Tournament Grounds - Ostvor - Couviere

Immediately off the heavy stone gates over to the Imperial Lands, nestled inside the inner Gatehouse level visible on all sides, are the tournament grounds of Ostvor. One of the rare (if not the only) large unopened expanse of the city then made up of tightly packed stones then with softer rocks atop them it has been established as a tournament ground. About the size of a large sports field built upon a foundation of stone, there are several divided sections of the stand for the varying countries from the Edge that have sent representatives to the tournament or visitors, appropriately divided by nobility. The native nobles have higher seats as well as the rulers of Couviere. There are smaller sections for commoners lower. The seats are built out of wood and many of them even have small cushions atop them, and a large tarp can be quickly unwheeled over the stands to give some protection from inclement weather. The various sections of the stands have the flags and heraldry of their cities and countries set beneath them. Underneath the stands are vendors selling food and small souvenirs.

The tournament grounds have two stalls setup for those who are competing to enter and leave, and otherwise for those who are giving support to the competitors to be arrayed in - healers, squires, footmen, or others who need to be immediately on hand. A small section is set aside for judges. The area where the actual tournament is to take place in faces the Imperial Gates, and is stone that has had heavy layers of straw and dirt and smaller rocks put atop it to soften it, and the competition grounds are designed so they can be switched around quickly with platforms and equipment depending on what competition is being held.

The crowds are again teeming at the Ostvor Tourney Grounds, and have been all day, as the multitudes of Knights that have come to take part in the Jousts have been at it most of the day, all vying to score a place in the bracketed joust. However, many of the poor Hedge Knights and lesser-known combatants end up falling by the wayside, and as the evening draws near, many of the most elite knights are coming around for another segment of preliminary jousts. There's no real official "start" as the event has basically been going on all day…it's just a matter of clearing the field for the next batch to come in and begin their passes on the several areas set aside as jousting fields…it's something that's been going all day, and various members of the Ducal family and their guests have been coming and going from the Ducal box all day, though the Archduke did start things off this morning, and appears to have returned for the evening's final set of preliminary jousts, possibly because there are a great many interesting competitors within it. So for now he watches from above with mild interest, but has no active role in the proceedings.

And the field finally clears after the preceding group of jousters concludes their passes, leaving the new batch to take their place and prepare to (hopefully) score some points!

Getting settled in his mount, with his armor buckled then and taking a few deep breaths, Clarke t'Cauthone looks over the first round of matches then and in a relaxed breath.. Then, saluting, and then seeing who he's up against in the first pass, and lets out a groan and a good natured "Oh bloody oath.." This is going to be an interesting exchange, that he does nto expect to do quite well as then as he grunts in his saddle, steeling himself to face The Unbroken, as he sets up given as formal and ramrod straight a salute with himself as he can as he gets set.

Joffrey t'Synclarre offers his salute to Clarke t'Cauthone, grinning slightly, "Language, Sir Clarke." He chides the Cavalier lightly, before his expression grows more serious, "The One grant us all safe exchanges. Good luck to you!" And with a nod, he reaches down to accept his lance after closing his visor, and readies for the charge.

Thaddeus sits astride his mount, next to his squire. His tourney plate has been polished to a shine, his lion helm having also been given a similar treatment. A blue garter on his right arm serves as a favor. "Gawain, do what you need to." WIth that, he joins the lists and readies to charge at the signal.

Decked out in his suit of full plate that has served him so well over the years, Gabriel l'Saigner eyes the other competitors in the prelims with an appraising eye before setting his eyes on Leander. The Giraldi knight would be a challenge and it would take everything he had to try to knock the man out of the saddle. With a sigh, he closes his visor and accepts his lance, and readies his first charge.

Darren Haldis grins as he approaches the field, giving a salute towards the stands and the box and then towards his opponent, who happens to be his half-brother, Raimond Giraldi. "Well, now we'll see how much you've learned in the last year or so. Hopefully not quite enough."

