The scrub and woodlands of Savora Highlands is quiet.

A fair ride from the main city where Viscount t'Rannis and his family make their home the main encampment of the Abara lay.

Knights are not good at sneaking, so the joint leadership of the future Duke and his bastard goodbrother led to the conclusion that they shouldn't try to be. The knights (and those like them) would attack the encampment head on, while the Wraiths and their ilk snuck into the heart of the camp to capture (if possible) or kill (if necessary) their leader.

The number of men and women at Gabriel's command was not a small one. Many houses had sent troops to help roust out these so-called "bandits"…. though many of them seemed less than pleased to be working under Gabriel's command. Beside the t'Maren (and a few knights from outside the duchy), most of those under Gabriel's command aren't knights. They are fighters, surely, but less diciplined and more prone to distrust of those who have their spurs… They follow his lead. Mostly. Technically. All right, perhaps not as well as he might like.

The Wraiths and those vaguely akin to them that follow Corvin's lead do so with considerable less bickering and questioning. In fact, as the Wraiths go, they follow him without hesistation or question.

The encampment is just up ahead.

Conrad has come east for the Masque. He had not expected to fight on this trip, but he had fortunately brought his gear regardless. He had not fought under Gabriel before, but if he is anyhing like his brother, it should be fine. "Well, let's deal with them quickly enough," Conrad says. The Ostvorian knight looks to his sword and then to his sister and her husband, "Ready for this? Hopefully it'll be a good one."

Artos had also come down for the feast, but was a bit sullen, not out of the ordinary. He is probably the oldest knight here, or at least contending for the spot. A bastard sword rests in his hands as he gives a silent prayer before the fight.

With her normally blonde hair darkned for this particular outing, Odilia had a outwards cover and persona to yet protect. Not a Wraith but she was dressed like them and had endured (and surivived) the same turn of training. And most importantly, she was quite happy to follow where ever Corvin directed their shadowy group. Poised with her simple daggers at the ready, Odilia picked out a target awaiting that order to pounce.

"All right, fan out and try to surround the encampment, make sure none can escape. We stop them here and now." Gabriel slams down his visor and puts his shield on before drawing out his sidhe short sword. "We stop them here and now, but do try to keep a few alive if you can. On my signal, begin the attack." He begins stepping forward, others around him doing the same. When he gets to his mark he calls out, "For l'Saigner and Couviere, cut these bastards down!" Gabriel begins charging forward, already having picked out a man to take on.

He had followed the Red Knight into combat before. He would do so again. But the battle would undoubtly have a brutality to it that he himself had not faced in years. So with a grim face on, in armor, heading along with the rest, the Blue Chevalier Sir Clarke t'Cauthone marched. Ready for the fight then and what would come on ahead. Grimly aware that some of them would not be coming back, and quite possibly him among them. But he would do his duty the sae as any other. But it was with a stony and grim face that Sir Clarke went along, forming ranks with the others, shield up and sword out as they went in for an attack. And as they go in on the attack, he calls out, "For the Duke!" And steels his blade in as he goes in formation for a charge!

One of the few dyed-in-the-wool /knights/ here is Jonathan t'Maren, and he at least is here to follow Sir Gabriel's lead. Dressed in half plate, a simple but particularly well-made sword at his side, he scans the horizon with his eyes narrowed, his movements slow and deliberate. Glancing over to the rest of the t'Maren contingent - his wife, his cousin, his half-sister - he gives a little nod and lowers his helmet into place as he charges alongside Gabriel.

Esyld's not much one for bickering or questioning. Alright, that's entirely untrue. But when it comes to Gabriel, she follows as diligently as any of those fancy sorts with spurs, and expects those in her company to do the same. Those outwith the ranks who venture to voice dissent? She eyes with palpable dislike.

She stays, unthinkingly, protectively close to her lady's husband; in formation with Sir Vorian and his mercenaries, just another faceless body marching along in sturdy leathers, distinguishable perhaps only for the dark bastard sword she carries. There's no better place to be than shoulder to shoulder with loyal and tested fighters, after all. The banter and masculine joviality has quieted down by now, of course, as they approach the encampment.. faces have turned grim and impassive as each of them settle their minds to the task ahead. With the enemy in view and a last glance aside toward Vorian, Esyld picks up the pace without hesitation, following Gabriel into the fray.

With the Knights moving in to draw out the heavier forces from the Bandit Camp, Corvin Fremont moves through the woods that surround thee camp itself, camouflaged with face paint and bits of foliage fastened at various irregular points around their combat leathers. They reach the pre-planned position, with many of them readying bows while others prepare close-combat weapons. Corvin gives the signal, the strike already planned: Archers to remove archers then move in…skirmishers to rush in and engage close-in.

Looking back to her brother when he speaks, Alexandra t'Maren presses her lips together into a thin, pale line. She nods. "It'll be one hell of a story," she offers, mustering a grin for her elder sibling before taking a long look around again at their group. She's heard of worse, at any rate, flustered she can't look in multiple places at once. But there's the rally from Gabriel, and beside her she can see her husband mimic his leader with his helmet and so she does, too. Her hair's tucked away beneath her armor to make it more difficult to grab her and, despite the slighter frame, in armor she could be just like any of the rest of them. And that's what she tells herself, for good or ill, as her stalk turns into a charge.

Lucas follows his Commander quietly, dressed to blend with his surroundings and a goodly number of small blades tucked into his leathers should the need arise. Closing on the camp, Lucas hides in the shadow of a tent and slips his curved bladed dagger 'Whisper' from its sheath. The black Sidhe steel glints darkly before he turns it in a reverse grip and waits for the order to strike. Never one comfortable with killing, today Lucas finds an exception, the Abara were, it's said, monsters, but skilled ones. So he found his resolve bolstered by the twin desires of testing his skills against the Abara and wiping them out.

