipe the smile from her face. Not even when she stumbles back, signalling yield does that smile go away. Shaking it off before giving the surly knight another beaming grin. "And to you. You might be the one needing it." Odilia did know Talia well. Talia gets a small shrug when Odilia removes herself from the field. For now.

Of course, Jonathan has more interest than most in the outcome of the first match of the night. His eyes are fixed on Alexandra as she delivers her pummelling of the common woman, and he gives another nod, accompanied by a little, toothy smile, when her opponent drops. Not long, though, before he's in the ring himself, taking up a defensive posture as he faces Philippe. A commoner. An unknown. And that makes him dangerous enough. The knight gives the man a respectful nod, but says nothing.

"I have no of doubt of that. But we all of know we both cannot of win, certainly not of the same of bout." Emilia gives a slight shrug,"It is of your right to ask of it if you wished to bear it. I would not have had issue. But I do see of the point and fairness to of her." The favor that Emilia had, worn but more secured to not me a liablity so much, given the nature of the combat. Thus the strip of leather was not quite as easily seen as when she's worn it before. Her own attention turning to that first fight as well. That stoic mein unreadable through out, before giving a nod to Stephen when they move to their own circle for their bout. She returns the bow,"And good of luck to you, Stephen. Nor I if it turns the I end up in the dirt." A faint tug at the corners of her lips.

Thad sits in the archducal box with his wife, only having half-paid attention to the first match. When his brother finally enters the arena, the Greycen heir applauds for his brother, trying to keep within the bounds of appropriateness for the box.

As he heads over towards his own match, Gastogne gives a low and somewhat showy bow then as he looks over his opponent. He's not expecting to do well,b ut he's expecting he can make a fair show of it then as he moves to bow on low, and then moves to straightne up, and goes over into a defensive stance, waiting for the match to start off on then. Attention fully on his opponent.

Raelyn claps politely at the show between the two female competitors, but her true interest lays in the next match. Her sister had posed a very poignant question, and she perhaps might be rooting for both, and neither. But her eye will certainly will be on the fight of the Cassomirs.

Talia's lips twitch downwards, slightly, when Odilia is taken down by Alexandra. But, as she moves into the ring, she inclines her head with respect to her opponent. "A fine showing," she provides, and moves into a ready stance, her smile one of quiet confidence.

Evelyn sits forward in her chair, just a little, now that more the rings are opening. So many fights to watch. She looks aside to Osiric, "There will be much gold changing hands, tonight, I think. Many unusual competitors this Tourney."

The sharp blue eyes of Philippe watches the fist fight unfold. And…while it looks like Odilia started out strong, the lady knight swiftly overtakes the match. There is a little bit of a wince in sympathy for the solid blow to the chest…but that's all. Then he walks out into the ring…and while Jonathan might consider Philippe an unknown….the crowd certainly knows Philippe….but not for his fighting skills. A murmur of doubt runs through the crowd…mainly doubt of Phil's sanity…as the premiere bard of Couviere, going in to a bareknuckle match. Philippe offers a perfectly measured bow to Jonathan, and a bit of that smile of his. "Good luck to us both, good Sir."

The small woman dances about him. She hits Gastogne, and he takes the blow and goes backwards while trying to respond with a bare knuckled swing of his own. The smaller woman seems to not even be phased by it. He goes to try and swing over at her again then with an overhand go, and the woman just hits him clean to the chest and he folds and collapses. Wheezing on the ground, stars in his eyes. "Good.. Match." He lets out a groan, standing up and looking dazedly at the woman who cleanly floored him.

The truth of it was Emilia expected to end up in the dirt, this was not a skill she had trained in near as long as others. Which does show well enough in the first exchange as she swings wide and takes that punch to the chest. A pattern that quickly repeats itself. And almost goes for a thrice repeat, until Emilia breaks the pattern with managing a solid hit to Stephen's head! A few more hits manage to land, but Emilia does miss more than she hits. That last hit to the stomach sending her sprawling back into the dirt. A hand waving in sign of yield as she tries to regain a bit of breath with the wind knocked out of her. (And likely trying to keep something from surfacing.)

Ouch. It's a good match for Alex, all things considered, even if it ends rather badly. Talia gets a few good shots in on her early on, and, grimacing, she lunges in closer, punching and twisting and fighting with all her might. It actually works pretty well for a little while, and she manages to knock Talia down quite a bit, but a brutal blow to the chest leaves her on her butt. And there she stays for a few minutes before shuffling to her feet and wandering off the field. At least she'll have a breather before the next round. Fringe benefits of losing.