Raimond smirks after rendering his own courtesies, shaking his head slightly, "I feel obligated to remind you that if I lose horribly, it would only be a reflection upon the teacher I've had these past several months…"

That earns a bellow laugh from Darren, before he lowers his visor, "That silver tongue of yours won't save you now, little brother, let's go!"

Jonathan t'Maren has been here all day, of course, but he'd been off the field for some time, and is only just now getting himself settled back onto his warhorse and ready to go. The joust isn't quite his finest event, though he's as good as anyone, but he does enjoy the somewhat more orderly, deliberate pacing compared to the frenzy of the melee events. And so he takes his time as he enters the lists, letting his eyes wander the stands to where the Archduke sits, until he faces his first opponent. Who is… none other than the Lord Marshal of Rivana. Again. Oh boy. "Best of luck, Sir Thaddeus," he says, lowering his helm into place and readying himself to charge.

Evelyn l'Faust is looking quite sober knowing who her first opponent is, but she is ready, and determined, nonetheless. She looks out at the crowd, noting those who are her fans, or at least, are cheering for her to do well as the 'hometown girl'. But her attention drifts back to Michael, quickly enough, and she calls to him, "May you ride well, Sir. But do not forget how well I rode in war," she says, with a faint smile that shows her good natured claim against a man she greatly respects. Her own armor gleams, freshly polished, and she shifts in her saddle, ready for the tilt.

Michael l'Corren gives Evelyn the smile of a fairly familiar friend, and renders his proper salutes, "Looks like they're not starting me off easy this go-round. Good Luck, Sir Evelyn. I'm going to make sure you need it!"

Steady up on her horse, Alexandra t'Maren hovers at the egde of the group, breathing deeply the smell of the track and all that comes with it. This sort of thing is what excites her, truly; none of that needlepoint crap they tried to push on her in her youth. With her husband in view again, she decides to risk being social openly and has her horse trot on over, stopping a few feet to the side opposite of where Jonathan is greeting Thaddeus. "May the best knight win, eh?" It's friendly, of course.

Quentyn Bazan grins brightly across to his opponent, "Well, looks like I get a chance to test you again, Liam. Everyone knows you're a hundred times the squire I ever was for Jaren. Let's see you prove it!" There's no bitterness in the chiding, though, only the humor of an elder knight and mentor of sorts who happened to squire for the same person as Liam under very different circumstances.

The t'Tremaine Heir was also about the Tourney Grounds throughout the day as the jousts interesting him quite a bit, even if they may be Hedge Knights or Tourney Knights that are just starting out. Always good to keep an eye out for any prospects, not just as possible future opponents but prospects that may be hired. When it grows late though, Elrick goes to prepare for his own preliminaries, even if it is not the main event, one must still put on a good show for the spectators. After kitting himself up properly in full plate, Elrick mounts Havok with his squire's assistance and then trots the charger towards the tourney field. His first opponent is someone he doesn't recognize, a southern squire named Gawain apparently. Taking the tourney lance from his squire, he maneuvers into position, studying the young lad across from him.

Emilia has spent much of the day within the stands, cheering (well clapping rather stocially) for various knights that were connected to her family, or their squires in some cases. Having left a few times when there not those for her to support or a need for some tournament snack. But she was returned with the upcoming brackets having her brother, the other brother's squire..and well a few others that would get some from of enthisiastic-ish clapping.

Even after a day in the stands, Amara is full of energy at watching the knights go through the matches. The young woman having occasionally grimanced or winced at rather rough hits that gott taken. Tugging on the arm of th eperson next to her,"He's going to be competing soon!" Which causes the person to roll their eyes. Especially wieh Amara points out a certain Rivanian knight who may…may be wearing her favor. Amara also searching teh field to where her brother is setting for his match.

Clarke lets out a quiet chuckle then over at the words from Joffrey, "Aye Great Lord." He salutes then once more. "May honor gird us. Good luck to you!" He finishes his salute then, locks down and readies for the charge to be exchanged at the signal, bracing in his sadle

Gawain Rosendal gulps almost audibly but answers Thaddeus as enthusiastically as he can muster, "Yes Sir!" He then moves to his starting position, clearly familiar enough with the routine as he gives his proper salutes and takes up shield and lance. He doesn't have high hopes…Sir Elrick is known to be a fierce competitor on the Tourney Scene, but he won't let Thaddeus down if he can help it! "Well met, Sir. The One grant us a safe match." Well, maybe a little more for him, since he likely needs it more. But Gawain doesn't voice that part, instead lowering his visor and preparing to charge.