While Talia was not a wraith herself, she has trained many of them, and trained with them, including Corvin. So it is with his group that the Viscountess moves, silently, the dark combat leathers obscuring her features as she follows Corvin and the others of her group. She waits, until Corvin gives the signal before moving forwards, to begin taking out their numbers from the back, as planned.

Well. This is not starting well. While arrows fly, and several of the encamped bandits do indeed fall, including the one Corvin had been aiming at, with arrows striking deep into his chest and then another to his eye. But the Abara assassins move in swiftly, and one comes lunging at Corvin with a rapier, just outof his field of vision, and while his first strike is mostly just a scratch, the second drives deep into his chest, causing a hiss of pain. Corvin drops his bow, and quickly draws his own rapier, lashing out at the assassin that attacked him.

The Abara were good. The archer ducked at the last second and one of the assassins joined in with a flurry of blows. They left Lucas bloody but standing. Lucas shifts focus, flipping his dagger into a forward grip and chasing after the Assassin through the press of bodies in the camp.

Bloody Oath. The combat is as brutal as any as the knights charge into the midst of combat. Going to try and protect the future Duke, Clarke t'Cauthone is the target of multiple adversaries as he grits his teeth, smashed back by a hard blow. He quickly tries to sweep through, even as his armor clanked and he stumbled as arrows, blade, and warhammer met him. Setting his eyes over on another of the hired killers, he went to grit his teeth. No honorable warfare this, just brutal back and forth. Going in for the attack, he went to launch himself over at one of the killers, blade arcing up and over to try and defend the flank of the future Duke, standing up even as he bled. Not screaming, not cursing, just breathing. In and out, in and out. Forcing his lungs to retain air. Listening for orders and hearing screams. Going to slash in on the attack as it turned into brutal close quarters.

Gabriel lashes out at his opponent, his blade leaving a mark. Moving to the side, he lashes out again, scoring another hit, and noticing out of the corner of his eyes one of the other bandits falling to a Couvieri blade, not quite able to tell who did the felling blow. He continues to circle, waiting for a possible opening, while trying to minimize any openings he offers in return.

The initial clash is, as always, brutal and dizzying. Not straying far from Gabriel, Esyld promptly finds herself fending off two of the enemy's number, gritting her teeth and enduring a few solid strikes before returning the favor. A splitsecond later and Vorian's there at her shoulder, dealing an almighty blow to one of the offenders, felling him with an unintelligble roar from beneath his helm. Woe to the remaining opponent, that leaves Esyld free to focus her attention on him. Reaffirming her grip on her bastard sword, the t'Maren mercenary braces herself to set about him again, as Vorian shifts his focus to a pair of thugs bearing down upon him.

"I sure hope so," Conrad says to his sister and joins the charge. He avoided any real attention, thus far, engaging a bandit and avoiding damage, so far. The t'Artan knight trying his best to carve a bloody path through the enemy has yet to occur, but Conrad endeavors to keep trying.

Artos is in a similar boat, though he did manage to catch the attention of one of the bandits, though fortunately his armor is proving to be worth the price as the knight fails to take any damage thus far.

With the charge given, Odilia does sweep in with the other Wraiths. Her daggers drawn and sweeping in upon one of the AbaraAssassins, who turns out to be one hell of a dodgy fellow ducking her attempts to cut him as he in turn takes out his agression on Lucas.

As Talia moves in and begins to strike, it seems she literally does have a target on her back, as five assaliants gang up on her at once, and begin to slash and hack at her. Talia stands tall … for a little bit, anyways. She dodges, as best she can, with the brilliance of a master swordswoman, and manages a few good strikes before numbers overwhelm skill, and she takes two brutal cuts to the chest, and is down for the count. Laying still, they might presume her dead, afterall. Then, Talia surges forwards again, moving to strike Wilson from behind as his focus turns elsewhere.

When at first you don't succeed… keep stabbing. She's filled in her own blank, Alexandra, and when bandits burst forth she chooses the closest one. His longsword is certainly a more formidable weapon than her own, smaller gladius, but she manages a quick hit while trying to dodge. And dodge she does, mostly, as whomever it is Jonathan's attacking ends up slicing for her, and when she turns at the sight of movement in her periphery, it's a rookie mistake - unguarded - and she's hit square in the chest. Heaving she falls back, a few steps away in an attempt to catch her breath before slicing forth again.

Too caught up in the thick of the melee to make do, Clarke calls out, "Try and get the archers!" Not sure if anyone's in a position or not to make a go over of it as he swings around, trying to stay up on his feet then as he assesses the battlefield, and his own general state of injury. His blade is up and out, going to slash into the melee at an adversary close ot him. Towards one of the men, he goes for a hack. Using his shield defensively, slashing up and down, going for the adversary with the Gladius as his blade curves through the air!

Bloodied, but not down, Talia manages to get two light slashes on the man who sent her tumbling to the ground, even as she evades her own attacker, her expression set grim, as the dance of blade continues. The dark Sidhe Steel weapon in her hand shifts, as Wilson seems to turn his attention towards her, she still very much aware she's injured, and a target. Talia's stance shifts to that of defensive, even as she continues to look for openings.

Well, it seems the fight is not going well for Conrad. One bandit is able to slam a pommel into his helmet, resulting in Conrad's bell getting rung pretty badly. As he staggers back a bit, and fails to do much in the way of damage as he tries to protect himself, though a slash to his arm causes him to bleed a bit, at least it is not Conrad's fighting arm. The t'Artan does grin as he and Jonothan finish off one of the bandits, though. Vengeance is always welcomed.