Odilia does watch these next matches with keen interest, sizing up some of the ocmpetition as she gets a break. Even if some redness shows on her neck from the it taken, it does not seem to be bothering her much. She does give particular attention to the match of Talia and Alexandra. With Phillipe and Gastogne's matches garnering attention, til both hit the dirt. She knows who will be joining her in some refresher training. Oh, her turn again! Gastogne gets a rather bright smile from Odilia as she bounced into the circle with him. "Shall we see who Talia is going to be harder on?"

Twirling, Gastogne winces over in sympathy at Philippe.. And then oer at himself as he sees whom he is up against. He gives a low bow over to Odilia and lets out a sigh, "Please don't hit me too hard." He offers, going to amore defensive stance then and tryign to shake the waevs from his head from the last dangerous woman whom had just jabbed him down then as he got himself ready once more.

Well, one thing's for certain…Stephen Cassomir is not taking it easy on his goodsister. As soon as the match starts, he unleashes a flurry of punishing strikes to Emilia's torso, largely unanswered save for one solid *thwack* to his head that does whip his head to the side, before he lands another combination, finishing off with a hard strike right to Emilia's breadbasket. When she gives the sign of yielding, he lowers his hands, and then offers one to help Emilia to her feet, "Looks like luck was with me this time. Good luck going forward, Emilia."

As knight and bard square off, Philippe lands a hit upon the noble Lord Jonathan. It was really a bit of a sucker punch, really, as Phil's fist connects with Jon's abdomen. Of course, that seemed to only anger the nobleman, who takes out Philippe in a matter of a mere couple of blows. Despite being pummelled, for really Philippe was, he offers a smile to the knight and another bow. "Well struck, Sir. Good luck for the rest of the night…and the tournament besides."

Jonathan's match with the commoner is over quite a bit sooner than he'd anticipated. Pressing in close, yet keeping his guard up, he shrugs off a single blow and lands a couple of good hits of his own, enough to force the man to surrender at any rate. A respectful nod to Philippe, a "Likewise," and he's done in time to watch the end of his wife's bout with the Viscountess - and one that leaves her in the dirt, at that. Grimacing, he steps out of the ring, brow furrowing as he considers the seeds and the outcomes of each match. If he's not mistaken, well, the next match will be especially interesting.

Talia moves in, but Alexandra is first to get the hit in, before the Viscountess can counter, and she returns the hit from Alexandra several times over, but Talia is more patient, more experienced than her opponent. She takes her share of hits, and good ones, from the other woman, but she finds the opening she wants, landing a hard, fast blow into the Knight's chest and likely knock some of the wind out of her. Still, Talia inclines her head in respect, before she looks to her next opponent. However, when she sees Philippe has fallen as well? She merely shakes her head. She dusts her hands off, rolls her shoulders and looking at the brackets, starts to consider Stephen Cassomir. Again, Talia smiles. Fate is indeed interesting.

Raelyn stands up on her feet. Once. Twice. Three times. And it's not so much cheering as it is, kind of cheering, kind of wondering if the other one is okay. If there are other fights going on? She has no idea. She only has eyes for Stephen and Emilia's fight. Yet, when Emilia goes down, Raelyn stands up, wordless, but sighs, smiles, and sits down when Stephen proves to be 'Stephen', the man she fell in love with. "Well," she ventures to those near her, "At least I shan't have to go through -that- again." And it will be far easier for her to root for either of them when they aren't fighting each other.

<COMBAT> Gastogne attacks Odilia with Hands but Odilia DODGES!

<COMBAT> Gastogne has been KO'd!

"You know she wouldn't like it if either went easy on the other," tsks Odilia to Gastogne. Even if the round starts of with some light taps. The hits do soon start to get more serious as solid *whacks* are made. Not that those hits on her seem to give Odilia much pause, simply shifting in her stance to counter before her fist connect and then bouncing to miss most of the others that come at her. Before that final hit strikes Gastogne in the chest sending him down. She grins at him and winks before she does offer a hand,"I think you'll have more training."