Devlin Cassomir gives his own courtesies to crowd, host, and opponent, offering a friendly smile towards Alexandra t'Maren, "Well met, Sir. I believe you've bested me on these fields a few times before. I hope you won't take offense if I try to turn the tables this time." He lowers his own visor and takes up his lance, preparing to charge.

Sitting in the seats next to her sister, Raelyn is watching with quiet curiousity, having made certain that from the other evening her sister is, indeed, well and overall uninjured. She mentions, then, "Let us pray that one of them at least places well. I do not think Tiadora would suffer it well if our brother does not have some luck fall to his side." This last more humored, than anything serious. She smiles, then, and though he likely can't see, she smiles towards Devlin, and says a quiet, unspoken quick prayer to The One.

For Sir Clarke t'Cauthone, the exchange goes about as well as he was expecting. Perhaps even better. But still, as the lances thrust over and are traded then in horseback, and he takes the hard slog up the gut then, the first pass ending wiht him clearl shorn off his horse and hitting flat and hard, dislodged and hitting the dirt before slowly recovering in a slight wince.

Emilia was not overly injured, but she had certainly collected a fair amount of bruises, even if the worst of them were from her good brother. She gives a nod to her sister,"Or if they of do place of well, she is simply going to find it as of proof that she is being their jinx. We win and of lose at the same of time either of way, I am of fearing." A few silent words offered up to The One as well. Her dark eyes tracking to where her brother Devlin jousts, even if there are a couple other Rivana Knights and a squire she tries to also keep track of. "The competition is quite of something, as of expected." Given the tournament prize.

Gabriel kicks his mount into motion, lance aimed at Leander. The first two passes are uneventful as neither man manages to score a hit on one another. The third pass finally sees Gabriel score a hit and he's still able to move out of the way of Leander's lance. A single point but he'll take it. It was better than getting zero points. Giving Leander a salute, the l'Saigner knight makes his way back to his spot to collect a new lance and ready himself for the next competitor.

Thaddeus joins the fray at the signal, his first hit landing an acceptable blow, while his second fails, and the third accomplishing little, but enough to count. Fortunately, Jonathan is unable to land a solid hit on him. Behind his visor, the Greycen sighs in relief. With that, he salutes his opponent, "Best of luck to you, sir." Thad then grabs a fresh lance from a servant and laughs at the news of Gawain landing a good hit, "Well done, lad. Well done." On that, he rejoins the lists to face his next opponent, Raimond, which he salutes.

Amilia blinks…and then blinks again. Did her brother just get beat by a squire? A SQUIRE?!?! Her mouth just hangs open at that. It is enough for her to have missed much of Leader's passes. Even if he was facing the 'Untouchabe' Red Knight. And faired well.

Saluting the crowd that may be watching him, Elrick turns his gaze back to the young squire and offers the youth a nod, apparently a bit more lenient in attitude when it comes to Rivanians that aren't knights or hold the Haldis name. After the simple greeting on his part, the t'Tremaine slips on his helm and pulls down his visor. Once the signal is given, his war horse charges down the tilt, all of this too familiar to Elrick. The first pass results in a technical hit from the t'Tremaine and a good blow by the squire, causing the northern knight to frown. The second pass results in glancing blows for both but it is the third pass where the results are… astounding. Elrick manages to place a skilled blow on the squire's left arm, resulting in a broken lance but it is Gawain who takes the tilt with a shattering blow to the knight's midsection. It may only be a testament to the north knight's riding skills that he stayed ahorse, the broken lance dropped so that the freed hand can also grasp onto the pommel of the saddle. He was slipping but manages to hold on at the end, getting his charger back under control. Only then does slowly remove his helm, an emotionless expression directed at Gawain, words finally parted from his lips, "I expect to see you in the main joust, Gawain. Do not lose until we meet in the brackets."