Artos fares well enough, again avoiding damage as he wades into the fight, his sword finding minimal success, sadly. He scowls and goes about his bloody business, not pleased to do it, but more of a laborer at his task than an artist with a canvas.

Gabriel continues to exchange sword thrusts with the highly skilled bandit that he's attacking. Yes, the man was definitely more skilled than the average bandit, so maybe one of the Abara's more elite fighters perhaps? Nevermind thinking about it. With Clarke's assistance they manage to get the man down. He begins scanning and calls out, "Keep pushing, and make sure none escape!" He charges towards what appears to be the leader of this motley little band and attacks.

It would would seem that the Abaraa isn't as dogy with Odilia's blades finally making contact, even if that is about all they do, making the barest of knicks into it. Finally managing to draw a little blood in the end. Or is that her own? With the hits that their leaders manages to get in on her. Light damage, barely scratches and Odilia seems to give no mind to it. Save her attention does now turn to the man, especially as his own turns back towards Talia.

Well, at least a few of them are down. One in particular crumples under the blade of Jonathan t'Maren, who retrieves his weapon in a hurry, his attention turning to Gabriel l'Saigner and his head dipping in a nod at the other knight's order. They're being sorely pressed, even with those minor victories. The t'Maren knight's expression is grim, his brow furrowed as they fight on.

She's pleased when the bandit attacking her and Jon doesn't get up again, but Alex knows she'd be a fool to celebrate. Instead she looks up, tightens her grip on her sword, and aims for the next one to head her way.

The red mist has apparently descended as Esyld squares up to the opponent still facing her. That bastard sword is a weighty weapon, and she brings it down hard in a slash to his chest, letting the momentum carry her into a further strike to his gut that leaves him staggering a step or two back from her. The woman instinctively jerks aside, though a moment too late, as an arrow *SKIFFS* across her chest. Great. Now there's a hail from above, too? She can only trust that Corvin and the Wraiths will wipe out that particular problem sooner rather than later… Anyway. Pressing her advantage, Esyld slices again at her opponent, well aware of Vorian guarding her flank. With moderate success. Though he takes a vicious pummeling, the obnoxiously stubborn t'Maren Knight keeps his feet, enduring the blows upon his shield and waiting for his chance to strike at the apparent leader of the band. On the periphery of her vision, Esyld sees Gabriel's attention turn that way. Good. Take that. In the meantime, she's intent on finishing off the man in front of her. Go down, already!

Damn it all. Corvin is staggered, of all things by an arrow that grazes his arm. And his opponent keeps up a strong guard, which he's unable to break past, especially while his chest still burns from the deep stab he's already taken. Still, he keeps focused on the assassin before him. Let it not be said that he didn't go down fighting, if that's where he's headed.

In pursuing one assassin now he's facing another. He swings at one, another sends a punch his way and he ducks. He swings a second time to no effect as the second assassin kicks at him. Lucas rolls away, bringing his dagger up to continue the fight. They come for him and he ducks and weaves striking a blow against one of their necks only to feel his blade scrape armor. "Damn," he curses. They trade blows again this time Lucas brings up his dagger to block the a punch leaving the assassin bloody. Lucas carries on his assault. The next exchange goes much the same a new assassin attacking with a peasant's blade while Lucas continued to pursue his foe.

Stick, and dodge. Stick, and dodge. Talia isn't outmatched, but she is outnumbered. And bleeding. And hurting. But the Viscountess shows just how dangerous she is, even as she manages to evade the attacks, playing purely defense now, choosing the exact right time to whittle more at Wilson's flesh. She watches Corvin go down, as she did, and there's a feral, almost violent grin on her features as the man gets back up. She licks her lips, twisting the blade to and fro in her hand, waiting for her next turn to further make Wilson bleed, and eventually, end him, if she can.

Conrad grumbles as his offense proves to be lackluster, also at his irritation for forgetting a shield. The one thing he forgets at home. However, he avoids any more trouble and joins his sister in an assault on one of the bandits.

Artos is no longer the quiet, sullen baron. He now appears to be a monster of destruction as two arrows pepper his side, inflicing minimal damge. His sword cuts deep into a man's head, but a second blow nearly decapitates the man. Turning his fury on the offending archer, Artos charges forward, sword held high, ready to strike down his opponent.

It's a rough fight, and it's with a grunt then that Clarke dodges back as one of the bandits arcs at him from the side. The spear digs into his armor, but the reinforced chest plating takes it, even as the padding beneath slams to his ribs. But the edge of pain gives him focus as he slashes through, targeting another then and with a brutal slash he manages to drop the man. He quickly evaluates, sweeping the battlefield and calling, "We want to try and take the leader alive!" Otherwise eyeing the archers coming up, and going to try and make sure that the grou pthat's engaging the leader of the bandits isn't flanked. He goes to try and slash out over at the man with the long spear, moving to try and prevent the man from attacking the rest of the group to try and give them time to take out the leader.

Having a change of heart - the bloody coward - Esyld's opponent ducks away, taking a swing toward Vorian instead. He's rewarded with a furious downward chop from the mercenary woman before his desperate blow can land, clattering the weapon from his hands and bringing him down at last, where she quickly disposes of him, ignoring the spatter of crimson across her leathers as he meets his end. They were hardly pristine, let's face it. Vorian and Gabriel have their man well in hand it seems… and a wild glance about herself has Esyld's unsettling gaze falling upon the men assailing her darling elder brother's new wife. Well, to blazes with that. With her two-handed grip, the t'Maren bastard cleaves an arc toward the shoulder of the closest one, weakening his sword arm.. if not threatening to rip it off entirely. That'd be pleasant. Arrows continue to rain down around Esyld but - thus far - have no luck in slowing her down.