Jonathan watches the first match of the losers' bracket, a battle between two commoners, with mild interest, giving a respectful cheer for the winner when Gastogne hits the dust. But his attention is mostly on the announcement of the next round's matchups, and in particular… yes, there's that /interesting/ match he was expecting. And so he climbs back into the ring opposite his half-sister, greeting her with a little, trepidatious smile. "Don't expect me to go easy on you, Sid." His confidence in this round is measured, to say the least. He knows Esyld's fighting style better than anyone, but that just means he knows how dangerous she is.

Stephen watches the next match with the same intent expression he watched the first, but when it's passed and it's time for him to take his place, he moves over and finds himself facing Talia t'Corbeau. He gives her a bow as they square off, "Your Excellency." He lifts his hands into a defensive posture, studying his opponent intently, looking for signs of where her attack will come from.

Gastogne quickly nods over at Odilia then, grunting, "Aye." His eyes on her then, even as the pair charge at one another. A quick hit from him at her arm, a solid one from her to his chest. Odilia cleanly dodges his next attempt at a swing and sent him reeling again wtih a blow to his hand. Wincing, he went to swing more heavily at her chest, even as she hit his hand again and left it flat, unresponsive. Then her next strike to his chest sent him sprawling into the ground and he laughed. "Aye. S'pose I do." SEeing stars, rising up then and giving her a bow as best he could, leaving the marked area of the match then with a shake in his head to try and clear the cowbwebs.

There just might be some sort of internal groan by Emilia when she see's who she will face. Why did she think this was a good idea? Not that an ounce of it shows on her face, ever stoic and Cassomir. Bowing slightly to the Lady Knight before shifting into a more…cautious poise this time.

While Talia cannot hear Odilia's words to Gastgone, the winner of the match does get the faintest nod from Talia in approval of her win. She eyes, too, the other matches, as if attempting to calculate potential victors, and outcomes, before focusing her thoughts more directly on the matter at hand. "Your Excellency," she returns, cordially, and offers the man a smile. "A curious twist of fate, this match." The smile fades, and she nods respectfully towards him, and then raises her own hands. She, it seems, has little problem going on the offensive, first.

And it's back in the ring for Alexandra, with just enough time to recover from that hit she took at the hands of Talia. And… yep, another woman. Rivanan, this time. "Hope you're feeling lucky," she greets Emilia with a grin. Dropping into an easy, relaxed stance, not worrying about anyone who may or may not be fighting in the other rounds, she closes in.

Raelyn, meanwhile, in that comfortable noble booth seems as if she's watching some sort of tennis match, her head shifting from one ring to the other, trying to keep both track of Emilia, and Stephen at the same time. By the expression on her features, it's not the easiest, or most pleasant things to be doing just now. Watching Jaren was one thing - watching two who she never would have expected to be in a contention as this compete who were closest to her is entirely another.

It would be a lie if Philippe said that he did not enjoy watched that last bout. And, it would be a lie if he expected Gast to win. After all, he knows full well of how capable Odilia is. And so…when she does win, Philippe wanders on over towards her direction, offering a grand sweeping bow to O. "Dearest Odilia, the fates have decreed that we shall meet. I pray that you will not think lesser of me for this tragic circumstance. Let us give our captive audience a grand show."

After the hits Emilia took from her good brother? "No, not of particularly," she notes to Alexandra in response before the match truly gets started. Luck was rarely on her side truth be told. A thing that still seems to be true as the first hit lands in on her and she misses. But apperantly luck is on her side as she dodges and manages to eventually land a blow that sends the Lady Knight down. There may be a momentary flicker of surprise in the young Cassomir's eyes even. Oh…great another match.

As Odilia steps into the ring with Phillipe she offers a smile and returning bow,"It does seem that the fates have decreed it, darling Phillipe. I think no lesser and doth pray we shall give them a fine show." Adding with a wink,"Shall we make a friendly wager on this? I bake you your favorite cookies if you win, I get a personal seranding if I win? Hmmm?" And well…not certain if it was a good show, but it resolves in only a few exchanges. Odilia waving Philippe off as she stumbles into the dirt,"You win this one….man are you a slippery one." Giving him a wink and a grin. Certainly no hard feelings had.

It's a hard-fought match between the t'Maren heir and his half-sister, and it ends almost exactly as one might have expected. Both are staggering backward by the finish, but Esyld hit just a little bit harder, and she's awarded the victory on points. "Well," he replies, if through clenched teeth. "See you in the finals, mmm?" It only takes the knight a moment to pull himself back together, and One help the next one he faces, even winded as he is.