Evelyn rides, and rides hard, and well against Michael. She does not take the Knight any more lightly than he takes her; but, she is unable to land a single hit on the more experienced and season Knight, despite her own skills. She tries not to let her own disappointment in herself show. The Jousts have been hit and miss for her in the Tourneys, and she - just like every Knight here, needs as many points as she can to win that vetted blade as the final prize. She nods to the man, though, "You are the better, this time, Sir Michael. But do not think, should we meet again, you shall have it so easy." Still, she smiles. "Continue to ride well." Then she is moving her horse to find her next opponent.

Jonathan's first bout, with Thaddeus, went… well, not terribly well. It's not as though the Southerner managed to hit him especially /hard/, but the Rivanan landed a couple of solid hits, while Jon had to be content with a trio of near-misses. The man rode well, and that was enough to get a respectful nod. "Likewise, Sir," he replies, before turning about for the next round. Against… a squire. Nothing of consequence, usually, but this particular squire just unhorsed a knight, and a good one in Elrick t'Tremaine. Enough to give the man pause, at least.

Alexandra has a solid showing in the first round. She didn't anticipate she'd break a lance so early, especially after she had two solid, not-splitting hits on the first try. On the third, though, she did manage to shatter it against Devlin, recovering herself from a light hit of his. Trying not to look too smug, she heads off, waiting for her next turn against Quentyn.

Devlin gives his salute to Alexandra, "Well-ridden, Sir." At least it wasn't a complete embarassment, and then he's off to face his next opponent, none other than Duke Darren Haldis, whom he grins a bit at as he salutes, "This is probably going to hurt, isn't it?" He calls out to the other man, clearly in good humor about it.

Darren Haldis laughs as the final pass concludes, and salutes, Raimond, "Well, it wasn't an unhorsing, but you beat me. I suppose neither of us get to be TOO embarrassed." He gives Raimond a clap on the shoulder as he moves to face Devlin Cassomir, "Probably. For one of us. But I just watched a Haldis squire outscore one of Couviere's best, so clearly there's a chance for an upset." And with that, he prepares to charge.

Gawain Rosendal looks pretty ecstatic at his fine showing against Elrick, though he does make sure to offer the proper salute and "Well ridden, Sir, I thank you for the opportunity to test myself against you." Before he moves off to…face an even more forbidding-looking knight of Couviere. His smile does dim to merely polite as he renders courtesies to his new opponent, "Well met, Sir. I hope I will prove a worthy opponent." And then he's gritting his teeth and readying himself for the next charge.

Quentyn grins once more, "Well done, Liam. Now go win one against your next." He claps the young man's shoulder then moves to face Alexandra t'Maren, giving her one of his trademark charming smiles, "Well met indeed, Sir."

up in the stands on the Rivanan side, Dawn Bazan gives a quiet cheer and a happy nod over at her son, leaning back to watch and turnin her attention over to him as he readies for his next excange.

Getting up and then ready to his saddle once more, Clarke t'Cauthone takes a breath and lets out a sorry groan, then heading over to get up and reay for his next exchange, an amused but lightly pained look on his face then. He has to do better this round!

Raimond Giraldi grins at Darren, but remains silent (almost uncharacteristic for him!) as he moves to square off against Thaddeus Greycen, giving the man a salute and a bit of a humored smile, "All I ask is that you watch the head! Hopefully not on the end of your Lance." See? We can all laugh about it now. But he renders a sharp salute, and readies himself for the charge.

Trotting his charger off to the side, Elrick dismounts and has his squire look over his armor with him to ensure that everything is still snuggly secured, even if tourney lances are used, they can still cause damage if the riders are not properly protected. Only when the scrutiny is completed and the t'Tremaine resets himself mentally does he mount Havok again. Then Joseph hands his knight another tourney lance, offering words of encouragement which are not responded to as he rides to meet his next opponent. Leander Giraldi. Elrick is certainly not in a good mood but he still goes through the proper protocols by greeting the crowd before looking across to his opponent. Helm is slipped on and visor lowered, then they are off. The exchanges are much less eventful than what he had with the squire, and it appears the t'Tremaine is not at his best in this prelim, scoring no technical points against Leander with one scored upon him.