Corvin wheezes, his face already starting to take on an ashen tint. He's not breathing right. Somewhere in his head, he's aware he's got a punctured lung. But that's something to worry about later. What to worry about now is the rapier in his hand that's not even scratching his opponents' armor. So he drops it, and goes with something he's…more practiced with, lashing out with hands and feet now.

Gabriel clashes with the bandit's leader, but he's unable to get in any solid blows against the other man, instead finding his sword being deflected now and again. Gritting his teeth, he tries to renew his attacks all while deflecting or dodging any swings that the other bandits try to direct at him from the sides.

The daggers continue to sweep and attempt to crack into Wilson's armor, and Odilia does manage to get a slice in on him. But the turn of arrows draw her attention, archers were yet up and hadn't been taken care of. Thus Odilia's daggers are turned towards that pesky fellow shooting pointy sticks through the air.

Frustrated that she hadn't thought to bring a longer sword, but pleasantly surprised she's been lucky enough to avoid a great many potentially lethal hits, Alexandra turns with a swing of her sword just in time to see another of the bandits fall at the combined efforts of the rest of her kin. They're quite a group, and when she sees Gabriel still plugging along like it's just a training exercise, it emboldens her. Maybe too much, as she misses the next swing, but her morale has certainly improved. She continues hacking away at the nearest bandit, attempting to continue dodging that frightening warhammer in the process.

As the battle swirls around Jonathan, he turns his attention to the bandits toward the rear who are taking shots at him and his companions seemingly with impunity. Time to change that. Charging one of the archers with his blade held high, he slices the man's head clean off, spinning clear of the spray of blood and buring the tip of his sword deep in the other bandit's chest. With the front guard more or less taken care of, he rushes deeper into the encampment, raising his blade and moving to take some of the pressure off Corvin and his crew.

As the bandit leader seems to be mostly on his lsat legs, Clarke hears the sounds of fighting going on further in the encampment. He raises his sword in a charge, and lets out a yell, "Breach them!" Thier defenses are broken, go for the kill! He heads into the encampment, swinging over at an unfamiliar figure - one of the assassins, going to move in to launch himself at a man with a rapier to try and help pin down the remainder of the raiders if he can, trying to use a surge of adrenaline to carry him through the remainder of the battle.

Lucas continues the fight with the assassin until one of the warriors takes him down. He nods once, turns then joins the battle with the assassin weilding the pesasant blade.

Well, the fight rages on, as Conrad joins the attack on the remaining group in the front of the camp. Taking only minor injuries since his last, he wades ina s deep as he can, but fails to make much in the way of success.

Artos, however, helps lay low the archers plaguing them and moves deeper into the camp, on the hunt for bandits and finds some more to be hunted, his sword landing a deep gash into the torso of one.

It doesn't seem to stop the archery from shooting his pointy sticks, but Odilia does not pause in her attack as her daggers draw blood from the man. It was a deadly dance they were in and both knew it. Even still, the man set his targets far afield as Odilia continues to cut at him.

Talia continues her lethal dance with Wilson, weaving between her two attackers with deft agility and grim determination. Her vigiliance pays off, as the large man topples after two neat cuts. Cuts do not, afterall, have to be deep to kill. They just have to slash the right arteries. There is little enough time to celebrate, though, and she turns her attention towards another nearby assassin, putting pressure on him as the teams begin to take down more and more of their enemies to finish them off entirely.

Normally, Corvin would acknowledge someone saving his bacon in the middle of a fight at least -somehow-. Whether with a quip or a grin or a nod or what-have-you. But that's not really what happens this time. He doesn't even seem to be fully "there" and he coughs up a bit of blood, staggering back against one of the tents and nearly falling over, before sort of blindly lashing out at one of the assassins that happens to draw near.

Gabriel grunts as the bandit's leader remains on his feet. "The rest of you push further, I'll keep his attention for a while more." He tries to push his forces to meet up with the wraiths. "Come on you bastard, hit me if you can." He lifts his shield and pushes forward, lashing out with his short sword.

SHE LANDS A HIT! Alexandra's been defensive, taking more time to dodge than really attack anything, and when her sword makes forcible contact with the bandits' leader and it elicits a yelp, she grins wide. It's hard not to cry out in victory, but again, that would be stupid. Besides, Gabriel has enough one-liners for all the rest of them, so she stays quiet, on the defensive for now, eyes moving between her target and that…guy that just had his head lopped right off by her husband on a rampage. Welp.

Following another hefty blow to the other straggler harassing Alexandra, clearing the way for the Lady Knight to aid the others in taking down the leader - who's still on his feet somehow, a testament to the quality of their opponents - Esyld whirls and brings her heavy blade into the gut of a bandit rushing Clarke, to her other side. Some sort of supernatural awareness, in the heat of battle, or just dumb luck? Probably best not to ponder over that too long.

At the t'Cauthon'es cry and the surge of skilled blades toward the ringleader, Esyld turns her focus toward the inner part of the encampment.. and the predicament of the Wraiths. She's off and running without fully having gathered her thoughts.

As for Vorian, he's doing his job, despite tiring under the weight of several wounds that are not to be taken lightly. Surrounded by his men and the clamour of the fight, he's intently focused upon the man in his sights, regardless of Gabriel's assurances.

Reaching her target, Esyld uses the momentum and weight of her run to drive her sword practically through the poor bastard, the tip of her darkened iron blade protruding from his chest and preceding a splutter of crimson from his startled lips. She hasn't the time to fully take stock of Corvin and Talia's injuries… so she does what she's best at and turns, setting herself not very subtly between them and the remainder of their assailants.