It is with equal parts awe and terror over from the sidelines, bruises still clouding his vision that Gastogne watches the next series of fights execute. It is with awe he watches the man that is his friend (That ina ll likelihood does not think the same of him back) win over on Odilia then as he raises up his fist in a general salute. And as the lady t'Corbeau loses he also winces and settles in his place on the sidelines, taking a seat then and just watching.

Alexandra's bout with Emilia is harder-fought than she'd expected, the Rivanan matching her shot for shot. And in the end, despite herself, she ends up yielding, stumbling back out of the ring. Done for the night already. She's cursing under her breath, and her mood doesn't particularly improve when she sees her husband just slightly outmatched by his father's bastard. At least she's not seriously injured. Probably.

Well, there can be little doubt that the onetime Warden from Seaguard has either seen plenty of fights or been quite well-trained in fighting with his hands, because he unleashes a pair of what amounts to "power-blocks", striking at Talia's leading hand when it tries to strike at him, connecting twice with painful impacts of his knuckles against the back of it. And when Talia snatches her hand back, he steps inside her guard and drives a hard knee into her midsection. And all for the price of a light bruise in his own midsection. "Well fought." Stephen bows once more to Talia, and moves to take a bit of a rest until his next match.

Talia is clearly caught off-guard by Stephen's feint, and the man has her number, it'd appear. She only manages a single tap to Stephen's jaw, while his blows come in rapid succession and send her sprawling to the ground, though she proves more resilient than he might expect. She wipes her jaw off, holds her gut and then rises to her feet after taking that beating, and she smiles, genuinely. "Well played, Excellency. Perhaps I shall see you at the end of this all, and, having learned my lesson, return the favor." She, at least, by such words, intends to be in the finals. At least, if she can have any say of it.

That was a particularly good round for Philippe. He managed to hold his own with Odilia and score two rather solid hits before Odilia stumbles. "How about I serenade you while you provide the cookies? It seems only fair." With that, he helps her to her feet, before Philippe turns and glance to see who his next opponent is. And…judging by the sudden paling of his features, Philippe just found out. He steps back into the ring…and offers an exceedingly proper bow to Talia…his patron and employer, among other things. "Your Excellency. I sincerely hope this doesn't jeopardize our relationship." A jest, of course…but one probably half hearted. Philippe might be a little scared.

Emilia draws a slight breath and is pretty sure luck is against her as she moves to that next match. She has seen how hard this knight hits during the regular knightly events. She offers a bow,"Sir," in the spirit of competition. Shifting into that more cautious stance again, knowing she'll be collecting even more bruises. Maybe it is that turn of th emind and simply accepting fate that turns the tides as she manages to dodge and flit about avoiding Jonathan's strikes at her, but see's her landing solid hit after solid hit (mostly!) With her rather unnatural grace, it is rather like a whispy sprite flitting about…just one that packs one hell of a punch!

Nobody was expecting the outcome of /that/ round less than Jonathan t'Maren. Losing to Esyld wasn't shocking. It's happened before. But when this sprite of a noblewoman catches him square in the chest, and then square in the chest AGAIN, he's stunned, physically and mentally. The match is nearly over before it's over. "Well struck," he addresses her, softly, and while there's respect in his voice and in his eyes, it's impossible to mask his frustration. Still, picking up what's left of his dignity, he shuffles off the field. Not a good night for t'Marens - at least, not those with the name.

Well…that round went as expected for Philippe. He did manage to land a blow to Talia but his particular…placement…of said blow might have messed with his mind somewhat. He did manage to dodge his patron's blows…but a particularly solid blow to his chest knocks the wind out of him…as well as his legs from under him. He gets up…and tries to offer congratulations…but can barely speak. Good thing the artistic competition isn't tomorrow…Phil is going to need a little time to recover.

Odilia accepts the hand with a cheery grin,"That seems like a fair enough counter." Looking to where he's heading next. Odilia does atually wince a touch,"Good luck, you will need it." Before she finds a spot to watch the remaining matches from. Her attention is on the match between the Viscountess and the Bard, and there is no shock when Talia wins that one. Though the woman does blink…and blink again to see that small Rivanan girl take out Jonathan. Now there is some money that's gotten lost.