Charging in after saluting his opponent, Clarke t'Cauthone gets a solid shot over to the head then and is shot right out of the saddle then. Letting out a WHOOMPH as the lance solidly connects with his head and for the second straight exchange he hits the dirt hard, he just stares up and over at the overhead skyline for a moment, stars in his eyes then. "Bloody hell man. Keep your eyes on your opponent, not the stands." A reproach to himself as he gets up then, giving a strong salute over to Liam then in passing.

Amara's hands wring a little in her lap when she see's that Elrick and Leander are facing each other in this next round. She is relived that it is a mostly uneventful match by and large. No serious lance strikes. But it seems that maybe that favour brought some luck with Leander managing the one point of the exchange.

Evelyn nods to Joffrey, another one of her friends earned, and prized from the war. "Sir," she greets him with a fond tone to her tone. "I will not lose twice, I am afraid," she promises him. "But may you ride well, just the same," she well-wishes. She spurns her horse forward as the tilt begins, and is pleased with her efforts. She nods, in respect to Joffrey. That was not an easy win. "Honored to ride against you," she says, sincerely. There's little further time to speak more, before she's moving to the next seating tilt.

Emilia does give a faint blink in seeing how Gawain's match turned out,"Sir of Thaddeus will be of knighting him before long, if he is keeping that up." Though she is soon turning her attention to Devlin's next match. "This will be of interesting." A few more quiet words just may get offered up to the One. And maybe there were heard even! Her brother didn't get beaten up by the Duke! "That was being more of even that I was of expecting,"she admits to her sister.

And this time, Alexandra gets away without being touched by a lance. This is pretty great, and she's grinning broadly about it until she sees Clark hit the dirt. Again. Wincing, she looks over to make sure he's not dead. Good thing, too, since he's her opponent next round.

And it seems that this southern squire has matched another northern Knight shot for shot. On one level, Jonathan is gracious, showing respect to a surprisingly fierce competitor. And at least he did manage to pick up a couple of points. On the other hand, well, if he was going to have an easy opportunity to score, this would have been it. He's up against yet another Rivanan, this one a full knight. Leander Giraldi. "Best of luck, Sir," he greets him.

Gabriel's next opponent happens to be his brother. Offering Michael a wave, he then readies his horse and charges when the signal is given though the first pass ends up being uneventful. On the second pass, Gabriel breaks his lance against his brother's chest. He rides past and reaches the end, grabbing another lance from a squire. Turning, he charges again and on the third and last pass ends up breaking his lance once again on his brother's chest. Pleased at scoring a few points, he gives his brother a salute and then readies against his next tilt against Evelyn, getting in a drink of water and a new lance in the brief intermission.

Getting up and over then, trying to stand then Clarke t'Cauthone's eyes go blurry then. He takes a wheeze then. But two hard hits then on him and single unhorsings then have him flat down and slowly, slowly heading along then to the side as he shakes his head, "I think I'm out." He moves along slowly, holding at his side then as he tries to very, very hard avoid emptying his stomach as he moves towards one of the healer pits.

Thad again has a few uneventful passes, though he fortunately avoids taking any damage. Again, Gawain also performs well. Thad Is not horribly pleased with his own preformance, but is glad that his squire is doing so well. "I wish you good luck, Sir Raimond. Ride well." With that, he readies for the next round, giving a salute to Devlin.

<COMBAT> Thaddeus has been KO'd!

Oh hell. Why did his best match have to be against a friend? That seems just Devlin's luck, as he moves to make sure Thaddeus gets up under his own power after two lance-breaking strikes. "Well ridden, Sir Thaddeus. Sorry I rung your bell like that."

Water dumped over his head, heaving out the contents of his stomach, Clarke t'Cauthone goes to quickly yank a rag over his face then until he can see again, then he goes to take a quick breath then, giving a quick wave then and a heavy breath to solidify his stomach, moving over once again then. He'll compete and continue if only due to his stubborness and feeling like he -has- to do better, if only for his own pride.