It might have seemed just a light cut but it really was all about just where that cut was made. As after Odilia's daggers made their next pass into the archer's flesh the man is falling over, having leaked out more blood then he could afford to lose. Turning and seeing the carnage, Odilia moves onwards towards Talia with the last of the enemy appearing to be dealt with in various measures and means.

Holding his sword in front of him, Sir Clarke t'Cauthone sees the battlefield clearing. In a haze of blood and gore, he is still on his feet. He chants out, surveying, "Try and take any alive that can be!" That was what thier orders were, at the very least as he swings his sword about, surveying the fight zone for any adversaries still on their feet, sweeping around in case as well the bandits have reinforcemetns coming towards the camp as he also instinctively goes to look for cover if needed. Bracing and waiting for orders otherwise.

Talia moves towards the assassin that's been dogging her, and she's been annoying the hell out of by being a constant moving, dodging target, stabbing once, before other swords, and other members of the attack teams move in to bring the fellow down. When there is only the one remaining body of the enemy encampment alive, she goes down on one knee, sneers, and spits blood out of her mouth onto the ground, breathing hard. Her sword is sheathed, and she brings one hand to her chest, now, to press against the wound. She'll let the others finish the work. As Odilia approaches, she hisses, rasping, "Bastards."

As the fight comes down to one last assassin, Lucas fixes his eyes on the man as he bends to wipe his blade on the grass before returning it to its sheath. He steps forward then, hands spread in a relaxed stance, ready to grapple with the man and bring him to submission.

Corvin feels his hands connect, and then that target too has fallen. Struggling to catch his breath, and moving stiffly, he moves towards and clasps the arm of one of the other Wraith's present, despite the man nursing a very nasty gash along his other arm, "Pieter. Need a healer." He says breathlessly, blood still flecked on his lips and his face pale, "Lung's cut."

Corvin adds after a moment, "Find Lucas. He'll take command."

It's perhaps unsurprising that the assassin Jonathan faces is a skilled fighter. But as good as he is, the knight is that much better, and he has the man outmaneuvered, scoring a powerful hit that sinks deep into his chest. He's prepared to finish the man off, but the assassin, seeing his comrades crumple around him, takes the option out of Jonathan's hands by taking his own life. Chest heaving, the heir to Bloodfield bends to wipe his blade on the grass, eyes flickering from side to side as he takes stock of the battlefield.

There's little resistance by this point, a few more skirmishes see off the worst of it. Shaking with a mingling fatigue and the last remnants of adrenaline ebbing from her form, Esyld at last lowers her crimson-streaked blade, driving the tip into the dirt underfoot and leaning, just for a moment, gratefully upon the pommel with a forearm. It's a good few beats and more gulped lungfuls of air before the mercenary straightens, slowly and with a grimace. Thew wounds she's taken aren't serious.. a few days should see her right. But as the frenzy of battle fades, the aches and pains flood to the surface.

Still, she's better off than some.

Turning slowly, the woman takes in the sight of the Countess taken to a knee, eyeing Talia with what, for Esyld, passes for.. 'grim concern'. She's fairly unreadable that way, unless she's thoroughly enraged. Her gaze shifts to Corvin next, perhaps overhearing the exchange. He's upright, so that's something. And safe enough, surrounded by his own. Turning full circle, the woman casts her gaze out over the field, expression darkening still further as she looks over the sprawled bodies and bloodsoaked grass. 'Her' perople are intact. Mostly. But this was no easy fight.

"Very dead ones now," notes Odilia. "But we knew this wasn't going to be easy." Pulling out a few bandages and offering them to Talia to push against the worst of her wounds. "Here, use this, so we can get you to a healer proper." Giving the bloody carnage a look, before noting quietly to Talia as support to get her to her feet and to help is offered,"We may need to step up the next few classes of recruits to replace these loses."

The fight has been brutal. This was no mere camp of bandits. Clarke t'Cauthone sweeps over it. Seeing bodies - of friend and foe strewn about so deeply as to be almost unable to tell who was who. Bracing himself, now he goes about some of the work then - checking bodies one by one, seeking out each that is in unfamiliar colors or clothes to make sure that they're dead. . Each body that is clearly not a corpse or missing limbs is given a light poke with a foot and a check to see if it's still breathing or playing dead. No sense playing for risks after all in case some tried to flee later or attack them while their back was turned. A tactic he'd heard far too many stories of and if anyone would use it, those of this camp they had just attacked would.

The fight over, Gabriel scans the area noticing dead and injured men from his forces. As healers come and handle those who are still breathing, he begins to walk around the encampment, his eyes wandering the area, as if trying to find something. Eventually he reaches the part of the camp the wraiths attacked and winces when he sees the state Corvin is in. Spotting Esyld, he calls out, "Esyld Draven, kneel." He begins to walk in her direction.

Talia spits another bloody lob on the ground again, glancing to Corvin. Her eyes narrow, but she sees the man is already getting help, and she then accepts that which Odilia offers her. "Wrap it," she tells Odilia, "Tightly. We will look at recruits later." Her own breaths come short, raspy. Corvin's may not have been the only lung that was cut. She does not seek to get up, just yet. But she bears the pain as nearly as well as anyone could, her teeth clenched, her arms tense and fists tight. "Get me out of here," are her orders to Odilia. After, of course, the girl has at least wrapped, staunched the wound with some very rough first aid.