Stephen Cassomir is known to be quite a stoic fellow, but even he can't help but look more than a little bit shocked at how his Goodsister manhandles the rather intimidating-looking Knight from Bloodfields. He does let out a bit of a cheer when Jonathan falls, happy for Emilia, but then he has to turn his attention to his next match, moving to square off against Esyld Draven. A nods is given across the field, and he again takes up his stance, evenly weighted on both feet, arms up to try to intercept incoming strikes.

Talia finds herself in the ring with her very own bard. And, by way of greeting, by way of challenging, and by way of showing respect to her opponent, all Talia says is, "Philippe." And then, she moving, slamming her fist into him without mercy, and without even a pause. She moves swiftly out of his swing, and that causes her to miss, and Philippe to find any opening, hititng her in the chest. "Unexpected," she counters, as if she'd not known her bard skilled enough to even touch her. She slams an even harder blow into his chest, just as she did with Alexandra. She offers the bard her hand, at the very least, before looking to her next opponent.

Raelyn is cheering. Wildly. Clapping, and whistling as loudly as she can. Not only did Stephen beat Talia, but Emilia's won as well. She could only be prouder, perhaps, if one of them were to take home the win.

Glancing over at Philippe, Gastogne heads over towards his friend wtih a 'you okay' expression on his face, and otherwise moves over to let the other man wave him away over if he's not wanted then - he has that much sense then,b ut otherwise if his friend needs a hand to lean on or at least to blame on, it will be offered.

Emilia offers a bow to Talia as she moves to this next match. She has seen this woman fight…in this event before. The Fates are against her, aren't they? It becomes a much shorter match as only a single hit makes any contact, one that sends Emilia spirling sideways and into the dirt. Giving a mild rise of a hand, not the one that jsut got pummeled,"I of yield." Hoping the hand actually recovers in time for the archery. And…the One all the bruising she's managed to rack up. "Well of fought this of day." The Cassomir making her way from the field after this final illimination, still surprised she actually lasted this far in truth. Turning to watch the last of Stephen's match. She'd clap, but well…her hand hurts a bit.

This round passes rather quickly, and though Stephen can't see what's happening with Emilia's match, he and Esyld both move to attack each other, and Stephen quickly gains an upper hand with a strong body-blow, though Esyld partially returns it with a swift counterpunch, followed by a combination jab, but Stephen's already backing away, causing it to just lightly impact, and then he steps in again and sends Esyld onto her back with another punishing body-blow. He inclines his head to her once more, "Well-Fought." And then he's moving for a brief rest before he again faces either Talia t'Corbeau or Esyld once more.

"You've done well," Talia praises Emilia, "Jonathan t'Maren is quite an excellent fighter." She seems genuinely surprised. And given her recent bout and loss to Stephen, she's going to presume little of Emilia's true skill, just yet. She's been in her own fights, and has had little enough time to observe her. "Here is to an excellent match, Lady Emilia." And, Talia moves in, spotting her opening, and taking it with hard, fast punch. She nods when the woman yields, and wishes her well. Now, she turns to face Eslyd, smiling at the woman. "Ah. Splendid. A true competitor. This shall be exciting," she murmurs, with sincere appreciation. "May the better fighter this day win," she says.

Raelyn rises, instantly, the moment Emilia goes down again, and then she mutters something - likely unpleasant, and unladylike about Talia t'Corbeau under her breath, but she seems at least relieved Emilia is well, and little worse for wear. She still has Stephen's match to watch, though, and so she sends a messenger down to make sure Emilia has anything she needs, in the meantime.

Stephen moves back to the fighting ring now, again giving a slight bow to Talia, "I suppose I'll have to hope you didn't completely take my measure last time." He notes with a touch of a smile, before dropping into his defensive stance once more. He certainly knows this is no opponent to take lightly.

The next couple of rounds go by in a blur for Jonathan. His attention only snaps back forward when he sees his half-sister hit the dirt, the recipient of another brutal blow from Talia t'Corbeau that shows how she's climbed back into the finals after a serious setback. For the moment, at least, the knight loses himself in being a spectator, and he leans forward to watch the final bout, or bouts, between Stephen and Talia with no small degree of interest.

"I told you," states Talia, with a slow nod, "That I would return. I don't like losing," she tells Stephen, conversationally. Still, she's in good enough spirits, and there's no menace in her words, or disdain. Quite the opposite. "You surprised me. You shan't, again," she assures. And she moves in, to begin the fight.