It's not a particularly /eventful/ matchup between Jonathan and Leander. The t'Maren knight's own lance misses wide one, two, three times. His opponent isn't much more successful, but he does manage one somewhat painful hit to the hand. Enough to make him the winner of the tilt, to the extent that that matters in the preliminaries. Jonathan's frustration is palpable as he re-enters the lists to face his final opponent of the day. Michael l'Corren. Well then.

From Darren to Thaddeus? Emilia looks over to Raelyn,"I think Devlin picked of the short of straw for this series?" ASking it a bit deadpanedly. Though it does seem it is the squires that are the ones to watch out for! But as the passes are made, Emilia does have to say,"Perhaps it was of Sir of Thaddeus who drew of the shorts straw." Her clapping for Devlin is slightly subdued, until Thaddeus is getting up after that unhorsing. Ouch! "Tiadora is going to declare of this proof that she should not of attend."

Joffrey seems to have slowed down a bit after his first match, having fallen behind against both Evelyn (not too surprising) and now, to the Squire of the Rivanan King. Still, Joffrey offers a warm smile and a salute to the Squire, "Well ridden, Young Squire. You do your Knight and King proud." And then he's off to face his most daunting opponent of the night…his goodbrother Sir Gabriel. Suffice to say a great many eyes in the crowd are on this particular matchup…to say the least.

Thad is rather upset at himself as the first pass does nothing, but the second round's lance landing squarely on hsi head nearly knocks Thad from his horse. On the third, the Greycen tries to hold on when he falls to the ground with a thud. Rising to his feet, he scowls and nods to Devlin, "Good luck to you, as well." With that, he gets back on his horse and readies for his next bout.

One friend after another. One hard, hard tilt, after another. Evelyn nods to Gabriel, "Let us see, Sir Gabriel, what you have. It shall be an honor." She knows he's, perhaps, the hardest to beat in this particular event. And the favorite in the Tourney, altogether if the people had anything to say about it. But she proves ever the capable rider, herself, the tilts between she and him skilled on each side, so much so that neither is able to score a point off the other.

Gabriel salutes Evelyn and then rides forth. Each pass goes by quickly, his lance unable to score any points but on the bright side, he's not given her any chance to score any points of her own. Perhaps a boring match for the people in the stands, but he's pleased by his performance. After the third pass, he moves his horse alongside hers and nods. "Well ridden. Hopefully you can knock off your next opponent." He flashes a smile and then rides back to his spot to get ready to face Joffrey.

Yet another uneventful performance by Elrick as his blunted lance finds neither a solid hit or even contact on the second and third passes, scoring no points yet again against two opponents in a row. His opponent this time was his formidable cousin but that does nothing to sooth the t'Tremaine frustrations, obviously feeling the blows directly against his pride as a knight. However, he does bow his head respectfully to Michael for that point he claimed in their last pass before riding off this his squire for a quick visual inspection, helm removed and his eyes closed for a few long moments.

Amara watches the almost mundane match between Leander and Jonathan, but then Leander is winning on points. And Amara is cheering. Which earns her a few looks. It would have been more, except with so many tilts being run they she could have been easily cheering for one of the other hits that occured in the moment. Though quite not her brother's tilts. It just wasn't his day. Frowning before she starts chewing on her lip.

Raimond Giraldi outscores Thaddeus Greycen's squire, ending his streak of ties-or-better, and then…."Well, looks like I start with one brother and finish with the last." Raimond smiles warmly to his younger brother as he salutes. "How've you been scoring?" He moves to the starting position, seeming rather relaxed as he takes up his lance for his final set of passes of the night. "At least mother will be happy regardless of the outcome, I suppose." He jokes, and then lowers his visor, "Good luck little brother!" And then they're off!

Emilia does watch the match between Devlin and Gawain with the same stoic interest as the others. Especially with the squire having been performing so well. Her head shifts to a slight cant as they do both strike true on that first pass. Though Devlin managing to hit Gawain tilting right of his horse. "He seems to have found of his stride with this of event." And Tiadora is never going to come to another event now! "Hopefully Lord of Gawain is of ok."