Blinking out of her reverie, Esyld takes a moment to place the familiar voice, her gaze eventually settling upon the approaching knight. It's a moment more before she actually reacts, though; regarding Gabriel with a bemused expression at first. Is she in trouble? Wouldn't be the first ti-.. oh. "..he's not bloody serious.." she mutters to herself, and presumably anyone within earshot, blue eyes widening. But.. an order's an order. As the man draws closer, the mercenary obligingly eases down to a knee; stiff now and rather lacking in grace as she braces a leather-clas knee in the mud and blood, lowering her gaze abruptly and swallowing a few times.

Corvin starts to sag, and Pieter helps lower him to the ground, oddly enough (for those with little knowledge of treating wounds) on his injured side. A healer is called up in short order, who quickly sets to work doing what he can for such a wound. Corvin himself? He sort-of hears Gabriel somewhere sort of nearby, but after that, consciousness flees from him as air and blood fully collapse his lung.

With her sword down at her side for good, Alexandra reaches up to remove her helmet. She'd seen bad before, but it takes her a moment to shake her head and realize that she's no longer in mortal peril and, what's more, she's probably about to witness something rather important. She watches Gabriel close the distance between him and her husband's half-sister, standing still for a moment before she rakes a gloved hand through her hair and just looks. There can't be much else for her to do now that others aren't already working on.

Odilia nods to Talia, setting to wrap the..well all the wounds that have been inflicted ot Talia's chest as quickly and tightly as possible to staunch some of the blood flood. She was no healer, but she was not unfamiliar with having to make a field dressing as one might call it. Corvin isn't given so much as a glance from Odilia, Talia was her concern in this and was in bad shape. Sadly, also not unaccustomed to having to haul people out after a fight, Odilia does get Talia back to her feet and takes the brunt of Talia's weight to get her on out of the bloody carange and to a healer who can set things in better order.

It's going through the bodies one by one. The bodies.. Of friend. Far too many friends. Allies. Comrades known. Those in passing.. To each Clarke gives a quiet salute. They will be praised and buried later. And remembered for as long as memory exists. But now there is the battlefield. And the aftermath. Same as any other that has been and will be. And so injured but not badly, h continues to gingerly go through the bodies one by one, cautiously going to look them over for any still amongst the living. And for anything else abnormal that might be a sign of traps or other nefarious things.

Artos frowns and raises his visor as he begins wiping the blood from his blade with a fallen man's cloak. "Damn bastards," Artos scowls, "Rot in hell, the lot of you." Upon finishing the task he walks over towards his injured nephews, but is stopped when he hears Gabriel speak. Turning around he sheathes his sword and watches quietly.

Conrad wanders aimlessly for a moment after the fight and takes some time to regain his balance. He eventually gathers with the others and stands next to his sister and her husband, letting his helmet be held under his arm.

Gabriel continues to walk towards Esyld. "Esyld Draven, for valor displayed in combat not once, not twice, but on several occasions now, I hearby proclaim before the One and all present that you are a knight in service to the One and Couviere." He taps his sword on each of her shoulders before sheathing it. "Stand and be counted among us, Sir Esyld Draven." He extends a hand down for her to take so he can help her to her feet.

The business of the assassins done, Lucas, taking command checks on his brother. Seeing him passed out, he gives the healer a hard look. "Keep him alive or you'll answer to the Duke," he warns earnestly before seeing to the rest of his men, unhurt, injured or dead. Any assassins found to be alive are ordered to be spared, in case they may live long enough to be questioned.

Gabriel's words though give him pause and he stops to see what is afoot.

Vorian turns from where he is kneeling beside the body of one of his men. He straightens, eyes red, features hard, when he hears Esyld being called over to kneel. "Lads," he barks. The battered knight grimaces as he presses a hand to his wound, then plods over to Gabriel and Esyld. His men — two short, and all sporting wounds — follow suit. Their air is grave, intent. They draw their swords and stand, waiting, apparently guessing what this ceremony might entail. Vorian stands before them, leaning on his shield. And when Gabriel makes it official, he raises his sword. His men follow suit. "Sir Esyld Draven," Vorian shouts. "//SIR ESYLD DRAVEN!" his men echo. There is no doubt that they approve.

Knighted? Well, it's not the most traditional path, but when has Jonathan's sister ever done anything the traditional way? With a wave to what's left of his men to follow, he moves to salute Esyld, standing beside their cousin, dipping his head in a respectful nod. And then, likewise, he raises his own blade, calling, "Sir Esyld Draven," his voice booming across the field. It's enough to let him forget - for just a few moments - how much death he's this day, and the grin on his lips is genuine when he lowers his blade.

For once apparently rendered utterly speechless, Esyld holds herself perfectly still, staring fixedly at a particular splatter of crimson on Gabriel's armored toe, her hands clenched tight. There's a slow exhale as the blade taps each shoulder in turn, and as Vorian and his men voice their approval, the young woman ventures to raise her gaze to the knight - fellow knight - looming over her. It's hardly the time or place for celebration.. but there's a tremulous smile as she accepts his hand and rises slowly to her feet, not quite trusting her legs to support her. "..thank you." She'd expected her voice to be hoarse, but in fact it's gone entirely, leaving the words only silently mouthed. Knighted by bloody Gabriel l'Corren? Don't faint. Don't faint. The woman's eyes flit past the Red Knight to her half brother, meeting his gaze steadily and with the twitch of an answering smile. To Vorian, too. And then, perhaps inevitably, despite the grand gesture, she steals a glimpse over toward where Corvin has been laid down. Maybe it's a good thing he's not awake. For now.