<COMBAT> Stephen has been KO'd!

This time, it is Talia that has the upper hand against Stephen, hitting him with a strike to the chest, and another follow-up to his neck that staggers him enough that her third blow sends him down. And once he picks himself up, they both get a few minutes of rest before the truly final match begins, which Stephen mostly spends stretching, and rolling his neck and shoulders a bit to loosen up. And then they're facing each other once more. "One more time, Your Excellency. Well fought, all around."

The match between Talia and Esyld is watched with interest, since the winner would face Stephen. Emilia certainly not feeling bad in the least for having been the first person he put into the dirt. A nod going to the messenger her sister sends along. A small request or two being made. There would likely be time spent with a healer for some oils soon enough. But for now, those dark eyes turn back to watching the match between Talia and Stephen. Solid hits being exchanged, but it seems the pair are even at the end of it. Delaying that full retreat to watch how their final round will turn out.

"One more time," conceeds Talia. Whatever the outcome, Stephen has impressed the Viscountess, and she nods to him with respect, and determination that she will win. It's in her eyes, that confidence. And it's doubtful such can be so easily shaken.

For her part, Raelyn could not be prouder for Stephen making it this far in the event, but she does not seem a fan of having both her sister, and her husband lose to Talia, and she cheers Stephen on for his last opportunity to win here.

Applauding loudly for his leige, Gastogne lets out a soft whoop then over at the victory of Talia, that is probably not noticed over then as he gives a quick bow to her, and then over to Stephen then, otherwise rubbing at his head then as he looks over at the rest of his friends.

Odilia cheers when Talia sends the Cassomir into the dirt. A win won't change the cookies that will be due nor the added training, but it will at least improve her Countesses mood! "And how much coin did you put on the outcomme of this event?" Casually asking Gastogne, given his love of lossing money…er…betting.

Gastogne laughs quietly over at Odilia, "Enough for a meal at best." He still remembers the last time he got into somewhat heavy of a bet with Philippe then in the last year in a tournament.

Well, at the very least, it was a representative of Lonnaire who had taken home the bareknuckle. Jon isn't surprised by Talia's victory, not by any means, but he is pleased. His applause is subdued, but it's genuine, and loud enough to be heard. And then he's off into the crowd, perhaps to find Alexandra. The better to lick their wounds together, if nothing else.

It's a closely-fought, if brief match. Stephen lands a powerful opening strike, and a still-solid follow-up just a moment later, but between the fatigue of the ensuing matches and the two solid strikes that Talia lands, it's once again Stephen that ends up going down to a knee, and this time lifting his hand in a gesture of yielding.

"And there you have it, good people!" An Announcer bellows out, "The Winner of the Ostvor Bareknuckle competition is the Viscountess Talia t'Corbeau of Three Rivers! Let's have a cheer for all our fighters, but especially our lovely winner!"

Odilia just shakes her head with a chuckle at Gastogne's response. The bastard giving a cheer and whoop as Talia is victorious!

Gastogne joins over with a whoop and a cheer as well for Talia then, a little louder then in relaxation.

Emilia does watch the quick exchange of the heavy hitting blows, knowing to well just how they feel. And the hits to the hand! A bit of a one handed clapped given politely. Linger a bit longer in order to depart with her good-brother,"You fought of well, very tough of opponents." And on to the healer, and Raelyn's fretting!

Philippe applauds as Talia's name is announced. He does manage a somewhat raspy cheer as well, though the voice does seem to be recovering with each use. Still…better that he doesn't have to sing tonight, though, with enough ales in him, he will sing anything.

The exchange of blows that follows is one of skill, that cannot be contested. She offers, in good sportsmanship, Stephen her hand to help him rise, again, conceeding, "An honor to fight you, Your Excellency." She curves a smile at him, and inclines her head in acknowledgement. Then, she takes her leave to incline her head to the box as she is announced and takes the moment to pay proper respect in brief before seeking to thoroughly enjoy that win. She is certainly pleased. Her eyes wander to Odilia, however, and those with her. She smiles, briefly to the gathering before moving over towards them.

Then glancing over to Philippe to make sure he's okay, Gastogne moves over to rub at his neck to try and get some of the kinks out, giving a quick bow to Philippe and letting Talia indicate whether seh wishes him to remain present or be dismissed then, going to a formal bow and twisting to the side.