Gabriel closes his visor and charges forward, lance coming down and pointed at Joffrey. The first pass goes by uneventfully. He turns and charges again. This time Joffrey manages to break his lance against his right hand. Wincing and grunting in pain, Gabriel grits his teeth and tries to hit Joffrey but is unable to. The third pass comes, and with another grunt, Gabriel powers his lance right into his goodbrother's chest, shattering it into pieces. He slows and turns, nodding as he sees Joffrey still up on his horse. Saluting Joffrey, he calls out, "Well ridden and well struck on that second pass." Giving a little wave, he rides back to get water and go see Alina.

Joffrey salutes Gabriel back, "And even more well struck on the third by you. But it's an honor and a pleasure, as always, Sir Gabriel." And then he's off to likely go find his own wife among the noble stands.

"You know…." Raimond says somewhat weakly, lying on his back on the ground, "When I said mother would be pleased no matter what…I don't think I anticipated you actually trying to kill me, Leander."

He managed to stand up for the exchange and didn't go off his horse. For Clarke t'Cauthone, that's a victory. But, as he moves to try and slide off his horse then, the repeated blows and well met exchanges from tourney lances to his body and head overwhelm him, and he slumps over to the side then and falls to sprawl on his hands and knees. A wobbled signal to some of hte healers on the sidelines as he passes out has him being carted off then to be tended to.

Releasing a long sigh, Elrick pulls his mind back to the present and manevuers his charger back towards the tilts for his next opponent, this time a good friend and comrade in arms, Evelyn. Once more he greets the crowd and then offers the home town favorite a salute before slipping on his helm. The t'Tremaine finally improves on his performance, the first exchange results in a fine blow against the l'Faust, causing his tourney lance to break. Once his squire, Joseph, offers him a new lance, Elrick is off again. The following two passes results in technical strikes, not particularly painful or damaging but points nonetheless. Once their passes are complete with neither competitors unhorsed, the t'Tremaine Heir bows his head to Evelyn.

"Damn fine job staying in the saddle after the hits you've taken, Sir." Darren Haldis is not even begrudging in his respect at that, but when Clarke falls off his horse, he's got the shout for Healers halfway done before they're already moving to attend them. He salutes Clarke despite his position, and then moves off to see Raimond and Leander, looking down at the former from his horse with an amused expression. "You wished him luck didn't you? Never wish a man with a maiden's favor luck, Raimond. Even if he's your brother."

And thus ends an altogether forgettable night of preliminaries for Jonathan t'Maren. It's a remarkable show of horsemanship for both him and the l'Corren knight, but it ends without a solid hit on either. Still, he gives the man a crisp salute, bowing his head as he turns away from the lists. He wasn't hurt badly, at least, and that's a victory of a sort.

At that, Darren looks up and gives Leander a mirthful wink.

She wasn't expecting to hit literally nothing two rounds in a row, but that was the case for poor Alexandra. Sighing, she shakes her head, wishing Liam well and heading off to the stables. Good thing it's a preliminary.

Evelyn faces off against Elrick who proves to have her number, and after scoring several points off her, and she none off him, the l'Faust Lady is frustrated with herself to some small degree, but she gives Elrick his due, the man is formidable and she has no remorse for having been bested by him. "I wish you well in the finals, Sir Elrick. Perhaps you shall join me for an ale, after? Blaze would like to see Grim, I'm certain. If you've brought him."

Amara's attention bounces back and forth between two matches. One ends with grand fanfare and gets a cheer. But that other one, has her a bit worried. Elrick is just not going to be in a good mood!

At the kind words and invitation from Evelyn, Elrick inclines his head, a bit stiffly either from the blows he took earlier or just not feeling especially relaxed right now, "Thank you, Sir Evelyn, I will gladly accept your invitation though I'm afraid today would not be the best day. Perhaps after the duels tomorrow or the day after, and I will certainly bring Grim along. I usually do not have him travel with me to these events but since we would be visiting you and your home, I thought this would be an unique opportunity."