At the chant of the knighthood, Clarke looks up. And grins. Quietly saluting, too exhausted to let out a cheer. Going through the bodies one by one and inspecting them. It's time to do all the dirty jobs. Something drilled into him far back in drill. Through many lessons short and sharp that taught a whole world of pain. It's with a gentle resting of his hand and shaking his head, "Too many of us have died today." He will not allow any others to do so by his own inaction to let them be caught blind. So he goes through the bodies, inspecting one by one. It is over, finished. For today. Only today. For the battle, the war - it never ends. He breaks out into an almost morbid grin, still searching and sweeping throughout the bodies.

Gabriel offers Eysld a faint smile. "Congratulations, you've earned it. Though I'm sure this will get me a talking to by someone, but I could give a damn right now." He glances over at Corvin and nods at her. "Go see if he's okay, then see what else the healers need help with. We'll have our hands full today."

Drip. Drip. Drip. Blood is leaking from beneath Vorian's armor. His sword wavers and he lowers it very carefully, as if to say 'this is my choice, it's certainly not because my body's quitting on me'. He hawks and spits, not in insult, but out of a desire to clear his mouth of some blood. And then, he turns to his men.

"Wrap Talbot and Taggett. We'll—" He breaks off, unable to speak for a moment. Perhaps it's pain from his wound. Perhaps it's grief at the loss of his men. He takes a moment to master himself before he continues. "We'll wake them proper, once we've seen to the rest of our tasks." The men nod woodenly and move off to their tasks. Vorian, in turn, moves to Gabriel's side. "What can I do, M'lord?"

Talia bears witness to Esyld's knighting, and she might even offer the newly minted Knight a congrats, but, she too, passes out moments later in Odilia's arms, and any nearby healers that might already be seeing to tend to her. Blood loss, and exertion have taken their toll. And it will likely be some time before she awakens, herself.

Odilia gives a glance towards the knighting once the cheers draw her attention to it. But Talia and the array of critical and serious wounds her Viscountess has taken are truly her main concern and focus. Especailly as Talia looses conscious and all of that weight is Odilia's to bear. A growl and glare at the healers that tend to ehr. No need to actually voice the threat there. They would do their best, that was why they were brought. But it is all Odilia can do at the moment.

Esyld's smile strengthens a touch as she nods in wry assent up at Gabriel. "No doubt.. and anything further I could say on that subject would likely need language not exactly befitting my new err.. position." With that, and with the blessing from the Lord, she inclines her head respectfully and quietly moves off in the direction of Corvin and the healer attending him. Lowering to a knee - again - this time beside the ashen Wraith. "Is there anything I can do..?2 she murmurs, finding her voice again as she addresses the healer, flitting him a look full of worry, despite how tightly she might try to control such things. While she wants to celebrate with her kin, or console in the case of Vorian and his losses.. helping tend the wounded is the priority. And they all know it.

The healers that had been brought with are stretched to their limits treating the wounded. Many with lesser injuries are left to be tended to by their fellows with field dressings than by formally trained healers.

Sweeping over the battlefield and finishing, Clarke goes along then to do what many a soldier has done since the dawn of warfare on the Edge to help tend to minor injuries of the others as best any soldier can on a battlefield. Just some minor bits, but he knows some small battlefield medicines so goes to once his own grisly end of things is done to move as directed to help tend to the more minor ends ofthe others.

"I'll tell y'what you can do," growls a voice at Vorian's shoulder. Fallon, his sergeant — a man who has seen worse and bloodier days than this, but who still weeps silently at the losses of the men under his care. "Y'can come and sit down and let me bind up that chest." And Vorian knows he's right. The young t'Maren is hardly on his feet.

He lets himself be led to a healer and sat down, and his armor peeled off of him. The man's chest has been laid open from collarbone to the bottom of his ribcage. Vorian tries to crane his neck to look at the wound, but Fallon grabs his chin, holding him upright. "Look at me, Sir," he murmurs. "Think about your newly-knighted friend."

Vorian looks up at Fallon as the healer begins to stitch his chest back together, grimacing. His face is pale from blood-loss, but he forces that grimace into a smile. "Baroness is gonna love this, huh?"

t'Andalucci-trained healers are already hard at work on Corvin and even more so Talia (and eventually others as they are available), but as to the former's disposition, he's clearly unconscious, and with his armor and clothing stripped away with ruthless efficiency by the healers, the frothing wound on his chest is more visible. Most that have seen many battles would certainly recognize its' severity. Not easy to heal, and often fatal, but if any can deal with it, the t'Andalucci can

Esyld is not a healer. At best, she can staunch bleeding long enough to get to one. And yes, she's seen enough of battle to know just how bad this is.. how bad it could be. She can't do anything to help.. but she can't quite force herself to leave, either. Not yet. Falling silent, and undeniably pale, the woman stares at the crimson froth rising from that wound, flitting the occasional searching glance up at the t'Andalucci. There's little point in plaguing him with questions. All she can do is wait. The moans and cries of those still drawing breath around her barely register; after all, it's the quiet ones you have to worry about.

Perhaps deliberately forcing her blue eyes to drift, she focuses on Vorian, a short distance away, being tended to by one of his long-suffering men. She tries, with only limited success, to muster a smile for him; the sort of companionable, unspoken understanding shared between those who've trod battlefields together many times over. 'We're still here.'

Surveying the battlefield on a calm moment, even as he's moving to help take bandages and healings to the injured as best he can as the healers leave those who are less hurt to be tended, he gives a one fisted salute then to Esyld. And then in quiet passing to Vorian and his men. Then, still watching the battlefield, he moves on silently to do what he can to help.

Surveying the battlefield on a calm moment, even as he's moving to help take bandages and healings to the injured as best Clarke can as the healers leave those who are less hurt to be tended, he gives a one fisted salute then to Esyld. And then in quiet passing to Vorian and his men. Then, still watching the battlefield, he moves on silently to do what he can to help. Grimacing. The cost had been high.. Far too high as far as Clarke was concerned.

Stitch. Stitch. Stitch. Vorian stares over the healer's shoulder at Esyld, and at the prone figure of Corvin. He, too, summons up a smile — it's slow, slightly crooked, teeth flashing in his beard. But it's a ghost of his usual smile. It lacks something. Confidence, perhaps. His gaze flicks from Corvin, back to Esyld, and he gives her a grave nod.

Behind him, holding him upright as he's stitched, Fallon rolls his eyes and mutters something into the knight's ear. And behind him, men are tending to their dead. A beautiful-faced boy — well, he would have been, had not an old wound ruined one half of his head — is rolled onto a tarp. Arrows have pierced his body in three places.

Catching the t'Cauthone out of the corner of her eye, Esyld raises a fist to her chest in answer, that wan smile faltering, then giving up the ghost entirely as she looks down and aside at the Wraith next to her. There's a telling tensions in her jawline as she regards Corvin's features, and it holds when she looks back toward her fellow t'Maren; leaving her own expression uncharacteristically sombre. 'I don't know.' The look says it all, in regard to the l'Saigner bastards condition.. or chances. It takes a great deal of restraint to heep her gaze on the knight, lest a flit of her eyes draw his attention to the grisly scene playing out behind him. Some hurts take more than the skills of a healer with a needle. He can take them in his own time. Raking her sweat-dampened tresses back from her brow, Esyld settles on her backside in the grass and props her elbow on one bended knee, serving as a brace for her forehead upon her knuckles. Doesn't look as though she'll be moving along unless the healers demand it.

Vorian keeps his eyes for a few moments longer on Esyld, then looks over to Clarke. He forces a smile for the other knight, nodding his head faintly. "Glad y'were here," he grits out. The stitching is done for now, and Vorian is just resting back against his grit-hard sergeant who, contrary to his appearances, is cradling the young knight as gently as he might a child.

"Fought well." But the compliment is delivered in a tone of grief. He can't stop trying to turn his head behind him, to where his men are dead. And he can't stop Fallon from grabbing his chin and facing him forward. "Later, sir. Later." Fallon keeps whispering that. "We'll do for them later. All that's right and proper."

Clarke can't bring himself to look over at teh bodies. He's seen too many. As he sees Vorian look at him, he gives a salute as the man undergoes treatment. Now, he goes to watch over the battlefield. He can stand, at least. He speaks just one sentence in passing to Vorian then. "It was for a reason." They have made the area just a little more peaceful. Hopefully. The losses were fora cause. To mete out some sort of justice. At least, that's what he's telling himself.

"It's always for a reason," agrees Vorian softly. He's looking rather worn, his chest a tic-tac-toe board of stitch-marks. The t'Maren knight took a rather impressive amount of injury and kept fighting til the end, though it's obvious that he's now paying the toll. "These bastards had t'.. go." He yawns. Fallon eases the knight down, gently, onto his side. And there's a strange tenderness in the way he brushes hair back off his knight's forehead. "Y'led us well, Sir. Was well-done." Fallon looks up at Clarke. "We'd welcome y'at the wake for our lads, sir."

Clarke dips his head then and gives a salute to Vorian, and then to Fallon "Would be an honor. So long as duty permits.. I will be there." He looks about the battlefield quietly, "We will remember them and what they gave thier life for." He closes his eyes, "And we'll cleanse the realm of any of the filth left over that we did not get to tonight." A promise, with as much power as he has any capacity to swear upon.

"We'll rain blood an' shite down on any survivors," murmurs Vorian weakly. "Blood an' shite an' chaos. I swear it, Fallon. I swear it.." He closes his eyes; his accent has coarsened as he tires, and he sounds more like a soldier than he does a noble. Fallon doesn't seem fazed; he simply nods in agreement. "We'll make 'em die slow for Taggett and Tab, sir. Die real slow. They'll wish the Wraiths had'm, once I get started." Pure braggadocio. Fallon knows nothing about torture.

Clarke takes a breath, and advises, "Save it for the enemy. If you can still move and aren't hurt, help the healers or otherwise help maintain the perimeter if you're not about to drop. If you're going to fall on your feet, that's fine as well. Don't push yourself to break when you don't have to."

"Fallon.." Vorian looks up at the grizzled old man. "Listen to Sir Clarke. I'm fine. Go and.. tend to the others. And make certain none of 'em are.. you know. Behaving poorly." He smiles crookedly. "Doing exactly what we wanna do, with any prisoners." He looks to Clarke. "Did we fetch any prisoners?" Fallon is, reluctantly, obeying.

Clarke looks over and nods, "I think they took one of the leaders.." He's not sure of that though as he glances around, ready to go and help sweep the perimeter, "Any of the bandits.." Will be severely hurt at best and no healer would likely tend them when so many of their own were grievously hurt. "You and your men did good. Remember that." He takes a breath.

"They always do, my friend." Vorian closes his eyes again. "I'm rather tired, Sir. If you don't mind, I'm going to.." And he's gone, drifting off into either sleep or unconsciousness, or somewhere in between. Fallon, who appears to have been waiting for this, re-emerges. "With respect, Sir Clarke, let's let him rest, eh? That big fella did a number on his chest, and he took an arrow through the shoulder." Fallon grimaces. "And we won't see him right in his head for weeks."

Clarke nods, "Then tend to him boys. Help him and otherwise rest." He gives a salute to Vorian. Then nods to Fallon, "And make sure he lets himself get tended to enough to make the rest of you squirm when he's better." Probably the best thing he can think of lightly to say as he gives a quick nod to the men, and then goes to start doing a sweep of the area's perimeter - if only to distract him from the bodies.
